The crazy thing is that three years ago I was playing 2K19 MyUniverse mode and I actually turned him heel I even turned his attire black and he would come out with no titantron or music he would just be angry and he actually beat Roman for the Universal title and became the longest reigning champion in history at that time😭
Aa much as I wanted it, as much damage as the Cena character caused, there is something special about having this character that will not break. One that is at heart, A Hero. WWE's Superman. He brought a tear to my eye when he returned to face a heel Roman.
So many storylines involved people trying to poison his soul and make him go dark. He never did! Perhaps the most strong willed character in kayfabe, ever.
He should’ve been Triple H’s main enforcer in the Authority storyline. A true hero who’s manipulated into thinking he’s doing the right thing by protecting the company, his home. Being genuinely confused at why the crowd turns on him. Reluctantly doing the Authority’s dirty work until DB or Punk or someone else made him see reason, ideally mid beatdown. The face turn at the end of all that would have hit so hard.
right?! that's what I been saying since like 2017. Just retcon everything, let Cena come back and do what would have happened back in 2012 but in a new uber way. Whether it's the whc or taking the title from Cody, they got a chance. One last run, not even for him to be in the wwe constantly like a full time champion. Even if it's 3 months, have him come back, turn heel, beat Cody, they feud, and Cody gets the title back, even being a bigger baby face for defeating Rock, Reigns, and Cena.
Heel Cena would’ve been cool to see, but understanding how that time was, Cena was still very over with the kids and one of the most requested people for Make A Wish, it’s understandable that the WWE couldn’t turn him heel. I hope that one day, we do hear the theme song he was going to have if he turned heel.
They had SO many opportunities to turn Cena heel 2010: when he joined Nexus, could've taken over the group 2011: summer of Punk, Cena could've done a screwjob angle 2012: after the Rock match ofc 2013/14: with the Authority, it made perfect sense for him to be the corporate champ that Daniel Bryan had to overcome 2016 onwards: imagine part-timer Hollywood Cena cheating to break Flair's record

WWE should do an animated series like Marvel’s What If…? What if Cena turned heel, what if DX joined the nWo, what if Sting fought Undertaker. Almost like an anime where abbreviated matches are fight scenes. Use real voices when possible or AI/voice doubles.

John Cena's TIME IS NOW to return as a heel. The story is there. With all the losses his character has taken especially the last one from Solo Sikoa it makes complete sense for him to come back with that Fear My Name song as this ruthlessly aggressive MFer who finally embraced the hate. Loses his way for a while and is eventually brought back at by Randy Orton to the light (or burned in it) at WM.
Based on that description. That’s what Hogan did. The Rock vs Cena feud was interesting. Rock acted like a heel (practically bullied Cena) to be cheered like a face. Cena was the nice guy, acting like a babyface but booed like a heel
There's still one chance! Let Cena's last hurrah in WWE be this typa heel turn with the World Championship- and yes, i do think Cena should break Ric Flair's record
It’s not too late to turn, especially with him not being as young and strong being a heel that gives up and kind of has cronies as back up could work for his last run
WWE really dropped the ball on this. Even as a kid/preteen I wanted this. Idk how they didn’t expect ratings to go up the way they did with Hollywood Hogan
Because it’s a fine line. When Hogan turned, most of the audience was adult anyways. If Cena turned, that’s a MASSIVE youth audience who you’re losing. There weren’t a lot of guys who really could replace Cena’s “superhero” role. Punk? Maybe as an anti-hero, but idk if the kids would go for it. Mysterio? Maybe.
I think a heel character in the vein of Hollywood Hogan and Rock is the one thing that lacks from Cena’s career and would have put him in an undeniable spot for GOAT.
While it would have been neat to see Cena as a heel at some point, I think the fact that he's never turned heel is a really interesting characterization in its own right. John Cena was at one point a superhero, seemingly unbreakable, eventually reaching the point where no one believed he could be beaten. Even when faced with insurmountable odds, even if the fans scorned and jeered him at every opportunity, he's never changed his core values, always encouraging others to "Never Give Up." Unlike Hollywood Hulk Hogan, who caved to the temptations of his own fame and became a cowardly villain obsessed with maintaining his control, or Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, who broke under the intense pressure placed on him, the jeering and scorn from the audience, and became a monster, likening himself to a deific martyr who does horrible things to protect others from the cross he has to bear as "the head of the table," John Cena has never "broken." If Roman Reigns is an example of what happens when you do break mentally under that pressure, 2024 John Cena is what happens when the cost of sticking to your core values- not taking shortcuts, fighting honestly, acting selflessly, and sticking your neck out for others- physically catches up to you. John Cena hasn't won a big match in years. It seems like whenever he comes back, it's to make others look better at his own expense, often in humiliating fashion. And while that's made him endearing to many of us who grew up with him, even if we didn't like him back then and have only in recent years begun to universally respect and love him for what he's given back to the business, he's starting to feel less and less like the superhero we grew up with every day. As far as the character goes, nothing ever "broke," unlike with Hogan or Reigns. In how he carries himself, he's still the same as he always was. But that's not to say he's ACTUALLY the same as he always was. The character development we're seeing from Cena is something completely different: it's the slow degradation of a superhero back into an underdog right before our eyes, and once that transformation is complete, and the deck is well and truly stacked against him once again, maybe then John Cena will have the opportunity to show us one last time what "Never Give Up" really means.
