@Tyler Williams having had to break several addiction cycles myself, one of the best things you can do is to replace the bad habit with a good one, for instance you could try going for a run or something instead of grabbing the drink and removing the reminders from your home and life, so avoid people who trigger that temptation

I got diagnosed with a genetic disease that eats my spine and within a year she had left because i couldnt support her the same anymore. A mans loyalty is tested when we have everything. That worries me about my husband. He played football from 10 until his senior year in college. He laughs and calls himself a headhunter. He loved big hits, but now he's 45 and has blank spots in his memory, things he doesn't remember he did a year ago, forgets sometimes where our kids schools are. It scares us both, but if you asked him, he'd do it all over agsim.

My dad always told me "son, NEVER be emotional around a woman. If you need be emotional and share your issues then share them with your close buddies, me or your brother" I have lived by those words. My rocks are my father and my brother. A man is the only one who will truly understand how it is to be a man. Also, interesting fact that supports what Dax is saying in this video....80% of divorces are filed by women. Of that 80%, more than 70% of them are filed because of "money issues"....just let that sink in. This is not to say that there aren't Ride or Die women out there. They are out there. They are just extremely rare nowadays. Even more rarer by the day. Still looking for mine at 42, lol. To all of those women out there that will ride or die for their man, no matter the situation. Thank you.

Anything we share about how we feel or what we think can and will be used against us by the women in our lives who don't need us anyway

It's hurts to be a man since all we do is provide and get no recognition for it. My mother just left my father today and all because she wants "freedom". Said that she fell out of love for my dad and it broke me. Mostly him but pretty much all his accomplishments and love and nothing to her now. No recognition of love back and it hurts me also because I don't want that to happen to me either but it's expected of us men to just suck it up and give life the old "Be Tough". I'm just ranting but us men have it much harder since everything is expected of us.

I heard this song for the first time a week ago. My fiancé is very good at reading me. This song came on the the car ride back from work. She just asked me if it’s how I really felt. I said 100%. I’ve been degraded by so many exes that I hide everything. I have dealt with a torn labrum in my shoulder for six years cuz I’ve just been told to suck it up. She not only encouraged me to get it checked out but showed up when I got it checked out. Been through me through all of it. Ever since she heard this song, she’s told me everyday how much I’m appreciated. How much she loves me. Encourages me to tell her anything I’m feeling. I’m so grateful for her. It’s insane how a couple comments or kind words mean the world to a man

This song broke me. As a divorced vet with TBI and PTSD. This hit home and the remix spoke my life. I will just say it's what it is. It's funny, when I go for walks, I will smile at my neighbors as we share hi's as I walk alone. They see me as the old vet that's not afraid of anything, that they can count on, who no one really talks with, so I talk on platforms like this. I wonder how they would see me if they knew I wake in the morning thinking shit I'm still here, so I continue trying to be who God wants me to be to others. I just no longer trust the responses back. I just figured, I will continue on until God decides I have been through enough.

My wife and i have been together since 1997. We raised to amazing young men. But since my accident i have not just lost the ability to provide, i have also lost the ability to do remedial things like enjoy the warmth of the sun. But also to fullfill husbandly duties.
So even though shes still here and my rock. I still feel less than every day. Depression kicks my ass every time i wake up. Bless her and my boys, but nothing takes away how i feel on a daily basis. But she does try.

As a man who's been jobless for about 10yrs now cause i've had some serious health issues going through surgeries, a ROUGH break up when i was at my lowest and barley held on by a straw i know for a fact that the world just views you different if you ain't paid! No one cares "why" you aren't working, as soon as they hear "I'm unemployed" the attitude shifts.. Especially on women if you're trying to date.. At one point i went almost 8 months without talking to a single person (except the store clerk when shopping).. I'm better now and i pulled my self through, not 100% on my feet yet but it's getting closer and closer, and im only 34!
To anyone out there that's going through it, just keep pushing and NEVER give up! Bring out that warrior from within and prove to yourself that you won't let the people who do love you down.. A Viking Quote i took to heart and really helped me: "There is more honor in accumulating little by little then reaching for the sky and end up flat on your face"

Dax hits it on the head with this one. Men hold everything inside because showing emotion is considered a weakness and a lot of women will say we can open up to them, only to turn around and use it against us later on. It has bred an idea of going alone instead of being broken again and again and again.

Unfortunately it's not ok to show emotion, women see it as a sign of weakness. We get ostracized by both men and women for showing emotions. As a white male its a double whammy . I raised my son alone ,paid my child support to a alcholic women who barely even gives my boy a phone call . And yet I still help her out on occasion because she's my childs mom . My son is grown now and swears he'll never marry because he has seen just how the world really is . And that breaks my heart .

I've had more tragedy than anyone should have to deal with. Even through all the tragedy and death, I cannot remember tears. I even turned my back on our Lord, and it took me over 45 years before I walk through those doors again.
This song is a summary of our lives, and our shoulders are forced to bear that weight no matter what.

