I really love your feisty sense of humor! I am considering the Camino in Spring of 2022. Haven’t decided yet on Camino Portuguese or Camino Frances

Hi Geraldine. Is there any chance you have a list of the places you slept along the central route? We'd love to know which ones you enjoyed and recommend :)

Good thing that you didn't throw rocks at the trucks! Yes even in Europe each country and region has it's own cultures, you can't assume that just because you're in southern Europe that all males are misogynistic assholes. On the beaches young Portuguese women wear thongs and many go topless. I think that once Portugal joined the European Union that it was somewhat modernized in it's attitude towards females. Portugal from Portucale or Port of Gauls was mostly Celtic and Iberian with Germanic thrown in, however, when the Moors arrived females lost their value and most of their freedom. But Portugal did throw them out way before Spain did. In the small villages there are still sexist and judgmental men and old women but they tend to be more judgie towards Portuguese females than other European females. Portuguese are a very hospitable people however and will often drive or walk to where you want to go when you ask for directions just like in Italy.