I might be the only one but I'd like to see John Cena's final run a little different from what we've been seeing already every time he returns. Something like letting him grow out his beard for a change, symbolising that he is now the "old" guy or something like that idk.
I'd feel like that would destroy his character. He should have played a heel that embraced the boos and just acted like an asshole, like an anti-hero. He didn't need to change his music, attire etc. and funnily enough this would have made his character more likeable thus turning him face again but this time even more popular
In the Future if John decided he was going to do a podcast about his Wrestling career I would 100% listen/watch a podcast of him talking about all/most of his wrestling experiences. Behind-the-scenes stuff, his favorite matches/PPVS, his relationships with all of his biggest rival competitors DwayneJhonson, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Edge (etc.) That would be super cool if it ever came to fruition.
I still have hope that much like the Dwayne now, we can still see a little Heel Run from John, he is no longer shackled by Vince, who was really the one roadblock in the way of that Heel turn, john can say he had the choice but the reality is Vince was the only one to make that call.....i think Hunter would 100% love to see it too, it's the perfect time because now Cena can just experiment with whatever with no real reproductions... It doesn't damage his legacy, it add a valuable layer that may potentially be one of the best, lets not forget that it was Cena's heel run in 2003 that really shot him up the card in 2004 as a face to then eventually be the biggest Babyface in the company from 2005 onwards.
Iirc correctly the height of cena hate was around before his feud with punk (he was still hated then but the great feud and the 5 star match soften up the hate a bit) also during that time everyone thought the undertaker streak will never be broken. So i left a comment somewhere on internet abt my 2 cent idea: let cena break the streak, he got nuclear heat the finally turned on the fans, becoming heel, it got like 2k likes. Ik it's irrelevant but this video reminds me of that day
Honestly, the way Cena has been cooking people on the mic since like early 2010's, I'd like to think he'd have been the greatest heel of all time by now, way better than Roman's heel turn which in itself was amazing, Cena would've surpassed Hollywood Rock for sure.

@@master-of-mind5881 The WWE intentionally denies what the fans want.
The crazy thing is that three years ago I was playing 2K19 MyUniverse mode and I actually turned him heel I even turned his attire black and he would come out with no titantron or music he would just be angry and he actually beat Roman for the Universal title and became the longest reigning champion in history at that time😭
Who let you cook, son?!
@@mariobros68 if this happened in real life, it would be terrible, wtf
Aa much as I wanted it,
as much damage as the Cena character caused,
there is something special about having this character that will not break.
One that is at heart, A Hero.
WWE's Superman.
He brought a tear to my eye when he returned to face a heel Roman.
So many storylines involved people trying to poison his soul and make him go dark. He never did! Perhaps the most strong willed character in kayfabe, ever.
fr@@JosiahPlummer-ie7bk
They already have someone who fit this role a lot better, and they deliberately sabotaged them: Rey Mysterio.
The face turn at the end of all that would have hit so hard.
your gay
I need to hear that heel Cena theme.
Just listen to his "word life" theme he used in 2003-04.. he was a heel for most of that time..
Heel Cena would've been much more enjoyable to watch in 2013/2014 than the painfully boring Authority, that's for sure.
A Cena theme with saxophones?!?! I need to hear that
He’s so returning on Mania and turning on Cody 😂
lol anything to hurt the Cody crybabies
Heel Cena returns in 2024, 17th title. Would be dope
Man just imagine cena comes back to WWE longer and we get a heel John cena ❤
right?! that's what I been saying since like 2017.
Give up on it already, he's never turning heel
Imagine he returns to side with Roman & Rock to screw over Cody & Seth.
@@RuanAntunes7 other way around why would cena help 4 men who doesn't even need help?
What an insight to how he approaches his art, his life, and his philosophy of being human.
Not just kids women as well
So Rock turned heel in 03. Hogan in 96 so. what makes Cena's situation any different.
