Hi, this is truly the best video I have seen so far about Singapore. It really reflects the truth about living in Singapore rather than others lamenting the high costs of living (by not comparing the world economic situation) n a boring place to live in. You can be considered local citizens now! Thanks for your compliment of Singapore n continue to enjoy your stay here!

I like to add in one more…. Although Singapore is small , it is very close to many countries; Less than one hour journey to Malaysia , Thailand and Indonesia. Four hours to HK and China. And our currency is very strong and our income is very high and employment rate is very high . When we are bore, we can travel to other countries for a short trip. We are very proud to call Singapore our home.

As a local, I cannot disagree with proposal made. I have worked with many expats in the past and they practically adore the practicality to use Singapore as a spring board to make short tours to all our neighbouring countries whenever they have the opportunities. Of course, typically, you have to take all the precautions to look after your own affairs when you are abroad. That 's expected from anyone. Enjoy!

great to know that Safety is ur No.1. 🎉 Not many ppl appreciate this intangible thing when they visit or live here and usually complain about less important things like “too many cctv, no freedom, no this no that”. I have traveled close to 50 countries and 150 cities (live and worked in 2), and has not found one that i could feel safe walking the street at 2am in the morning.

Thank you for posting this lovely video about Singapore. My siblings and I were supposed to go to Singapore for a 10-day vacation, but we had to change our minds and go to Malaysia instead.
Unfortunately, the Aussie dollar was very weak against the Singapore dollar at the time and financially it will make better sense if we visited Malaysia as our dollar stretched further.
But we did have a wonderful time in Malaysia.
I hope to go back to Singapore Feb next year for the Chinese New Year and it is true, that Singapore is extremely clean and safe. The food and the mixed culture make it an interesting and exciting place to visit. May you both continue to explore and enjoy Singapore.

Singapore has One of the best and most advanced healthcare system in asia. It's posing itself to be a preferred destination for medical needs in the Asia-Pacific region (rich people from Asia do not need to go to US for advanced treatments).
Foreigner residents can participate in SG's universal healthcare, which is not free, but relatively inexpensive compared to private insurance (for inpatient hospitalization & surgeries). Non-Singaporeans/PRs do have to pay quite a bit more than "locals" because they do not get govt subsidies. And since Singapore is so small, the ambulance's trip to major hospitals do not take long 😂

NYC, London and Toronto have way more diversity in food than Singapore. You can't get good Caribbean, Latin American, Mexican, African, Soul Food, Texas BBQ, Pizza etc in Singapore whereas in NYC, London and Toronto you can get literally everything from every continent in the world simply because of the cultural diversity of these 3 cities. My favorite food in the world is Trini cuisine like Roti, Doubles, Aloo Pie etc and you can't get that anywhere in Singapore. The food quality in Singapore is good, but definitely heavily leaning towards Asian food.

I think thats normal though. I have never been to NYC but it won't have the authentic Asian food experiences that you get here just because it is so far away.
The cuisine you mentioned is mostly in the America's which you will naturally find more of in that part of the world.

@@ACoupleOfKiwis Well you can get Trini food in London, which is far from Trinidad. Plus sone of the best Asian food in NYC and California is on par or better than Asian food even in Asia. Don't forget that there are 30 million Asians in the USA, many of whom are good cooks and they all demand good Asian food. The US can import the ingredients from Asia no problem. Some of the best omakase sushi restaurants in NYC get fresh shipments of fish from Japan everyday. Whereas in Singapore, it's just not diverse enough to have everything cities like NYC, LA and London have. Yes there is Western and Asian food there but a lot is missing - Portuguese, Jamaican, Brazilian BBQ, American fast food brands etc. I am Asian American born and raised in NYC but have worked all over Asia from Singapore to Hong Kong and I definitely missed a lot of food from back home, including good Asian food. SriPraPhai in NYC for example is still better than any Thai food I've had in Thailand despite going to Thailand a lot when I lived in Asia.

Having done my teaching degree with you Matt, how easy was it for you to get work in Singapore? What are the pay comparisons? What are schools like for expat kids? What does a school day look like? Have you found it easy to get to know people in Singapore? Can you buy a house? What are the price comparison's compared to NZ? Or buy a condo? Would love to know (if you haven't already done it) comparisons between NZ and Singapore.

Contrary to belief, you are allow to bring gums into Singapore for your own consumption. Just to ensure no littering when you're done with it.

Thanks for the video! Just a feedback: many of us watch video on a 1,5-2,0x speed, in this way, it is really annoying to listening with the type of background music you choose, I advise to consider other type

What you do not tell whoever is reading your vlog that Singapore is a rich man's country. The ordinary person does not order groceries to be delivered. You may have lots of money to live in Singapore compared to New Zealand. Today 2 million people who moved to Singapore are either expatriates or in the upper income group

I think it really depends. Since COVID, I know of many locals who have turned to food and grocery delivery sometimes and many companies now have more decent subscription plans. I used to find it very expensive but some days Panda Mart has really helped me and the prices are similar to FairPrice. I’m a local by the way.
Also, they did mention food delivery is something they like to do once in a while. And they mentioned them enjoying hawker food and its affordable prices.
Singapore is really getting more expensive but some people still readily and willingly pay for an expensive bubble tea after lunch… I think once in a while an indulgence is fine.
