Hey Archie. I sent you an email some time ago after my son died. I got a Submariner shortly after and, in my unfathomable grief, I looked at that watch as a source of consolation. Of course nothing but faith in God can console us upon such a loss. I’m now grieved to learn of the passing of your son. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. It’s been 16 years for me since my boy left the Earth. I will pray for your son, you and all your family. ✝️❤️🙏🏼

Once upon a time Archie's advices: if you're looking for a Breguet go for a Breguet XX Aeronavale 3800 39mm steel on leather strap and don't buy any other Breguet but the XX especially not the 42mm or larger models especially and not in precious metals they are shixxers, don't buy any other JLC but the iconic Reverso models in steel which are a good choice especially look for the Grand Reverso with grand date and dont buy any Master Compressor model they a shixxers, the Zenith Chronomaster open heart is a shixxer with nice movement that Rolex used but nevertheless Zenith is still a shixxer , buy the Explorer Polar 40mm it's bang for the buck don't buy the 42mm. Archie is consistently unconsistent. Bravo!

Yes, this is all very new and useful information, at least for those of us who got into watches 5 seconds ago. If I had 50 bucks to my name I'd buy a collection review from this watch market genius, but unfortunately I am currently reduced to roasting dead rats over a burning trash bin after listening to his repeated advice to just buy Rolex at inflated grey market prices, because they totally keep their value and are easy to sell.

I have been watching the Rolex market here in the United States on the grey market and I see no difference in prices today as was a year ago. There has been no discounts on second hand Rolex watches whatsoever. The prices are still astronomical.
Agreed, there's also been little to no change in the pre-owned market. Delusional sellers on Chrono24 still asking covid-hype prices for 20 year old pieces that are over-polished with mismatched boxes. Reality is going to hit soon.

I said over two years ago, where there is a bubble there is a burst, and watches are no different. I was ruined by Grey market dealers . i also said watches are not an Investment , and again I got caned. Watch dealers do not understand markets or economics or finance , that much is clear. I work in Private Equity, I know a thing about investments, economics, and Finance .PhD

The whole concept of preserving your purchasing power in an object, is corrupt. Our economic system doesn’t reward investors that “cash out”.

Can't buy a vanilla Rolex from an authorised dealer for love nor money. Not a collector, I just wanted to treat myself to a decent watch. Went for an Omega Seamaster Pro instead. Supply is plentiful and I'm chuffed with the watch. I would have gone with a Rolex Oyster if it wasn't for zero availability. Doesn't make sense to me.

Archie bang on. My Wos AD in the UK , says stuff across the whole range is not moving, from small to big pieces, consequently there is a range of stuff available as walk-ins. Yet they grey market insist they are selling as much as ever, yeah, right oh. Grey market dealers are still asking mental Covid prices, hence month on month they are stuck with the same inventory, two years on. Jokers.