That is the biggest problem with a man. If we can feel that we have a feeling of anonymity, we might chance speaking. I could never speak of some of the feelings of self-destructive depression, or even worse, how I am treated.
I once tried to speak of how I feel to someone close and was ridiculed.
However, I do teach the boys that I teach through anecdotes.

Thank you. It's nice to hear something like that. Even though my wife is like that, I always forgive her. She learned it from her mother. I do my best to help others, too. I try to teach boys to be strong, but to also find a person that they can trust completely to speak to about things that they would never share with anyone else. Here in Taiwan, families are very conservative and are taught that men are basically mules. I teach them that they are extremely important. Without them, the world stops. They must find happiness in their lives, not just taking on the weight of everyone around them.

the "things that you provide is why she stays" is not only a feeling, its almost 100% of the time life experience. This is how a majority of women tend to behave. Even the slightest hint that the providing might stop or slow down, and they are looking for the door. Words are trumped by actions, and actions are what inspired this line.

You’re eyes are incredible! Thank you for your words. Stay up men! This song isn’t a complaint by a man speaking for men. Its the theme song of us men who do all these things with pride and honor. We wear the badge of men for our families and ask nothing in return. Its not that we’ve evolved that way, its how we’re wired. We risk our lives if it means those we love and lead over are taken care of. Its biology. And we are ok with that.

Naturally, the bathroom is the best place to cry and let emotions out. Needless to say, my wife will think you are busy with your mobile device. I was taught from small to be a soldier for my family and community, not to complain. My wife doesn't understand, and it is hard she is my life, but I can't break down in front of her. Had tried it once and got shut down very fast. Hence, thank you for your appreciation it means a whole lot of heck more than you know.

Actions speaks louder then words so I finally left when I felt like I had no hope and no love in the home. It was the best decision I made for me in decades. I know you'll accomplish great things in your life, and I want to know about it when you do."
I still think about that probably once or twice every two months or so, for a mere moment. Until I realize that I haven't. I probably won't. And it kind of sucks that she might be waiting for me to let her know I did it. Never have I, and never will I expect to receive something like that again from someone. Genuine kindness.

There's no need for the pressure to provide for me anymore since it was never appreciated anyway. Working 18 hour days, 6 days a week, then coming home to cook dinner and clean house. I never got a single sign of appreciation until it was payday. Sometimes it is better off to be alone.

*When I'm spending more than 20 minutes in a shower I'm sitting in the tub, water running over me and crying out everything I've built up being a man as well as the memories that came back to haunt me again.* Spent 4 years as infantry in combat followed by being a firefighter/medic before switching to law enforcement. I took care of my mom as she died from cancer. I took care of my dad after his quadruple bypass and 2 strokes. I've helped my siblings when they were at their rock bottom. All while taking care of my own little family. Yes flashbacks are real. I relive combat, see the eyes of those I wasn't able to save looking back into mine and feel that lifeless baby I couldn't revive in my arms. But when my family asks how my day was all I'll say is it was good. They don't need to worry or suffer with me. All I want my family to know is that they are loved, safe and taken care of.

I also wanted to point out that not all men think emotion is a weakness. The issue is if your wife is worrying about something or stressed and then you express worry or to much emotion it adds even more stress on her. For instance if money is tight and bills are coming, and you say you will figure it out and do (consistently) it creates less stress for her. But if she brings it up and you admit your worried too and break down a little now she is even more stressed and worried because she knows you are too. So as a man it feels better to never stop grinding (Pretending to be okay) and take the load off the family than it does to increase the worry the family already has. I do not think its the showing emotion part for a lot of men, I think its the trying to keep from adding more stress or worry on the family. At least that is what it is for me... Not real sure of the solution for it. But I absolutely love this song. Also the feel like she is with you for what you provide line doesn't necessarily mean she actually is. At least to me. For me its an internal battle in my head that tells myself that even if she doesn't show it. Not sure why though. But it has always been that way.

So many things I want to say... First, Thank you. For men it's easy to forget that there are genuinely good women out there who actually care. I had a good family, and I have a wonderful loving wife, and believe me I know how lucky I am and how rare that is. You are one of the few I have seen react to this song and actually get it.
I am disabled and have a hard time physically going places to make friends so a few years ago I started a discord server with the intention for it to be a fun relaxing place for good people to meet and play games online together. Share their stories and lives, etc. We were almost overwhelmed with the amount of men out there of all ages, creeds, and races who just needed a place to escape to and someone to talk to about their day. It very quickly became not just a fun place to hang out but also a support group of sorts. There are people there who would have taken their own lives had they not found our group. But It's just a drop in the ocean, and it scares me how close so many men are to the edge and how many women, their families included, have no clue or don't care.
Part of me feels that something has to inevitably change, but the more cynical side knows that nothing will change until its so bad it can no longer be ignored. And every day the toll grows larger and larger. This song encapsulates decades of pain felt by generations of men, and I talk to them every day. Good people who were swept under the rug and forgotten about. It's terrifying that this is where we are at, and how simple and easy the solution is. Just listening to someone and letting them vent the stress of their day, or just knowing someone out there (no matter how far away) cares what happens to you can be all that is needed to stop a tragedy.
