I know he didn't put over Cena 2012 but that's because he was coming back to put Cena over. Yes he didn't put over Rowan lol. Rock has always done the proper business.
yeah while those guys were "passing the torch" guys like HBK, Bret Hitman Hart, Stone Cold, Taker, Kurt Angle were pretty much inventing the damn blowtorch to blaze their own way through.
I mean the Rock put over Brock and Goldberg back to back as his new career started to blossom. That was really good of him. Painful at the time but it made sense.
People CHOSE Hogan. And Bret. And HBK. And Sting. And Undertaker. And Austin. And HHH (the first couple times pre-wedding anyway.) And The Rock. And Nash. And Goldberg. And we accepted early pushes for Angle/Brock because they had “real” wrestling credentials. Not best in ring, on mic, or explosive, or charismatic. We had Cena Nuff even before he got the strap.
And how did Cena thank the WWE Universe for tolerating him as champion forever? He learned Chinese and apologized to a Communist dictator for calling Taiwan a country.

I believe The Rock should have defeated John Cena again at Wrestlemania 29. Then the next night on Raw have John Cena revoke his rematch clause and have John Cena turn heel by aligning himself with Triple H and the Authority. As the match goes on Triple H comes out to help John Cena defeat The Rock but now Randy Orton comes out to what seems to be a save as he is potentially going to help The Rock but in turn he has also aligned himself with Triple H and John Cena thus creating the modern day two man power trip. The Rock passed that torched to Brock Lesnar. Nobody expected Cena to be the guy. Plus, Cena beat Triple H and HBK at Wrestlemania. Why the hell would Cena be crying.
Chiodas got his wires crossed first of all the rock and Austin were carrying the company. When Austin got hurt the rock carried it for 2000. Brock lesnar was the guy who was going to be the face of the company literally that's why they called him the next big thing. The rock passed the torch when he lost to him at summerslam in 2002 Vince was building around brock. He gave him the biggest push in wwe history. John cena was a midcarder during this time brock wanted to leave after everything which everybody including big show was mad at . Rock came back for wrestlemaina 20 he wanted to come back but triple h kept him from coming back. Austin retired in 2003 the rock left in 2004 brock left in 2004 which meant wwe didn't have a face they chose cena because of his merch and how he carried himself. Batista was another star who was going to be the face but torch was past from stonecold to cena in 2005 or 2009 the rock had nothing to do with it. Rock vs hogan was the rock becoming the guy because he was carrying the company at that point. Rock vs cena was era vs era. Not to mention the plan was for 3 wrestlemainas from the beginning. But it was stupid because it didn't need to happen before the rock cena didn't lose clean besides cena lost viewers during the pg era. His first run as champion was the only time he drew. The rock drew from 99 to 2003 he was they guy who carried the company when it mattered the most. Cena admitted the rock was better on the mic . Cena did this to get the rock back and draw money which they did. But chioda needs to stop with the bullshit john was only the face because there was nobody else left not because he was great. Cena admitted he was wrong about the rock because the rock opened doors for wrestlers to go to Hollywood.
People like rewriting History with Cena and Pretend He was on Rock Hogan Austin Level… The Man Was BOOED Out of arenas 10 straight Years.. Never gonna forget when he announced he had a Torn Tricep on Raw in 2013 and the entire Crowd started Chanting YES YES YES!! LOL cuz he was gonna Miss Time
U can hate Cena for every possible reason but he is the best... Without a doubt.. irrespective of the fact that he has less Wrestling skill than stone cold, rock or anyone else But his character has made Tremendous impact on fans around the world, that count the most
STOP IT, he only was ontop because his merchandise sold the most to children and he was the biggest make a wish foundation guy, THATS IT, there was nothing special about john cena as a wrestler, even his promos were garbage he has to kiss the crowd's a** 90% of the time during a promo begging for a positive reaction
Man i love all those guys but cena is not an inferior wrestler to stone cold and rock. Cena has done many amazing things in the ring. And some amazing feats of strength. Like carry big show and edge at the same time
I agree that he was busting his ass...burying talent that was better than him, instead of improving or evolving his character and improving in the ring.
Who did he bury? I see this bullshit all the time and no one ever actually says who other than the Nexus but they were all shit and never gonna make it at the top apart from Wade
@@IAmAHeater Nexus like I said was filled with average except Wade Barrett. Alex Riley I can't remember being anything particularly special. Rusev fair his momentum was halted by Cena although the U.S open challenge was one of the best things we've had and that came because of it. How did he bury Dolph exactly? Same with AJ, he put AJ on the WWE map if anything
Hogan did not passed the torch to rock.. At the peak of wrestling there was no one bigger than the rock other than Austin. These 2 lead wrestling to a galaxy that hogan never took it to.