@@jamesjones-ez9ug Different business plans????
@@lylaznboi01Yea that M.A.W is some serious shit. I’m sure that was mentioned during the final decision.
They had SO many opportunities to turn Cena heel
2010: when he joined Nexus, could've taken over the group
2011: summer of Punk, Cena could've done a screwjob angle
2012: after the Rock match ofc
2013/14: with the Authority, it made perfect sense for him to be the corporate champ that Daniel Bryan had to overcome
2016 onwards: imagine part-timer Hollywood Cena cheating to break Flair's record
Also, during the rivalry with a returning masked Kane trying to make Cena embrace the hate.
wasn't cena the guy who buried the nexus
This would of been epic
Facts I’m upset we missed out 😆 even the way he’s describing how he’d portray himself is so fire
Unlike your English.
He can always cost Cody at mania and begin his heel run the night after mania. It's the perfect crowd
You know what , I am digging it
It can be possible
Cena to turn heel and win No.17
I feel like a Cena heel turn now wouldn't work
@@willglenn8638could get a Hollywood cena
@@willglenn8638actually at this point it does. Since Cena hasn't won a match in 6yrs and needs to do something different to keep up with new stars current era of wwe since he's no longer Super Cena anymore. A heel Hollywood cena that cheats to win would work.
@@raidenskywalker3702 I just don't see how he could gain any legit heat, people absolutely love the guy these days, I feel the boos would either be fake and people just booing because and not an authentic heat, like with Dom for example, Dom is probably a really cool guy behind the character but when he steps through that curtain he has some genuine heat with the fans
Hell fucking no. Have Cena stay away from WWE
Wwe was so anti heel when it came to cena for merchandising reasons but having him turn heel would of been a good opportunity to elevate a lot guys into stars
And he could also elevate Punk more as the top babyface instead of him turning heel again.
John Cena in singlet, boots and boxing robes with a saxophone theme would of been AMAZING hopefully this happens one day
Like a wet dream fantasy for you huh
lmao, go watch him wear it when going on a jog with nikki bella, he looked weird, the singlet was bad, and had fear my name on it, which looked clownish
That's fascinating. Cena was ready and willing to go full MJF on the heel turn, and precisely because he wanted to do it right, WWE got cold feet and pulled the plug.
Incredible interview with John Cena, Chris! John Cena turning heel in 2012 would have been absolutely massive, the WWE would never be the same if it did happen.
Randy being the biggest face and john being the biggest heel would help randy
That randy has helped cena to grow as he was the biggest heal when john was face when there is perfect heel u can connect with face
Heel Cena that gets turned to Face again by Orton who is disappointed on who he had become sounds awesome. That's main event WrestleMania, right there.
One of the biggest what ifs in WWE history
Both John Cena and The Rock was a heel in 2003, and this would’ve been a good match back in 2003.
WWE should do an animated series like Marvel’s What If…? What if Cena turned heel, what if DX joined the nWo, what if Sting fought Undertaker. Almost like an anime where abbreviated matches are fight scenes. Use real voices when possible or AI/voice doubles.
Let Daniel Warren Johnson storyboard it
Man,this is such a great idea. As niche as it will be, seeing wrestling being animated into those larger than life battles would be incredible.
Especially,if we can do stuff you never will actually see, like Kurt Angle vs Bret Hart dream match
Now talking about it really happening. I’m really glad John cena never turned heel, it’s honestly a testament to his character to never have a heel turn in over a decade of work. Incredible.
It would've been greater than Hogan's heel turn. Damn Vince!
Easily 💯
Like that worked out for Stone Cold in 2001
@@swychbladeseven769there's a big difference. Stone Cold didn't need to turn heel in 2001 but Cena needed it. Austin's heel turn was unnecessary and hurt his career where Cena's heel turn would've freshened up his career.
@@rashidbinzamanshaan5841 Right aint a fan alive that was getting tired of Austin's original face run! It just kept going from the 3:16 kickoff to the feud with Shawn, The Rock, Undertaker, and most iconic feud with Vince Mcmahon. There wasn't a dull moment. Cena did the best he could but you can only do so much with a dull, repetitive product in comparison. It was an easy call that fans would desperately miss him and he'd get a heroes welcome back once he distanced himself from the dull Creative nightmare that was WWE before HHH took over.
Wrong and no ahlam for you 😂. Nwo for life ✌️
The allegory of the good guy that lost his way is a great way to describe Drew McIntyre's current heel run I'd say.
That would’ve been awesome!!!!!
He didn’t have to go the complete opposite route idealistically. He could’ve just shifted his loyalty, respect, and work towards a different route. Same Core Values, but with different lenses. That’s a true heel to me.
