      @@bunnyman6321 water well can be super clean water and a great source. But when things go wrong it can be very costly. I had to have a new one drilled on my property and it's been a 40k+ adventure. At this point being hooked up to city water would be nice

      @@bunnyman6321 not unless you can prove that it falls under the guidelines of the insurance plan, what's even harder is it's extremely hard to get a loan for that amount and there is no government funding or anything that is geared towards financials for wells. An issue with our well system brought me to your video channel. I have learned more information about wells, pumps, pressure components and electrical then I thought my brain could hold in a 3 day time span. Slowly but surely we are getting the issues all ironed out thanks to you! My question is have you ever encountered a service call where there was no visible well head anywhere on the property? That is the issue we are having. We do have a concrete lid that when lifted there is another lid inside and then all that can be seen is water. It is about 2 feet wide in diameter. Nothing protrudes up from the hole so it doesn't look like anything I have seen in your videos. Other than that, there is nothing else and it is about 150 feet from where I found where the water supply pipe enters the house. On the other side of the wall where the pipe comes in there is a well control box which shows an install date of 1974 on it. Next to that is an old fuse panel with the power cut off lever that still works and wiring fed into the newer control box and then out to a newer breaker box. The Well pressure tank is inside in our boiler room. The house was built in 1955. It belonged to a wealthy local guy who spared no expense when he built it and he hid everything. he built concrete tunnels under the house for the water lines. All utilities are buried/hidden. It was an estate purchase for us so unfortunately we just don't have much info and unraveling the secrets to this house has been a journey. Anyway, so sorry for the long winded story but I'd like to know the best way go about figuring out where our well is actually located. Thanks so much for all you do! you've been an invaluable help to us in Ohio!

    Couple things I would have done differently….
    First I would have used a weatherproof junction box
    Second I would have used 45s instead of 90s to keep the flow and pressure at its max…
    Every 90 creates both a pressure and volume restriction…

    I've been watching your videos to try and solve my well problem.
    I just purchased a 100 year old house with limited information about the property. There is an old (probably hand dug) well in the back yard with a well pump in it and pump handle at the top. It is not connected to the house. The water level is 15 feet below ground and the well pump is 50 feet below ground, but I don't know how deep the well goes. The pump is a 2 wire, half HP Franklin Electric, continuous pump.
    When I plug the well pump to my 120v outlet and I open the pump handle, I get a burst of dirty water followed by a strong flow of clean water for about 20 seconds and then the pump automatically turns off ending with dirty water. There is about 2 minutes of rest and then the pump cuts back on with the same 20 second, dirty-clean-dirty pattern.
    I can tell that it was not a very professional install but all the basics are there. I would like to be able to use this well for a hybrid geothermal system, which requires about 2 GPM.
    What do you think is wrong and what do you recommend?

    What brand of the pump as well as pressure tank did you guys use? Model numbers would help if you know them by chance. Also I have white plastic pipe in my cabin here in West Virginia that I installed back in the late 1980's that currently uses a gravity fed spring to it so I know that I want to use the least amount of PSI as not to burst the plastic pipe inside the walls. My drilled well hit 15 gallons a minute when drilled at 70 feet back in 2019 and is 80 feet deep. I was told to set the pump at 10 feet above from the bottom of the deep well is that correct? I am a retired IBEW electrician who bought this cabin back in 1987 in the mountains of Pocahontas county West Virginia. It gets cold here in the winter time because I am at 3600 feet above sea level I have been told to trench down to 3 feet so not to have the water line freeze when the temps have hit to 20 below at night on occasion.. Thanks for any help you can give me.

      Any pump that's uses a Franklin electric motor is good (Goulds, j-class, triseal ect) as for the tank, Well X-trol 20 gal is great quality. Some of my most popular Videos have links to Quality products I'd recommend. 3ft trench is perfect. 2ft is acceptable as well.
      I used sch40 pvc in the trench and black 200psi poly in the well. 10ft off the bottom of the well is fine for such a shallow well.
      Lots of helpful tips throughout my videos. (Well Pump Q&A Playlist)

    • @h2omechanic
      @h2omechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pvc has a 2-3 X strength, less likely for rocks to push on pipe & split it.
      Poly & pex are too plyable for trenches.
      If done it both ways. Pvc lasts way longer from my experience & way tougher.