Hogan will never be touched by anyone. He is the reason why we have wrestling as we know if today. Hulkamania at its peak was leaps and bounds ahead of Austin and rocks best. You can argue that Austin and Rick were better actual wrestlers, but people forget just how crazy peak hogan really was. He saved wrestling as a whole back in his day, if not for him, rock and Steve wouldn’t have had the platform they had.
@@thomasbaker9703 so how come wrestling wasn’t at its biggest when hogan was at his peak ??? I’m not arguing what he did for the business. I’m saying that austin and rock were the catalyst of the pinnacle of wrestling. Wrestling wasn’t bigger before them and hasn’t been the same since them.
@@MR.__G wrestling as a whole was at its peak with rock and Austin. Hulk WAS wrestling for a long time. Hulkamania was the attraction, it was literally a one man show that propelled wrestling into the mainstream. Everybody was wearing Hulkamania gear, and any event with hogan was essentially a Super Bowl. No individual has ever and will ever reach that level ever again. As popular and over as rock and Austin were, they never reached hogans popularity world wide. I’m not taking anything away from the attitude era. But if you look at that wrestlemania match with hogan and rock, hogan was supposed to be the heel but the fever pitch for hogan was a once in a lifetime level. It was literally a spectacle that hasn’t been reached since. Even to this day I still see Hulkamania stuff fairly commonly yet and he’s been retired for a long time. Hogan WAS wrestling for many years, Austin and rock were just the best in wrestling at the time.
@@MR.__G hogan was already past his prime when he he came back to wwe with the nwo. Peak hogan years dwarfed anything rock and Austin did. Hogan was a worldwide phenomenon, Austin and rock never reached that level, they just got massive crowd reactions, but never reached the same level of impact on the business worldwide that hogan did. For the record I was a massive Austin and rock fan but I witnessed hogan during his heyday, there was nothing like if before or after and it’s still popular even to this day.
People in the comments saying Rock put over Brock in 02. Brock was huge as soon as he hit the ring. He had just beat Hogan in a rivalry. Than beat The Rock. The Rock became famous in 1998. So yeah, 4 years of being popular. Losing to a popular monster on a roll. Doesn't cut it Rock fans. And in 2002 he didn't have the control that he had later on. Ironically, Brock became the Rock and didn't put anyone over. When he returned, CENA PUT OVER BROCK IN A SQUASH MATCH. Brock super plexed Cena like what, 30 times?
Cena was very disrespectful to Dwayne for years as if he owed Cena something. Cena is a whole devil, he can bus his ass all he wants but will never be better than Dwayne.
When The Rock and Stone cold left back in 2003 John Cena wasn't the face of the WWE yet he was a mid carder until 2005 or 2006 when he got drafted to Raw.Brock Lesnar JBL Eddie Guerrero was the face before Cena took over.
I had quit watching by the time the match happened because Cena was so stale and I had no hope of anything changing. Booking the old guard a year in advance rather than building a credible opponent in that timeframe only confirmed my perception.
If anything Shawn passed the torch to Steve Austin and him n the rock just passed it back n forth till wcw and ended then hogan wanted to see if he could still hang with superstars like rock n Austin hogan was on his way out the Hollywood gimmick wasn’t getting over anymore n real American gimmick could only work for so long on the second run but hogan didn’t pass the torch if anything he tried to get it back n never did cuz Rock n Austin already surpassed his level of fame in the industry
Rock was already a global superstar by 2000. Saying hogan put ovet rock in 2002 is a insult😂😂 rock was a part timer by this point doing movies bigger than hogan
were still doing the whole "but cena busted his ass"...everyone does. especially dolph. rock/austin/hogan, even hhh on a different level. brock as well. the fact that brock buried everyone in 02-04 and then came back in 2012 to bury everyone, especially cena, shows they were just buying time and trying to keep up appearances until they found a new a lister (Roman, duh) or got some celebrities/mma/anyone who'd stick around for a bit cena's all they had and they fucked with what they had and then tried to double down like that was the plan all along. theyre lucky they struck gold with punk/bryan, that rock/brock came back (and their careers didn't tank), that the shield was over af and had balls to protect their careers and then they got in with these occasional dream matches like sting and goldberg coming back. and as soon as Brock came back and played ball cena's dropped down the card and lost all of his matches RIP bray wyatt but he dropped a pipebomb of his own at CovidMania
The Rock left with the torch? Really? The most giving top star ever. Put over HHH, Y2J seemingly always. Foley, Angle and Lesnar all got their first title runs off of Rock. Rock put Cena over, the same way he would for Roman if it happens.
