Very nice. I remember watching Mafia DE speedruns and they play in Spanish (I think) and it's a lot faster because you don't have to wait for dialogue to skip drives. Shame it makes no difference for GTA 5 but still cool none the less to see that this version is out there

By the way, I think you might got confused or irritated by the key bind of old JPN console ver because the decision and cancel button combinations are different from your region's copy.

The documentation by the Arkham runners made it really easy to discover and learn about for me! The clip of Batman speaking spanish I used was kind of unexpected to hear, so thought it'd be a good fit to include. I'd love to include more small tidbits about other games like this in the future
The katakana in the video thumbnail reads, 'Gurando Sefuto Ooto And for some reason the kanji for the number instead of 'Go', which means 5 it looks like it reads, 'Ichi' which means 1.
While I agree it's a bit of an odd interpretation, the katakana I used for the thumbnail is an exact copy of what's on the official Japanese Boxes for GTAV. You can see it smaller above the English Logo on the Japanese Version box arts, including the ones I show in this video. The "いつ” is used instead of "ご" for counting because the 'itsu' would translate slightly more to "Fifth" rather than just 'go' being "Five". I got the idea to do that based off fanarts I found that used Japanese. "いち" would be 'ichi' which reads one, but i can see how they'd be confusing on the small size of the thumbnail.

With the new uploads are you gonna start streaming again as well?
routes/driving i mix into the normal videos. brakeboosting is hard, cause, its basically just showing the same thing over and over. it would be hard to stretch out past a minute of video content. and im not sure i can afford to spent like 10 hours of a week comparing brakeboosting/not-brakeboosting for just 1 minute of usable footage
I want to continue it, but it takes some time to relearn myself, find a new runner(s) to work with, and I need to be able to pay the SA runners for their footage.
Why don’t the differences between versions just get subtracted or added to a runners time, rather than someone just getting a slower time simply bc of where they live? It’s not like the Super Mario 64 speed runs where the version actually impacts what glitches can be used
If you are talking about Japanese vs Global releases, if it wasn't clear to you from the video, the Japanese version only loses 6 seconds over the course of a 6 hour run - so there's really no need to retime, especially because there have never been any Japanese-Console runners on the leaderboard as far as I can see. So, before this video (which is less than 3 days old, we wouldn't have even had time to make new rules), we didn't even know if it was an actual time difference, and after this video, we know its a small time, and I don't believe there are any people who it affects, nor have there been in the past 8 years of this games' speedrun history (there is one person from Japan who did a run, but on PC so it wouldnt be affected by this change, and it was in a run that doesnt even use this mission) - so that's why, at least in GTAV, we don't retime the runs based on the region right now. If there were people it affected to a greater extent, we'd for sure consider retimes or rules around that, but anyone who is running competitive times for top 10% on the leaderboard would be on PC anyways.
To my knowledge, it's marked as Simplified Chinese in Odyssey, and as the note says, Simplified Chinese is now used in most of their runs after further testing
@@FriendlyBaron I can't testify to how they're marked in Odyssey or speculate on how this would have happened, but that text is definitely traditional, not simplified. One easy one to look for in the snippet you included is 國--if you read Kanji you probably know that one as 国, and that's what simplified uses. 國 is traditional.
