Singapore is country #5 for our travels so far! We're excited to explore this amazing city and see what it has to offer 🇸🇬 What neighborhood do you prefer - Arab Street or Marina Bay?
Fun fact: Marina Bay Sands sits on fresh water. It is separated from sea water by the Marina Barrage. The fresh water reservoir serves as a storage area for drinking water before they are treated. The planning took decades before it came into fruition.
SG has a habit of regularly maintaining its buildings and facilities. The Merlion was scheduled for maintenance. Bear in mind it hasn't been serviced for more than 5 years. Our wet markets have to be shut down for 2 to 3 days for cleaning and maintenance every year!
Such a genuine and beautiful couple! Theirs positive and happy aura is such a joy to take in. Keep up the good work guys! Welcome to Singapore and stay this way always! ❤️ And the Merlion is under repair to give everyone a better experience once it’s finished. So do come back again! 👌🏻
@@ChangingLocations I hope so too🤣. It has been ages since I visited the Merlion up close and I too am looking forward to the new spruced up Merlion! Stay safe always, stay happy always and remember Singapore welcomes you both always.👌🏻
Love to see both of you the impressions and true feelings out describing your fellings for your tour in Singapore....i really love to watch how happy you both are here
They do regular maintenance for the Merlion. Welcome to SG. Great video and personalities. Hope your channel grow. Hope you did the light show in Gardens By the Bay
The main merlion sculpture itself is an artwork. Need some aesthetic repair every few years as it's constantly exposed to the weather otherwise it will degrade itself.
Merlion is under maintenance. To keep everything nice clean working, we do maintain it. We try not to look at profits etc as many does then lack maintaining. Welcome to my country Singapore
Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the lotus shaped Arts & Science museum was designed by Israeli architect Moshe Safdie. He also designed the iconic housing building with a garden in the sky called the Sky Habitat. You can go up to this sky garden...free...and see the city of singapore from a high vantage point. I like his pretty accurate cultural knowledge of Singapore. He has done his research. By the way official language of chinese is mandarin. This is because Chinese includes other Chinese dialects like Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, etc. Singapore does not officially recognise these dialects as the only official written Chinese language is Mandarin (although Cantonese does have a written form). Again there is a reason why singapore chose Mandarin and not the other Chinese dialects.
Moshe Safdie the architect of Marina Bay Sands and The Jewel Changi Airport. The Merlion had some cracked so they restored it back and it's already open yesterday 09/12. It's the most beautiful city to me at night especially the waterfront.
Here's an interesting fact: the black portion of the structures, just below the golden domes of Sultan Mosque, are actually glass bottles donated to the mosque for its construction.
I’m a Singaporean living in California and am very impressed with your research and knowledge about my homeland. Most Americans only know Singapore from the pics of the airport and MBS. You guys are making me look forward to my next visit back home! I hope you guys are headed to Malaysia or Bali next. Stay safe. FYI, I hate durian 😂
Aaaw sorry you missed the big Merlion. But fun fact, the small merlion actually was the 1st merlion put up long ago, even before everything you see in the area was put up
Just for infor. Sg has 4 official languages. English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. Most singaporeans can speak English. Malay is spoken by the Malays, Mandarin is spoken by the Chineses and Tamil is spoken by the Indians. Being a multicultural country, most people can speak more than one official languages. Malay, Chinese, Indian and Others are the races in Sg.
My fave visitors this month! Glad u like sg. I havent made it to Jamaica but i liked Lithuania. Come back again some time. I spent less than $10 on food today. Come to our heartland hawker centres.
Same thing happened to me when I went to London - the Big Ben was all covered up for renovation and I couldn't see nothin' 🤷🏻 Love the video nonetheless cos both of u give our good vibes 👍🏻
Garden by the bay is just behind mbs. The lighting show is even better than the one at mbs. Timing quite near to the one at mbs but there are two timing for both shows at mbs and garden by the bay. I will just go for the lighting show, walk around the garden. As for those expensive entrance in the garden, can give it a miss.
Come again to Arab Street at night - different vibes. Some Muslims did resist the setting up of bars serving alcohol in that area but in Sg, such resistance is futile - it's all about the money.
Another interesting bit of information for you. When you look at the people around you in Singapore, 1 out of 3 person you meet is a foreigner. Population of 5.9m. Citizens 60% Permanent Resident 10% Foreigner 30% 😊
They very likely closed the Merlion to clean and upkeep it. Being a tropical country, algae happens. ^^ You’ll want a white Merlion and not a green one. Lol

Yes. We merged with Malaysia in 1963. But due to differences of Mr. Lee and the Tunku. Then the tunku asked and forced Singapore to leave.

If you wanna see an impressive merlion, you have to go to Sentosa
The Merlion at Sentosa was sadly demolished in 2020

Nothing happened to the Merlion, just the usual maintenance. Singapore wanna make sure everything is in beautiful and in tip top condition. 😊
Nothing happen to it. It's just their routine checks and repairs. The repair took about 1 month +. So alot of tourist can't see it
Singapore has 4 major civilizations--Muslim, Chinese, Hindu, Western.
