Retired now, laid brick, block & stone all my life. Stu, your technique is spot on. A pleasure to watch. I wish I could jump on the scaffolding and build, knock the banter around and enjoy working the craft again. 👍
I just started college doing the bricklaying course and watching your videos have helped me so much and got so many tips and tricks of you. Absolutely brilliant stuff, hope I can do what you do one day, all the best 😀
The attention to detail of your door and window openings is superb, bordering on bespoke. Here in the states masons typically throw down a rusty piece of angle iron and slap bricks on top. It works well enough at first, but not long term. Your work is amazing.
The progress is fantastic Stu. Love every second of your videos. Love and respect to the crew 👍👍💪💪. And yes nothing but a good old sunshine in the morning. Godspeed mate 💪💪.
Mint job as always Stu. 👍 Worked shifts since I was 20 and whether your just starting work or going home you can't beat a clear sunrise. And here, it was good of Noel to let you use his tunes lol.
Mint brickwork .. I always use the profile for soldier courses .. gauge the profile up and you can see if you need to open or tighten up to make it work. Also, a tip for you maybe you already know but do away with the top line and set your profile along the top edge of the course and you can use this as your line to get down to and straight edge to follow :). My bum twitched at that lintel not being propped too 😬🤣
Good on you guys, Just starting my building stint at age 55. Should be more options for upwards 12 - 16 year old youth to learn ''needed'' skilled trades.!
Should have a temporary prop in the middle of the lintels until the mortar has cured mate, also takes the bounce out the longer spans when laying the courses over the openings and makes it easier. Cheers
It's amazing to watch these guys work. The older I get the more I appreciate the guys and gals who make the effort to master their craft.

Superb! Just found the channel and it looks like I'm in the right place - really satisfying to watch, thanks for the upload!
Thankyou
Did I just see a post in UK bricklaying? I thought that was unheard of.. from across the pond in Canada... Clean work blokes
I always prop the middle of lintel to stop that little bit of bounce or vibration whilst laying the soldiers.. especially on openings that size
Real Professionals! A pleasure to watch top notch work :) TY Stu!

These are heavy duty lintels, cheers
@@Stucrompton1 Doesn't matter, they need propping until mortar has sufficiently cured. Even a RSJ/PFC etc. Needs propping
Good job, nice to see a slicer and not a smudger

Who knew watching bricklaying and Oasis were such an awesome combination.
You can endlessly look at three things: how the fire burns, how the water flows and how Stu Crompton works!
You make learning a joy
Sick content as always Stu and co. Every house you built should've a "BB" stamp on it somewhere!
