Good review of these classic traitor marines, it'd be a real treat the see Darren Latham or Duncan Rhodes paint these up to a high degree so we can really see them in all their sinister glory! A shame though, any surviving examples are rare and very expensive.
@@SnakeWorksStudio I wish I did! I only had pocket money to spend in store. Didn’t consider asking my parents for help making mail orders - or if I did they must have said no!
@@SnakeWorksStudio oh i just painted him with gloss black, and a red missle launcher. There really wasnt legions back in those days, just followers of the 4 different chaos gods. I think the box of plastic world eaters was really the first legion of chaos marines gw released in 1992
Heavy plasma gun had two fire modes. The first is sustained, and the second is maximal. Both modes had a one inch area effect. Grenade launchers could fire indirectly. Auto-cannons could also fire indirectly. Good luck at hitting anything when you fired indirectly. It was all good fun.
@SnakeWorksStudio Marines do not use them anymore. Grenade launchers are used by the Imperial Guard and are not heavy anymore. Although Marine scout bikes had them. Intercessor squads can have one bolt rifle with astartes Grenade launcher per five marines.
I miss these old minis. I have two in a Havoc squad for my Emperor's Children. Mine came in a two pack blister with a lascannon and a multimelta. If any of you collectors get some wash your hands well after clean up. They are made of lead.
All the old chaos mini's used to revolve around the mutations from the "slaves to darkness" and " the lost and the damned" mutations random mutation table.
Didn't you get the recent MTO reprint of Rogue Trader? Plasma Cannons are listed as a Very Heavy Weapon that is only vehicle mounted, so they probably did mean Heavy Plasma. They weren't really sticklers for nomenclature back then. I've still got a Chaos Renegade mini from back then. Regular guy, not one of the heavies. Tentacle arm, and "living bolter" for a weapon. I've been meaning to freshen up his paint job. ETA: The difference between a grenade launcher and a missile launcher is that a grenade launcher can fire indirectly, but has a shorter range.
I recall having 2 Chaos Renegades? Or was it 4? I can't now remember how many were in a blister? Anyway, I only ever had 1 blister of Chaos Renegades. With a little jiggering RT, WFB third edition, & WHFB first edition were compatible, or so I've heard, so, you could, in theory, have a Treeman in an RT game.
I chuckled many times. Well done.
I hope the new Emperors Children sneak a bit of this vibe back. So lovely and squiggly
Im hoping for the wraparound shades.

That would be lovely. do you have any of them?
@@SnakeWorksStudio Sadly, no.
I've been trying to track down one of every sculpt for these Chaos Space Marines ranges. I love the character these models exude!
I remember these being on the chaos mail order poster when the 2nd ed codex dropped! They looked cool!!
Did you get any of them?

O22303 was one of my first models, and by far has remained my favorite chaos marine of all time.
what legion did you paint him as?

First! Great content, love these minis!
Do you have any of these guys?
I have some, but not any of the heavy weapons renegades. Yet. Been slowly picking these up for my collection.

Did grenade launchers get renamed or just vanish?

They became special weapons as opposed to heavy weapons

Warming your loo roll on your heater element is also advantageous

As a kid, I used to circle the ones I wanted in white dwarf.

Those old treemen were awesome
Used to have all these guys , mushroom with either a missile launcher or heavy plasma
I do have a jetpack that style still
Plasma mans lack of depth perception would be an issue
maybe he has some bionic implants?
There was a Mr. Hat in SouthPark, not Mr. Hand.
Please don’t Google Mr. Hand
Thats it! we loved that show back in the day