Cena has put over so many wrestlers over the past 5-7 years. Who has Rock put over?? Do you think Rock would've lost to Theory at Mania? HELL NO. He couldn't even pass the torch over to Cena. Rock said on College Gameday that it was a done deal for Him vs Roman. They finalized it a year before. But some things weren't able to be agreed on. WOW I wonder what that could've been. The Rock didn't want to put over his own cousin. Or he wanted another Cena like situation. Rock wins, than Roman wins rematch. The Rock is someone who doesn't want to look bad at anything. Hogan agreed to lose to Rock. Even though 80% of the people at that Mania were on Hogan's side. Cena, Hogan allowed to put young talent over. The Rock "Over my dead body"
The once in a lifetime thing never meant that it had to literally happen one time.. It meant that it was once in a lifetime that two generations went head to head which is something you don’t usually see. Y’all can’t be that dumb
It was an absolute joke that rock won. it literally made no sense and made cena look stupid asf. cena beat everyone and carried the company for 10 years just to loose?
Meh.. Cenas a level 1 grade a politician he'll say anything to pander to a crowd or to keep his image squeaky clean. Even though he had some real jealousy and hatred towards the rock. All in all two legends in their own right, but I wouldn't believe whatever comes our of cenas mouth.

Cena propaganda may be the most insane in wrestling history. He was booed for 10 years, corny gimmick, awful booking, so many burials. He was nowhere near austin and rocks level. He made wrestling uncool. Also, everyone worked hard. I hated when they used to bring his work ethic into a feud, it was so weird. Everyone was on the road taking the bumps and putting in the work. Cena never had that it factor and huge popularity like previous top guys so they had to overcompensate with real-life stuff (hard work, nice guy, make a wish)
Oh yes The Rock did have the torch -- but at that time the proverbial torch was bascially like a hot potato between Bret & Stone Cold & HHH & Rock due to injuries, backstage issues, & of course Hollywood calling....Hollywood called for Rock a lot sooner than it did for Cena, so it did feel like Rock just up & left, but even HHH got a brief call from Hollywood

He has to be my favorite wrestler of all time.
They should've done Rock vs Randy. The story writes itself
"You run around looking like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles" - The Rock
His promo is on his wrist
"fashion tips from the tooth fairy"
Rock put over Brock on his way out in 2002. Had this been done at Wrestlemania people would recognize that more. Put over Goldberg in 2003 on his way out. I get it would not have made a difference with Goldberg. Put over Evolution with Mick Foley on his way out in 2004. Put over Cena in 2013. I know he didn't put over Cena 2012 but that's because he was coming back to put Cena over. Yes he didn't put over Rowan lol. Rock has always done the proper business.
He was never selfish
he also lost to stone cold like 6-8 times, and only beat him like once, most guys would throw a fit backstage if they lost that many times
Literally never heard Mike talk. Dude sounded totally different in my head
He didn’t sound like this during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras.
This is how he sounds in my head
yeah while those guys were "passing the torch" guys like HBK, Bret Hitman Hart, Stone Cold, Taker, Kurt Angle were pretty much inventing the damn blowtorch to blaze their own way through.
Excellent clip thanks for the upload niqqa 😊
hoIycringe
Anyone know where I can see the footage of them talking after the match?
If there is one thing I learned from this interview, it most certainly was that Cena busted his ass for 10 years!!
I mean the Rock put over Brock and Goldberg back to back as his new career started to blossom. That was really good of him. Painful at the time but it made sense.
The Rock Passed The Torch To Brock Lesnar At Summerslam 2002.
The Rock passed it to Brock. What is he talking about?
People CHOSE Hogan. And Bret. And HBK. And Sting. And Undertaker. And Austin. And HHH (the first couple times pre-wedding anyway.) And The Rock. And Nash. And Goldberg. And we accepted early pushes for Angle/Brock because they had “real” wrestling credentials.
No one chose Cena, and they pushed him to the moon in the most obnoxious ways 24/7 trying to get us to buy that he was 1985 Hogan or 98 Austin or 99 Goldberg or 98-02 Rock and he just wasn’t, at all. Not best in ring, on mic, or explosive, or charismatic. We had Cena Nuff even before he got the strap.
And how did Cena thank the WWE Universe for tolerating him as champion forever? He learned Chinese and apologized to a Communist dictator for calling Taiwan a country.
