    Wish your vids had been around when I was a young apprentice back in the day. Passing on tips and experience was not something the older blokes were much good at, so you learned very slowly and sometimes never got to know some of the more efficient ways of doing stuff. You’re a top lad and a very good teacher

    I was the lead man back in the day, but I always started with the corner brick. First time I've seen it done this way.

    Seems like a simple task, but as a stone lad, that corner in brick would take me an hour.
    Loving these schooldays thanks Charlie, the fluency game is what I lack, I can see your vids speeding me up quite a bit in the future when I have to lay brick.

    Phenomenal video for young lads. You won't build a bang on corner free hand any quicker whilst being as neat as you have just shown in 20 minutes. Great point about chucking the 20+ high courses in the bin too.
    I can see you have your mind on chucking a few videos out for the apprentices/improvers to just condition their thought process when starting a bit of work.
    Well done on the tip to show em about the snots coming back through on to the next course. The Nhbc seem to car more about cavity cleanliness than whether a house was built plumb lol.
    👍

      😂 behave, depends wat stage of your career your at, ya wouldn’t show a Green trowel Charlie, ya would show him Deano the traditional bricklayer, he’s a old school Bricky where Charlie is the modern Bricky, but thts not saying Charlie doesn’t or wasn’t taught the old ways, but they don’t show or tell u anything about a profile, clamps or pick and dip in college when doing your city and guilds 👍

      @@davidwilkinson8958 Nah, everything about Charlie far exceeds Traditional Bricklayer. Charlie's mentality and attitude is far better. Open to learning new methods and techniques, how he sets up, just his all round game is miles a head. Plus Charlie's quality is far better, quicker and more efficient.

    • @stevendunn5430
      @stevendunn5430 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @davidwilkinson8958 the traditional bricklayer is shite!
      Right down in my estimation.
      Start with Charlie from start to end. Once youve watced them all, your half way a bricklayer (providing you already know the basics, level 1)
      Cant go wrong mate!

    I used to throw up 18 and 21 course corners, didn’t take me long sometimes it’s hard to get profiles up and corners are the better option, plumb the first couple of course and you can use your eye to plumb up the next 4 or 5 course with no problem, get a standing height made out for your courses to keep the height correct and level every course, for some reason I found corners easy, I began at the corner and worked outwards, also on houses we old timers worked overhand all the building was done from inside the house pain in the backside jointing maximum of roughly 6 course before pointing, nice work guys

    @MartynJones-y7f ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice work esp how u picked up the last brick with the trowel 😊 one tip i learnt the hard way might be worth a mention if you are using the level a lot is, as you get higher up i.e brick work higher than the length of yr level, dont lean it on the wall as it can wedge in a bed joint and the flex in the scaffold boards can lift the bricks above, not a massive deal usually just a pain in the ass getting them looking tidy again.
    Keep up the good work found it therapeutic watching and listening to u do that 🥴

    С голыми руками и кучами раствора рядом...это не возможно в России, где кладут кирпич полгода при отрицательных температурах. Вы работаете в тепличных условиях, господа! И стена в пол-кирпича-это самая легкая практика для каменщика. Я сейчас при минус 5-8 выкладываю часовню с толщиной стены 77см...

    Building a corner prior to running in is redundant for cosmetic purposes because once you run the line in then look down the bed joint theres a kink where the both corners have
    been built, and it looks RAF. Using profiles, you get a nice straight bedjoint all the way through each course.. Can't believe this still has to be explained. lol
