@@garyv83 I am actually working on 2 videos rn. One is a review of mgs1 and the other is a music video...... Unfortunately it's not the Dreamcast but it is the genesis so that's close at least lol. I do love the Dreamcast though. Side note and not that you care lol but I mainly do more review style videos. The music ones kind of hurt the channel becauseof the stupid way TH-cam works. That being said I'm still gonna do them occasionally because they are still game related and who doesn't live music. Thanks for watching

Aw man, I remember getting those thick guide books that would give you every little detail and tip on playing the game. Now you just Google it or surf TH-cam videos until you find the correct info you're looking for.
Had chrono cross original ntsc but I live in the UK so had to do the quick 'swap' sometimes it would load and I wouldn't get the colour. I was always disappointed this never came out in the UK. Final fantasy was one of my all time favorite game series but chrono trigger, cross and legend of dragoon were definitely up in my top 5 rpgs of all time.
Anyone remember demo disks? They were so good at making me excited new upcoming games at the time. I'll always remember Playstation Underground. Feels like a different universe. A far off dream.
I still have a bunch of them. They were the best for determining whether or not the game was worth full purchase. Plus sometimes theyd come with cheats and tricks for other games. I remember pizza hut had a promo order a pizza get a demo disc. It had Metal Gear Solid on it, when I tell you I played that demo for longer than it was suppose to go LOL.
For me, it brings me back when I can't afford gaming but was still able to find ways (work, sidelines etc) to be able to afford a PS1 when the PS2 was already around 😝

I'm sure you could lump it with after launch patches but day 1 patches too. You know the updates that give you 90 percent of the content not on the disk
Also, they didn't require an uninterrupted internet connection in order to be played even if it's completely unnecessary. We also had GOOD single player games all the time, instead of everything being multiplayer just because (which defeats the whole purpose of being a shy person who finds a safe place in videogames). Games were made with love, because no one realized the gold mine videogames industry is.

I played solo, was too broke for internet at the time and $40 once for a game that could give me thousands of hrs of replay value was money better spent vs $40/mo I could ill afford.. he marvels at how difficult my original NES is to play
me too,.. no input lag, no superlight mouse thing, no nvidia reflex, no pages with mathematical graphs with optimal performance..., just sitting down and playing without those variables (well... just the best joystick lol), I really miss the gameplay of the past, it was x100 times more exciting
The end credits if Metal Gear Solid always makes me cry. Not only was the game so powerful and such a defining moment in my childhood. It just brings me back to a time in my life I can't have again.

THPS, MGS, RE, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, Alone in the Dark, Medal of Honor, Parasite Eve, Jet Moto, 2Xtreme, Fifa 98, Gran turismo, Bust a Groove, Parrappa da rappa, Soul Reaver, Crash Bandicoot, Medeival, Spyro, and especially those good ol' free demo discs!!

Absolutely. Gaming had finally hit its stride and settled fully into 3d. Nintendo 64, Playstation and PC were all regurlarly churning out genre defining masterpieces across the board. Quite frankly if you limited yourself to one platform in some pathetic "platform war" you were missing out. You either found a way to own all three or made damn sure you knew someone who owned the ones you didnt. I was lucky enough to own all three and treasure multiple games from each one. The best era of video games ever bar none in my opinion.

Flowers Blooming in the Church simply destroys my heart. How can a PS1 sound be so emotional ? I guess it has to do with the nostalgia and the feelings from the game's story, but it simply sounds so sad and nostalgic ! Of course this OST was used where it was used, it feels as if you've lost all sense of happiness and purpose, as if all inocense and silliness in the world just dissapeared. Nobuo Uematsu was a true genius during the SNES and PS1 era.
I am a huge PS1 fan, it will always be my favorite system. that being said i watch ALOT of music compilation videos on youtube, and i love the fact that you add the game to the little tv screen and switch it up for each game. i know it takes extra editing but its appreciated.
I still have my old PS1 and trust me, 3 or 4 games from back in the day will give you more hours of entertainment than having 30 games on Steam. Good old days when games weren't scams as a service, full of bugs or endless patches because they never intended to give them a complete development.
FF7 - flowers blooming in the church - I remember pausing the game to take a break after a hard session, and for some reason it was always this music. It would loop in the background and I'd just be at home just doing whatever, but still somehow connected to the FF7 world. I think that is part of what induced so much nostalgia.. I wasnt just playing the game, the game was printed into my life then.
Totally agree ! Never had such level of immersion in any other kind of narrative medium ! FF7 felt as if we all lived in this fantastic universe during the several days it took to complete the game (some other classic JRPGs were close, but none at this level).
Listening to this especially the ps1 intro makes me wanna go back to my childhood and just advice my self to enjoy your life as a child because no matter whatyou do you will never ever going to feel the joy your feeling today.