Yoh idiot just say you and your friends didn't want Cena I got literally millions of people who grew up on Cena many of them owe a lot to him so STFU we don't care about your useless opinion
Mike should be a voice actor
I believe The Rock should have defeated John Cena again at Wrestlemania 29. Then the next night on Raw have John Cena revoke his rematch clause and have John Cena turn heel by aligning himself with Triple H and the Authority. As the match goes on Triple H comes out to help John Cena defeat The Rock but now Randy Orton comes out to what seems to be a save as he is potentially going to help The Rock but in turn he has also aligned himself with Triple H and John Cena thus creating the modern day two man power trip.
The Rock goes back to Hollywood but in turn setting up what could potentially be Triple H vs The Rock at Wrestlemania 30 .
just shut up with these non sense fantasy bookings
it's should have been cm punk , vs Cena vs rock nuff said
@@vampirascoffin870 Nah CM Punk vs The Undertaker was way better for CM Punk and made him not feel like an after though which he would have been if thrown in a three way match with all the focus and story telling being mostly on The Rock and John Cena.
nah this is dogshit booking, stick to spectating and creating your own universe in wwe 2k lil bro
This video popped up on auto play on my phone while I was cooking, so I didn't know the context, and at first I was wondering "Roxxina? Who is this Roxxina lady they're talking about?"
Haha that’s great 😂
The Rock passed that torched to Brock Lesnar.
LOL cuz he was gonna Miss Time
Cope.😂😂😂
Can you fix the volume? Even with my volume turned up it's still a bit low
U can hate Cena for every possible reason but he is the best... Without a doubt.. irrespective of the fact that he has less Wrestling skill than stone cold, rock or anyone else
But his character has made Tremendous impact on fans around the world, that count the most
STOP IT, he only was ontop because his merchandise sold the most to children and he was the biggest make a wish foundation guy, THATS IT, there was nothing special about john cena as a wrestler, even his promos were garbage he has to kiss the crowd's a** 90% of the time during a promo begging for a positive reaction
Man i love all those guys but cena is not an inferior wrestler to stone cold and rock. Cena has done many amazing things in the ring. And some amazing feats of strength. Like carry big show and edge at the same time
@@herbythechef7624 and I can assure you, no one will attempt to do this apart from Cena,
Cens the goat don’t hate
I agree that he was busting his ass...burying talent that was better than him, instead of improving or evolving his character and improving in the ring.
Who did he bury? I see this bullshit all the time and no one ever actually says who other than the Nexus but they were all shit and never gonna make it at the top apart from Wade
@@yourmum955 Nexus,Alex Riley, Rusev,Dolph Ziggler,AJ Styles....The list goes on and on
@@IAmAHeater Nexus like I said was filled with average except Wade Barrett. Alex Riley I can't remember being anything particularly special. Rusev fair his momentum was halted by Cena although the U.S open challenge was one of the best things we've had and that came because of it. How did he bury Dolph exactly? Same with AJ, he put AJ on the WWE map if anything
@@IAmAHeaterAll Those Guys Are Mid Carders At Best and He Did Put Over AJ buddy Yeah Try Again 💀
@@thomasbaker9703 lmao no austin and rock were best at the best point in wrestling while hogan was still there !!
I enjoyed watching this video
Cena was busting his ass for 10 yrs is this dudes favorite sentence
Cena is the GOAT!!!❤
Cena beat Brock in his first night back in 2012. And beating The Rock was a huge deal. How many monsters on a Roll did Cena kill in his prime?
this guy knows nothing, rock went over in 28 because the plan was for cena to get revenge and turn heel
YO that is a BIG ASS watch man 😆😭
What was the thing wwe released recently that Chris was talking about?
Love Mike.❤but Charles Robinson Is Lengend🔥
Cena was very disrespectful to Dwayne for years as if he owed Cena something. Cena is a whole devil, he can bus his ass all he wants but will never be better than Dwayne.
When The Rock and Stone cold left back in 2003 John Cena wasn't the face of the WWE yet he was a mid carder until 2005 or 2006 when he got drafted to Raw.Brock Lesnar JBL Eddie Guerrero was the face before Cena took over.
Brock was going to be the face of WWE, but he left prematurely, so Cena took his place as the new face.
Taker and HHH stole the show that night.
He got a movie, villain voice
I had quit watching by the time the match happened because Cena was so stale and I had no hope of anything changing. Booking the old guard a year in advance rather than building a credible opponent in that timeframe only confirmed my perception.
You're wrong Mike. If you so worry about Cena, remember how many times he became a World champion. And what fans were screaming to him in 2011.
Well that's just...inaccurate.
Was not a fan of Cena vs rock fued. I would of much preferred rock vs Orton they would put one of goat matches. I thought Cena vs rock rivalry boring
I need that footage!!
