    When I last installed a tank, I built a solid 2ft sq platform for it to sit on. That solves all the problems with lack of clearance to rotate all the fittings. Then I had some proper labels made up so I'd remember exactly what all the valves did and where the pipes go. Gotta pre-empt that dementia...
    Good idea on pre-building all this stuff.
    I hope you plan on adding some heat tape for those pipes, that's saved my ass a few times

    Small criticism from a plumber. You could have use a metal union on the outlet side and a metal checkvalve on inlets side of the well tee. Than install male adapters into the metal females. Try to never use female pvc adapters cause that is the most common failure I come across as a service technician...
    And Teflon tape can be installed backwards because if installed the wrong way as you tighten the fitting the tape backs out of the threads and water flow through.
    The 90° in the wall you could've twisted it at an angle and than you could eliminate 2 fittings
    Other than that good video.

    I have a similar setup in my basement. Its on a concrete slab but where the flexible pipe connects to the line outside there is a hole in the wall and when it rains heavy, it comes through the hole in the wall right into the basement. I don't think the plumbers ever filled the hole with anything. Can you suggest what I can fill it with. Not sure what I can use? Expanding foam maybe?

  • @keithameerali9474
    @keithameerali9474 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did not use the Square D switch. I got a Water Worker pump control which you can adjust easily. This switch protects your pump as it does not allow the pump to run dry. It is a bit expensive but when you consider the cost of your system, better be safe than sorry.

    Once again. Your connection tee at your tank. Eliminate the female pvc fittings.
    Plus when drilling your exit hole through your floor. Don’t make them so large. You only make mouse entrance doors. That is unless you close them off with sheet metal or something??

  • @joequillun7790
    @joequillun7790 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If the check valve (which is installed on the suction side of the well pump) is installed backwards, you'll never get water to the pump.

    Hi,
    I really appreciate you doing this kind of video. I have a problem with my well pump system.
    I just got a new well drilled with a submersible pump and a new 4.5 Pressure tank, pressure switch and Cycle Stop Valve installed .
    The water pressure build up to 60psi and cut off fine, but when a valve is open the pressure drains quickly down to zero and shut off the pump.
    I tried everything to no avail. Is there anything wrong with my system? Unfortunately, it is out of the country and no one has any idea of how it works.
    Would you happen to know what could be causing the pump to shutdown when a valve is opened?

    • @sammyg3697
      @sammyg3697 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Egyah Echie cycle stop valves have one flaw which is the tank is small, I recommend a tank that can flush your toilet without turning on the pump

    • @BigWood3131
      @BigWood3131 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think your pressure switch needs to be adjusted correctly, some times they come not adjusted correctly or the pump is not able to keep up with the demand. I have seen this on a 4-5" submersible pump when the screen is plugged and had to have a well driller pull the pump and clean or replace the screen. Fix it before you burn your pump up because it won't take long

    If I have a check valve in between the well and pump inlet do I need another one between the outlet and tank?

    • @martinog1281
      @martinog1281 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, when your faucets are turned off, pressure is maintained essentially because they are air free. Well systems only need one check valve.

  • @thomashughes9542
    @thomashughes9542 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    teflon tape goes on one way There is no good and better way. If the tape is installed wrong your tape will come off the threads at you screw your threaded fittings on.

  • @ltsgarage7780
    @ltsgarage7780 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok so far so good??
    You should never use a pvc Female ips fitting. Ips female fittings over time expand then crack and break. On your first pvc female fitting you should remove that female fitting install a brass coupling then install a pvc male adapter.
    Do you understand what I’ve said???

    you said never put a check valve between the well pump and the pressure tank....then you hooked it up just that way....i am totally confused...and which side does the well water come in...left or right...i believe the well water comes in on the right and goes to the house exiting left...my left, sitting here watching ...correct??

  • @BigWood3131

    Excellent video, I am missing something. You said not to install the pressure relief valve between the pump and the tank, but that is exactly what you did. I don't see any problem with that as long as it's installed in the right direction. What am I missing here. Thanks

    • @monzahunter
      @monzahunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Direction of flow for the check valve is towards the tank, the other way is no good.

    • @SixtyNorth
      @SixtyNorth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the same question. He's talking about a ball valve with a handle, not pressure relief valve. The "check valve" or one-way flow valve *does* go between the well and the tank. The ball valve goes after. The pressure relief valve is on the tank adapter.

    • @Jasondhodges82
      @Jasondhodges82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because when the pumps shuts off, the full column of water is collapsing back down into the pump's impeller. Some guys recommend one for every 200 feet. It also prevents surging and fluctuation by keeping water pressure from going backwards.

    I loved the video I really did. My only problem is that you hardly ever mention where the jet pump will be or how the pressure switch plays a role in the system. You just say "the well". Well the line that comes from my well is a stagnant water line lol nothing moves without the pump. Obviously I would assume anyone watching this would understand but i just think if you said the pump discharge rather than the well, it would be easier on the ears. I do appreciate your video though and think you did a great job explaining discluding my small nit picky critique. Don't take my criticism as negative as I truly don't mean it to be! :)

    • @BigWood3131

      Because the T off the tank allows it to be adjusted to the required 10" off the ground and easier access. I am sure you could, but as long as the tank comes with that Brass T ,why not use it