He can always turn heel before he retires in WWE just like how the Rock did it just now, it's just about timing and when to strike when the iron is hot
True but everybody love cena now that he rarely appears now it woulda been better during 2011-2015 when most people got tired of his character
People where begging for a heel turn, I honestly believe it would have helped the company massively between 09 and 2012.
cena vs rock 1, cena absolutely dominated rock in those promos, never seen anyone be able to do that to rock. My respect for cena grew after that.
youre obviously a fruity pebbles superfan 😂
before that i wasn't a fan at all, after that i was. at least you didn't disagree tho cena owned him. Truth hurts? my guess you a fan too since you here watching his interviews 12 at night? lol cry harder. good day sir @@majinvegeta7777
@@meladgoat the heel turn would have been dope & the rock ran circles around cena with the promos. its pretty obvious rock won the war of words & later would go on to win the match as well 🤫
Watch survior series 2011 and see who got dominated

Cena within 48 hours: I’M READY NOW!!
So the best work ethic of anybody in the history of ever. But yeah when you gotta stop the Make a Wishes that's when you gotta rethink it.
I wish they would put that heel version in the video game... honestly it'd be sick.
I needa hear his heel theme
If Cena comes back for one last run to end his career, let him be THIS heel. It would be awesome to see
Heel Cena and Hollywood Rock could easily form a WWE version of Main Event Mafia with Aj Styles
Use me as a “drop “fear my name”” button
Cena would be bigger than what he is now…if he turned Heel, and then a the journey back to Face…
All big icons had this process..Hulk, Rock, Austin…
Would have been huge
Vince stole what could’ve been money because if he went heel he could’ve helped put over so many could be baby faces
It's not too late, Champ! Let's hear that banger music and win the 17th championship!
idk how much there is left in john cena, if he still got something left, i would like to see him make a heel run one last go around
Adam Blampied’s idea of having his heel turn come at the expense of the Undertaker’s streak would’ve rivaled Hogan forming the nWo
Hm...what if Cena got tired of losing and just went heel for his last run?
It still might be possible. If The Rock at this stage in his career can turn heel then so can Cena. Doesn't have to be for a long time just a few months would do as well (like Hollywood Rock in 2003)
@@rashidbinzamanshaan5841 the thing that sucks is that I feel like it’s to late now cena turning heel wouldn’t matter cause of this whole bloodline stuff going on and Roman reigns and now the rock is heel so it makes things worse.
If we got heel Cena then, I might actually be a fan.
What If? The Rock vs John Cena took place at Backlash 2003.
One Last Run for Cena, we need the heel Cena experience
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, RELEASE THAT TRACK AND LET US SEE A GLIMPSE OF THAT!!!!
Based on that description. That’s what Hogan did.
The Rock vs Cena feud was interesting. Rock acted like a heel (practically bullied Cena) to be cheered like a face. Cena was the nice guy, acting like a babyface but booed like a heel
The one think I think would’ve amped up a heel Cena is not for him to give up more but be more aggressive. Imagine Cena unleashed?
There's still one chance! Let Cena's last hurrah in WWE be this typa heel turn with the World Championship- and yes, i do think Cena should break Ric Flair's record
He totally can pull it off specially after watching him in Fast and Furious.
It’s not too late to turn, especially with him not being as young and strong being a heel that gives up and kind of has cronies as back up could work for his last run
This should still happen!! See what it’s doing for the Rock!
Mysterio? Maybe.
Bruh I can only think how that heel run would’ve been with a name for a theme song like “Fear My Name”.
I think a heel character in the vein of Hollywood Hogan and Rock is the one thing that lacks from Cena’s career and would have put him in an undeniable spot for GOAT.
That clip of Cena on Total Bellas with the red singlet was his heel gear. FEAR MY NAME was going to be his heel slogan.
Cena bringing his heel Prototype character from OVW to WWE would've been dope as hell.
I Always Knew During John Cena's Rise Above Hate/Embrace The Hate Storyline Vs Kane 2012 was The Closest we Ever Got To A John Cena Heel Turn!
How cool would it be for Cena to break Flair's record as a heel?
Not a Cena guy, but I NEED that.
Any chance this could be John teasing his 17th World title run as a heel?
Cenas retirement year should start off as a heel and slowly fade to a face.
Cena needs to post pictures of this new gear. I'd love to see it.
I need to hear that Cena heel track cause I bet it went hard
I wanna hear that heel theme song lol
John Cena is a rapper at heart, as his first thought was to get in the studio for a new track.
Wonder if we get heel Cena during this retirement tour.