Rock was already a global superstar by 2000. Saying hogan put ovet rock in 2002 is a insult😂😂 rock was a part timer by this point doing movies bigger than hogan
Someone should tell Mike Chioda that Cena was bustin his ass for 10 years
were still doing the whole "but cena busted his ass"...everyone does. especially dolph. rock/austin/hogan, even hhh on a different level. brock as well.
the fact that brock buried everyone in 02-04 and then came back in 2012 to bury everyone, especially cena, shows they were just buying time and trying to keep up appearances until they found a new a lister (Roman, duh) or got some celebrities/mma/anyone who'd stick around for a bit
cena's all they had and they fucked with what they had and then tried to double down like that was the plan all along. theyre lucky they struck gold with punk/bryan, that rock/brock came back (and their careers didn't tank), that the shield was over af and had balls to protect their careers and then they got in with these occasional dream matches like sting and goldberg coming back.
and as soon as Brock came back and played ball cena's dropped down the card and lost all of his matches
RIP bray wyatt but he dropped a pipebomb of his own at CovidMania
Ok mark
Do you know what watch Chioda is wearing?
The Rock should’ve passed the torch to Cena… but back in 2003 or 2004 when Cena was rising up.
TH-cam commenters for sure know more than the people who were actually there.
I thought the rock passed the torch to Lesnar at summerslam 2002 prior to leaving, no?
The rivalry was completely one sided when it came to promos
John really owned him a lot.
Yeah The Rock won easily, Cena just kept moaning
Cena cooked him on the mic
Nah, Cena just got personal and low-blowed The Rock with personal shit.
@@RoseyRK Cena called Rock out for writing his promo on his arm which legitimately pissed Rock off.
The Rock left with the torch? Really? The most giving top star ever. Put over HHH, Y2J seemingly always. Foley, Angle and Lesnar all got their first title runs off of Rock.
Rock put Cena over, the same way he would for Roman if it happens.
now I feel wwe is falling off
NOW?
WWE falls off every five years and then comes back up
hell no they’re actually at a re peak right now
So the ref not realizing that Rock came back to pull an even bigger payday to continue helping the company 🤔 interesting
Cena>>>>> Rock!
2002-2012 10 years.
The day the rock beat Cena was the beginning of Cena going downhill
Rock passed to Lesnar. Hogan to Rock? idk about that.
Rock pass the torch to Brock he just didn’t stay
What is he talking about he passed it to brock
“Cena busted his ass”
Bro. It was the PG era. He hardly took a bump during this time. It was 5 moves of doom collect a paycheck and move on.
Dude 2010 called they want their cena hate back
The once in a lifetime thing never meant that it had to literally happen one time.. It meant that it was once in a lifetime that two generations went head to head which is something you don’t usually see. Y’all can’t be that dumb
Rock passed it to lesnar, it was supposed to be stone cold but he declined
Rock and Austin are bigger than Hogan
Austin passed it to the rock
Rock >>>>>>>> Cena.
Cena should’ve won the first one. I hated that match and ending.
Kinda like how Nexus should've won.
All in all two legends in their own right, but I wouldn't believe whatever comes our of cenas mouth.
dude leaves the company for hollywood cena was the face for so many years, and the mr roids comes out of nowhere
FACTS 👌💯
Both Cena Vs Rock matches were awful.
Probably the worst main events ever.
cena vs rock was ok , the rock had to win cena dodnt need to win or get that win back at wm 29 it sucked
The torch was gone before hogan vs rock. Rock never held the torch. Wtf is he smoking. Rock was never as big as stone cold. At that time it was stone cold. Rock wasn't Hollywood until way after that.
😂😂😂😂😂 rock was bigger than stone cold by 2000
@TERMINATOR..2024 No, he wasn't. Nobody has ever been as big as srone cold. The nunbers back that up. ROCK has never come close to Austin numbers.
Wait what?
This ref must have taken too many head shots
Hogan passing torch to Rock?
Rock lead WWE to win the MN war while Hogan was already past his prime in WCW
Torch was passed long time ago
And Stone Cold career got going after that???? What ?????
Man who is this dude
Get Earl here
Cena propaganda may be the most insane in wrestling history.
No one will agree with what i say but rock never had the torch
Oh yes The Rock did have the torch -- but at that time the proverbial torch was bascially like a hot potato between Bret & Stone Cold & HHH & Rock due to injuries, backstage issues, & of course Hollywood calling....Hollywood called for Rock a lot sooner than it did for Cena, so it did feel like Rock just up & left, but even HHH got a brief call from Hollywood
