Must have been exhausting but she didn’t stop until she had each and every baby. Remarkable. Also the way she doesn’t hesitate about the new babies, she’s just like, whelp guess I have double the babies now 🤷‍♀️. You’re a total rockstar mama ❤.

    I found you as I was researching what to do about a single baby raccoon orphan that was sleeping by an office I clean. He was younger than these baby’s and momma didn’t come back. I didn’t want to risk him taking off and being killed and he was not old enough to fend for himself.
    I found someone that works at a vets office and has experience with raccoon rescue. She said he’s weak. He made it through the night and now he’s trying to get the bottle going. Fingers crossed he makes it.
    Fun to see these healthy babies getting a new mom!! Never knew such a thing could happen.

    Very cool, I find they are way more maternal then we know. I get to watch them during the day and over night at my job, I find when they hear a baby cry they will all go running. They are also very protective of the young, one evening I seen an owl go after a baby, all the females went to the aid of the baby and scared the owl away.

    I really like the way you act towards these precious creatures! One absolutely innocent curiosity: I understand the need to find another mum for the little orphans but isn’t it a lot to burden the surrogate mum with other 4 babies? How can she deal with that crowd of creatures in need? I know nothing about raccoons so believe me my question is not at all polemic. Thank you for what you do, I really appreciate it. 👍🏻👏🏻

    • @ghostboy4115
      @ghostboy4115 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Im pretty sure since they are older they are less of a burden then if they were all younger (eyes closed, can’t walk, only drinking milk etc.) i cant tell exact age from the video but they are atleast able to move on their own, eyes open and most likely also eating solid foods (bugs, human food waste, dead or small live animals, berries, nuts, etc.) so hopefully it won’t be too much of a bother.
      Juvenile raccoons do stay with their family a bit longer than other species but thats even after they are entirely weened.
      Im not super sure on how this might impact the mom since I haven’t worked with raccoons personally before (not allowed to work with rabies vector species yet) so im hoping these folks can reply with a better answer than i can give.

    • @arohk1579
      @arohk1579 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@ghostboy4115your answer was pretty much spot on, one thing I seen is they do live in groups and take care of the young. I watch them all the time at work and have seen up to 10 babies being cared for by 3 females. I have been lucky as I got to learn a lot by watching their behavior over the last two years and seen and got to know two generations of Raccoons.

    Mama raccoons are a vibe on their own. I came home one night with my newborn nephew in the car crying. I got out and went to walk around to the backseat to get him out but, before could make it to his door, a huge raccoon dove onto the roof of the car, stood up on her back legs, screaming at me and straight up lunging at me if I got too close to the car. My pop heard me scream and ran outside. Fortunately, he knew exactly what was happening. He explained that it was a mama, who likely had babies in the garage, being protective of my nephew. My pop went through the house and turned on the light in the garage and distracted her long enough for me to grab the car seat and run in the house. I gained a whole new level of love & adoration for mama raccoons that night. And, pop was right, she had 4 little babies in the loft of the garage. I enjoyed watching them grow and start exploring on their own. I did this from afar, of course. ❤🦝

    Do you ever try to find where the 2nd location is? Just to make sure that it's in a safe and secure place? It had to have been close by in order for her to be that quick. Sending light and love to that Momma and all her babies. ❤❤❤

    This was a re run! I’ve seen it before! Nothing wrong with watching it again and again and again!
    Thank You for saving all of the babies! They have a new Mom! ❤️

      It's not a dang rerun! It's a second part of the last video they posted with the orphan babies. They simply put some of the last footage in so viewers can follow. Now they're showing you the new family.

      @@asleepbydawn137 I saw this video about a month ago! The orphaned babies plus the new Mom and all of the babies outcome and where they went! You don’t have to be rude about it! It’s a re-run, re-run!

    She all of a sudden, has double the babies. Poor mama, though she is so determined to get all of them, she's probably exhausted. This was really neat to see, such an amazing little racoon mama.

    So sweet, thank you. we have 3 that come every evening to eat. Their mom was not with them and they were so skinny and little. They are big now and seem healthy.

    This just warms my heart so much! Thank you for what you do and with such care and compassion! You and your Daughter are incredible humans! That is such an incredible Momma!!! Watching her take all 8 babies one by one, including the orphans, was absolutely incredible! I just have a question, wherever she moved them too, obviously not too far since she came back so quickly, do you get called back from a neighbor that the Momma moved them right next door to a different home?

    I'm surprised at how well the orphan babies were, having been without their mum for a few days. They must have been starving

    This also highlights the incredible power of the natural world which puts much of humanity into the shade.

    As smart as Raccoons are, I thought she would have kept a count. Amazing she accepts them so easily.
