Desperate animals will do desperate things in desperate times. I'd check the local area and see what's up. 35 years and no problem and then all of a sudden... are there fires in that area?
Yes and no. First off no one should ever feed Wildlife that's true however Common Sense should tell you that that's not the reason for this issue. She's been feeding them for decades and nothing and now suddenly within 6 weeks time she got over 100 raccoons visiting her that does not indicate don't feed wildlife. To people that care about Wildlife that indicates there's some sort of problem going on in the ecosystem that occurred 6 weeks ago. Because if you understand any kind of animal at all you understand that something like this doesn't just suddenly occur out of nowhere in 6 weeks time Barry there has to be an issue going on because Common Sense would tell you if just feeding Wildlife was the problem then she'd have this problem decades ago shortly after she started feeding them
OR, shall we say STOP ELIMINATING their Food SOURCES and LIVING space. Biodiversity people, it's no joke. If we continue to not prioritize wildlife we are all going to be wading around in 2ft. of water, competing with other Alpha predators and dying from new strains of mosquito viruses. Share the Land, it is not ours. There is a balance that doesn't result in this adorable, yet troubling problem.
I’ve said this before, we need non profits or departments of wildlife organizations that grow and maintain healthy plants, vegetation that wild animals eat in our forests (perhaps natural shelter, clean streams so animals avoid coming into urban areas or our communities looking for it!

So This is why I don’t have raccoons in my backyard! They all went to her house.
Moral of this issue...Don't feed the wildlife.
Exactly.

one of the outside raccoons ran around screaming about a "place of abundance"
