The secret to chicken rice is in the chilli...add ginger and the thick black sauce into your chilli and dip your chicken into it before eating it with some rice

Even though Singapore is in the tropics and it's assumed that the weather is the same all year round, there are actually hot months and cooler months. The really hot months are usually from April to June. Then the in-between hot ones are from July to October. November to March are the cooler months due to the onset of the North-East Monsoon where the winds comes from the South China Sea. To us any day when it's below 30C is considered cool. Hope you enjoy your stay here. Have fun!

The sad thing about visiting Singapore is that in terms of things like public transport, urban spaces and average incomes is you realise how far the UK has fallen behind. Unlike travellers like you most of the UK seems unaware. Sure there are downsides as no place is perfect - eg it does not have the UK's countryside. But even in defence Singapore has almost as many fighter jets as UK which is far smaller than other Asian nations like S Korea, Japan, Taiwan and a fraction of China or US. More people need to find out about what other countries do - like majority of Singaporeans live in public / social sector housing.

Is that $22 for two beers? Including tax? Cos I never paid anywhere close to $22 for one beer when I was there.
And yep, give it two weeks, many acclimate to the weather. It's funny, after staying there a while, seeing white friends start to wear cardigans sometimes.
Also, look up which country has the highest recycling rate (tonnage percentage of waste that actually gets recycled). Plastics were actually invented to be recycled, which made them more eco-friendly to use than bio-degradable materials (which use way more energy and water to produce). In Singapore, because of all the recycling capacity they've invested in and effective refuse laws, there'd actually be more wastage if they switched to bio-degradable forks and bags etc.
It's a piece of science that eco-warriors overlook.
They only have one landfill, and it's not even a conventional landfill. For comparison: I currently live in New Zealand, which has a smaller population than SG, but over 60 active official landfills. And because of overlooking the science, NZ actually has a much, much lower rate of recycling.
And, for the upteenth time, it's not illegal to have gum. It's illegal to sell it (unless by prescription at a pharmacy). It's actually a quirky part of their litter law policies that overall has actually delivered. But yeah, if you happen to have some gum on ya that you bought from Malaysia for example, you're chewing it on the street, there's nothing in the laws to act on that.

That was $22 for one beer, plus tax! It was in a craft brewery though, so we probably should've known better haha. Thanks for the info that's really interesting about the recycling/landfills!

    Singapore is Plastastic!😅😅😅
We are slowly moving towards banning plastic... but I tell you why it's has taken so long...yup, you guess it, many businesses dealing in supplying this outrageous plastic/foam will be affected.
