He was Wades errand boy for a month and took a loss at Hell in a Cell. There is so much more to the nexus not getting over than simply to Cena at SummerSlam. Also it's not like Nexus got dominated. It was down to Cena and Barrett. Cena more than got the shield over so Nexus is such old news. Daniel Bryan got over no matter what. Ive always been a big cena fan, he was pretty much my entire childhood, but him saying he doesnt write the show is very disingenuous, he very clearly used backstage politics to get over in certain situations, the nexus being the obvious one, just because he didnt write it doesnt mean he didnt have a big say in what happened, and for the record i have no issue with him doing that, he only done what a lot of guys before him done and what guys like roman reigns are doing now, its part of it but lets not pretend he couldnt manoeuvre backstage to get his way

@@NateDoesYTThere are absolutely times where John Cena threw his weight around to get finishes to matches changed, put the brakes on other peoples careers, etc. From the way the stories get told, it does seem like his motivation is more about what he thinks is "right" for the business as opposed to himself (or even safety, in regards to some finishes he had changed), whether he is right or not. But when he throws his creative control around he can't just say "Oh I just do the best with what they tell me to do." because if he thought something they asked him to do was a wrong call, or thought an opponent wasn't ready or championship material, he went to Vince about it.
He wasn't a Hogan or a Shawn Micheals trying to bury anyone who might be a threat to their position but he absolutely had a say and was in a position where he could voice his input without consequences (and being their top earner, his input was rarely going to be refused)
The most famous example is his win over Nexus, but that is admittedly debatable as to whether he had Vince change who was going over, or Vince changed his mind on his own at the last second and Cena only changed how the finish played out because he didn't want to take a DDT to the concrete floor and risk injury.

Both Edge and Chris Jericho, who were on Cena’s team, thought that they should put The Nexus over in that match, even going as far as to talk with Cena about it. Apparently he ignored them and said he didn’t think it was a good idea. This comes straight from the mouth of Edge and Jericho themselves. Cena's not being 100% truthful here. Today he can put anyone over because he isn't on tv all the time and it won't matter when he comes back. When the Rock comes out, do people remember he lost the title to Cena a decade ago? Nope, they don't care because Rock is a made man just like Cena is today. But back when he was active, how many times did he really go to Vince and say "i don't know boss, maybe I should be losing here and help get this guy over" instead of just winning and not saying anything? Vince listened to his top guys, Cena may not have written the shows but he did have influence and could have said no if he wanted to. Plus we know he had control, Edge and Jericho have discussed repeatedly about their match with Cena vs the Nexus and now Cena planned it out.