Final fantasy 7 metal gear solid and Resident Evil 2 really brought me back my older brother, who's 8 years older than me got a PlayStation and we shared it in 1996 with Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot me being 4 and him being 12 I played crash while watching him play RE1 then later RE2 in 98 great memories with the system after he moved out in 2000 to live with his dad he left me the ps1 and i blasted that system for almost another 3 years as i got a ps2 Christmas 2002 this is an amazing playlist they sure dont make music like this anymore
Man, each and every one of these games were absolute bangers. I don't think I could compile a list of as many on PS5 that are half as good without dipping into remasters from prior generations.
Definitely nostalgia for me, i had just graduated from high school and was working at Electronics Boutique at the time. (1996-1999) I remember, as a sales person, talking and getting people excited about FF7, Symphony of the Night, Gran Tursimo, Metal Gear, etc. bittersweet memories for me.
ngl i played most of the title here in late 90s to early 2000s. what a nostalgic feel it was. Now games become so ridiculously realistic and complex. While modern title gives you best experience you can get... but you do occasionally miss the vibe of PS1 era. This is really the Square era of rpg.
It was an era when game genres blossomed, offering a variety of fantasies, stories, and cultures to experience. But most of the games we can play today have nothing to offer beyound realistic graphics and non-sense correction.
Wild Arms main theme slaps to this day! The amount of times I reset the PlayStation to relisten to that track over and over again as a kid, I genuinely couldn’t count. Still makes me emotional hearing it even 30 years later ❤

The whole chrono cross album was just so well done. The amount of times I'd leave the overworld song just runnion my old CRT TV whilst i puttered around cleaning my room or reading a book. So good.
Yep, right in the beginning. Any time I hear Dark Souls 1 menu music my eyes just kinda glaze over lol. Some mega nostalgia there... Chrono Cross is good. If you like PS1 and/or turn-based you should have a good time with it. Vagrant Story is the PS1 game I always suggest to the Souls fan though. Can't recommend it enough.

chrono cross, final fantasy 8 and legend of dragoon to this day are some of my favorite games ever. i will always be a 17 year old kid on summer vacation when i think of these games.

ps1 bootup will always be king then dreamcast and than xbox one... that tomb raider music is beyond nostalgia for me the game virtually saved my life.

Final fantasy 7 metal gear solid and Resident Evil 2 really brought me back my older brother, who's 8 years older than me got a PlayStation and we shared it in 1996 with Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot me being 4 and him being 12 I played crash while watching him play RE1 then later RE2 in 98 great memories with the system after he moved out in 2000 to live with his dad he left me the ps1 and i blasted that system for almost another 3 years as i got a ps2 Christmas 2002 this is an amazing playlist they sure dont make music like this anymore

Man, each and every one of these games were absolute bangers. I don't think I could compile a list of as many on PS5 that are half as good without dipping into remasters from prior generations.
games are made now with checkboxes that are ticked off. and the important parts arent anymore creative and story departments but profit maximization.

Definitely nostalgia for me, i had just graduated from high school and was working at Electronics Boutique at the time. (1996-1999) I remember, as a sales person, talking and getting people excited about FF7, Symphony of the Night, Gran Tursimo, Metal Gear, etc. bittersweet memories for me.

ngl i played most of the title here in late 90s to early 2000s. what a nostalgic feel it was. Now games become so ridiculously realistic and complex. While modern title gives you best experience you can get... but you do occasionally miss the vibe of PS1 era.
This is really the Square era of rpg.
It was an era when game genres blossomed, offering a variety of fantasies, stories, and cultures to experience. But most of the games we can play today have nothing to offer beyound realistic graphics and non-sense correction.

The Wild Arms intro is just unbeatable.
Wild Arms main theme slaps to this day! The amount of times I reset the PlayStation to relisten to that track over and over again as a kid, I genuinely couldn’t count. Still makes me emotional hearing it even 30 years later ❤

@@AmateurGameReview i did, it was a lot of fun! The main theme is a banger! There's a whistle version which is great and there's a sung version too that, if i'm remembering correctly, changes the second time it plays later on in the game

The whole chrono cross album was just so well done. The amount of times I'd leave the overworld song just runnion my old CRT TV whilst i puttered around cleaning my room or reading a book. So good.
Also the only JRPG that let you give up part way through the game and live as a shop keeper in termina. Like "apocalypse? Pfft screw that!"

Chrono Cross is good. If you like PS1 and/or turn-based you should have a good time with it. Vagrant Story is the PS1 game I always suggest to the Souls fan though. Can't recommend it enough.

Those MGS hits me so hard it brings up my tears … memories of the game it self … but of an era long gone , friends that are no longer ones … long gone … god these memories makes me so sad the fact that i will never ever be able to get again … maybe one day … when I’m gone … hopefully…. Makes me realize how few of the PS1 hits I played. I guess my personal PS1 experience was more niche.
chrono cross, final fantasy 8 and legend of dragoon to this day are some of my favorite games ever. i will always be a 17 year old kid on summer vacation when i think of these games.
