Living your retirement years in a country that is not yours, completely deprived of your roots, immersed in a different culture, in relationship with a language whose nuances you will never understand and far from your loved ones and friends of all life, is absolutely one of the most infinitely sad things a man can do. I pity those who make this unfortunate choice.

And how about insurance, it is mandatory.
@@Cakewalkingbaby I went first as an English teacher (although my certificate is Chemistry). This is a low income job at first.. Residents without Italian citizenship can join the national healthcare stystem for an annual fee (minimum 2k), go private, or both; as many do.
@@smartmoveitaly thank you for replying, i always wonder about that. $2k annually is not bad. So very happy for you two. We love Europe too but hesitate bc of health insurance just in case if we are sick, then what. ♥️
You can't wear perfumes in Canadian gym and hospitals etc?? As for people who smoke, well, in Italy and France it is a national pastime.
Most businesses and all public offices you can't wear perfumes and definitly no smoking in outdoor terraces or even walking down the street or within 3 meters of a doorway.
Poppycock! Smoking in Italy and France is everywhere. Canada is suffering unfortunately like most other western nations with Wokey leaders, just like here in Australia.
@@glennmorrissey2529in France, smoking is forbidden restaurants
Marco I recognize your voice here. I have appointment with Samantha next week. you two obviously know each other. FUN.
Yes, we love working with Marco!
Love it ❤….
Can she collect her Canadian pension while living abroad full-time? She would have paid into that for her entire working career, that would be a significant loss...
Yes, most Elective Residency Visa holders receive pension from their home country. You can learn more here smartmoveitaly.com/ervassistance
Dam these are rich people. Where do teachers go?
😂Mexico
LOL she is the financial planner… she wants to do it that’s it. Its very difficult for the average expat from US. She speaks fluent Italian. Shes loaded. Don’t think anyone can do this . Culture shock. People on the internet aren’t always telling the exact truth.
Wise
I heard that you have to be Italian to live there. Yes?
No, but citizenship makes it easier. If you don't have European citizenship/heritage, you can stay in Italy long-term with a visa. Feel free to download our free visa guide here smartmoveitaly.com/visa22 and explore citizenship through descent here smartmoveitaly.com/citizenship 🇮🇹
Italy is a nightmare! Why would you move to Italy? I'm trying to go and live somewhere outside the UE.
Rieccolo
Same.
Rented?
Good for you, western countries are not livable. Italy, Greece in the countryside is great. Simple life. Nick Melbourne Australia
Get out nick if you can! I’ve regretted staying for 30 years
@@lemilemi5385thanks. Live in outer Melbourne, semi rural. Still not far enough. Planning to move about 3 hours north east on acreage, warmer. All the best
I can't - Nobody wants to buy my stuff.
She speaks Italian… molte importante :) plenty of retirement money… smart lady.
She is the perfect example of how to plan and prepare for the move.
@@smartmoveitalyIt took her 30 years to prepare for the move, so good luck people! Maybe, just maybe you will move to your dream house in Italy in 2054😂
I am kidding, of course. My Italian is pretty decent and will probably spend more time in Italy next time I go. Mi piace il Nord ma penso che la gente del Sud siano più amichevoli. Non lo so,a c'è più opportunità di parlare l'italiano. Questa è la mia opinione personale 😊
Your pitiful response may be considered arrogant by some. I was about to explain why and it is likely that to write the comment you did is indicative of an organism that is not capable of reflection, learning nor understanding logic.
You can pity them if you want but her and thousands of others are living their life!
I know I am in Portugal and thousands have done the same.
You learn the language, make new friends, have new adventures!
@@sarah-wl1py I agree. I have lived in Spain,Italy and China and am heading to try a mountain city in Mexico. I have met fabulous friends, had wonderful adventures and kept my sense of curiosity. I am almost 60 years of age and am feeling as thrilled and excited by life as ever.
@@dlwilliamson5644I’m considering moving to another country as well but some practical things are giving me doubt. For instance in some countries you have to have an income or a job before moving there. How do you go about it? Do you first rent, live of your savings until you find a job? And how about insurance, it is mandatory.
@@Cakewalkingbaby I went first as an English teacher (although my certificate is Chemistry). This is a low income job at first.. The company that hires you will offer low rent apartments that are not high end OR you can get to your country a little early and rent AirBnB just to get to know the area. Another side hustle that worked for me was not only teaching high school kids also teaching exercise classes for cash. I hope this helps. It is a wonderful (not perfect) adventure wherein you will meet like minded adventurers who will be friends for decades.
I found the language barrier very hard to accept, not many Italians like to speak English! So I would advise learning the Italian!,, 😔😔
Buy yourself a collins English and Italian dictionary it really is easy
What to do if at 77 you don’t speak the language?
In large cities, it's easy to find English (Spanish, etc) speakers due to tourism. There are also many Italian schools/classes to learn.
Use sign language 😂. We gesticulate a lot 😂
😅🎉@@angelaberni8873
Sorry, but you are living in the country, the second..., so you should take a shower early in the morning and put on your favourite smell. And everything nice you have
Now you're there please pronounce the Italian name correctly like Tuscany it is not English word and good like
Did you ask the Italians if they want people's form other countries in theyr country???
Rude!
