I love the ideas I'm seeing in tiny, or prefab homes. What I don't see enough of, is communities where these are welcomed and supported--without incurring monthly lot rents. The dream is home ownership, without lifelong debt. I'd love to see a community of innovative homes, sharing amenities, connected to power, water, and sewer as desired.

While all had some interesting features, the A-frame was the one that I would prefer. I like the option of permanent installation, the fact that you can customize the size, the large amount of roof area to facilitate solar panels, and the fact that the upstairs bedrooms have balconies.

Being disabled and in a wheelchair, I would love to see one of these homes dedicated to the disabled. Such as raising and lowering upper cabinets in the kitchen. Easy access to sinks. Folding ramps for entrances.

I love some of these. I’d want one for snowbird living where there is room enough to put some furnishings in it when folded. This would be perfect in an area where there are hurricanes. Drive some helical anchors and fold it up for the hurricane season when not there then in November open it up for winter to live in.

And #3 are my favorites they are a larger home plan so that a person or family could spend quality time inside and enjoy the plans openness to feel not too closed in. the windows and skylights would add to the open feeling of the home. What an awesome innovation to housing. Impressive!!. The A frame is our favorite. Easy to set up, roomy and easy enough to relocate if necessary. All the styles are kick ass. Hats off to all the engineers that designed them. We will be checking more into pricing, and cost to the city. If its self sufficient
No reason to deal with the. City except a permit maybe.

Some very futuristic building in there, that have taken inspiration from construction site office and messing, changing room, and site living accommodation in the UK.
Terrapin made a wooden fold out unit back in the 1950s . The core was truck legal and both sides unfolded with the roof acting as side sealed weather protection while the unit was in storage. The unit opened up as module 7 in the video, either by hand or more easlily with the use of a crane.
The flat pack type we used on a US/UK Aid project in Cairo Egypt back in 1985 arrived as 4 stacked units making the size of a shipping container. It took about a day to assemble each site unit, a good feature was they were mounted on skips so they could be relocated around site or dragged onto a truck for transport elsewhere. The UK armed Forces used them a lot in overseas deployments.
Old shipping containers were also equipped with workshop benches, windows & doors etc. That was stacked to one end and then Land Rovers excavators etc were loaded in and shipped to site, so the container was used for purpose and the recycled for site use.
Another type was built by Portacabin offered back in the 1970s. These were fully assembled units that were fitted out as offices, messrooms, toilet/shower and living accommodation.
But none of them were as sophisticated as the models shown in the video, thanks for that.

The TenFold and the EBS-Block are the most intriguing of the group, just curious as to what options or expansion possibilities you have. The Blu Home "Breeze House", is basically a Modular home, that fits the timeframe, but I'm guessing the price is definitely directed more for Northern Cali. That price is pretty ridiculous.

It’s just nice to walk around on the same floor everything is there at your deposal and can be folded up and transported to another location.

Since the energy demands of our buildings is actually greater than our transportation system I think these designs give short shift to reducing our energy demands. Most of these designs would be suitable for only a perfect climate. With walls and ceilings that have minimal if any thermal insulation you would have to heat and cool these structures much more than a building with a well insulated wall and roof system. This looks good on the surface but we should look at not just form but function.

    • @jeddon1577
      @jeddon1577 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly. Most jurisdictions would not allow structures w/ so much glass area. The energy codes restrict
energy flow through the building's skin.

I'm humbled to see these types of homes. EBS Block and The Tri-Tainer should already be on the market for the homeless, below poverty level and single low income dwelling. Offered especially to the elderly and disabled. Housing based on income. True affordable housing for those less fortunate. The Ten Fold Homes could easily be a small town center or a multi family unit. With the combination of the three you could easily have a small town technically up overnight. SUBSCRIBED BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO.

In the early 1960s, the Air Force funded a competition for a folding house that could be deployed to various radar sites and missile sites. Our company won the competition with a 1,200 sq ft house whose design relied upon forty-foot hinges. The Air Force ordered several delivered to radar sites in the northern US although they were never moved as was the primary design requirement. These designs are really intriguing.

Love all these ideas. I hope the companies in the video are surviving the pandemic. If I had land, I would definitely consider one of these options. It just makes sense. As I have explored tiny homes, I found a concrete house in Argentina that had the floor design of a shotgun house but with incredible storage. The important aspect was a downstairs bedroom. There is a loft too with storage under the stairs. The issue I have with the video is there is not much dedicated to the actual floor plan. However the concept is what is important.

    # 1 and # 5 because neither requires builders who can end up making the price prohibitive.

Hi, Minds Eye Design is awesome. Thank toy for being you.Think Ten Fold (the last one) seems right for my needs. I have lived in Costa Rica for 40 years and have built many eco-adventure lodges. I want to simplify the lodge construction (individual cabins - kitchen/dining - recreation - meeting - bar area. Also, I want to start manufacturing for mini/micro homes as Costa Rica is relatively expensive near the beach and so I want to be able to sell a home on a fully serviced lot for just under $200,000 with a decent profit. Cost of lot $50K, cost of house $50K to $75K, cost of marketing $25K. We are also looking at tent-like structures for the lodge. I have huge experience as to the environment in which the structures must harmonize with. Some will be on-grid and others off-grid. Any comments or contacts from other idea people are welcomed.

I like #5 and #2 these are ingenious concept homes! I like the affordability and sustainability. The fact that I could owñ a home in a shorter time and have the home I love to move with me if necessary is a dream come true.
