  • We just received a bunch of these Glock performance triggers literally 5 minutes ago. This is my first impression on the system I hope you guys enjoy the video review. Please comment if you have any questions and if you think of miss something I'd like to hear from you.
    ----
    In this in-depth review, Johnny tests the break and performance of the new Glock performance trigger. We find a consistent break at 3 pounds. We review the differences between this new Glock Performance Trigger and the Timney Alpha Competition Glock Trigger. He takes it apart. Also puts the Johnny Glocks VEX shoe in to see how the performance is. Can find it here: johnnyglocks.com/products/glo...

    I was the first guy ever to bring this guy a Shadow Systems gun for a trigger. At that time, he had never worked with one. I left my gun with him for a couple of days and when I picked up, I was blown away. I still have that gun, and that trigger and anyone who touches it is always amazed by how smooth it is. He also, based upon my preference, incorporated a wonderful rolling break instead of a wall. This guy is the best.

    If Glock really wanted to knock the competition dead, they need to get you guys onboard working hand in hand with their product line manager or whoever and get your custom triggers, strikers and the vex shoes into their base model Glocks, instead of coming up with their Timney-lite one.

    • @Balticblue93
      @Balticblue93 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Facts! Why not call the guy who builds a better product that drops-in and is safe? Or how about calling the guy that knows more about their triggers than they do. They could offer Patrol, combat, competitive and standard trigger options. Better shoes, better trigger pull and take-up, better break and reset. Glock is just too proud to make such of a call. I bet this performance trigger is a flop, nobody even knows the cost yet. I would bet $175-$250 MSRP. And now we all know it is a Timney with some changes and not even close to Timney feeling or reset. So what’s the point of buying this new trigger, when you can change a few parts at home and have a better trigger? Or just buy a JG trigger and have the best of both worlds.
      Glock is falling further and further behind. They better step it up because the competitors are already roasting them OEM out of the box. Plain and simple!!

      @@Balticblue93 Alaskan ballistics put out a video with his new gen-5 G20 and it came with the new trigger and the new match-grade barrel actually a polygon with straight-cut edges on the lands and it's also crowned . I believe his comment on the trigger was he couldn't tell much difference in it which to me is understandable with a new gun chambered in the stout 10mm auto. Glock says they have made 20 design changes and as you may or may not know the barrels, and trigger assembly are not interchangeable with other Glock generations. You also have I think three options in the site's department 2 different night sights and a newly designed OEM plastic sight. I think they're listening to people but they have such a huge worldwide following especially military and police as well I doubt slumping sales are forcing them to do this. Thanks man!

    Happy New year's to you too Johnny and it's great to have you back. Hope this new year is great for all of us. I'm sorry to hear your having issues with TH-cam but I'm sure you'll roll right through that and appease them as needed. I'm stoked glock came out with this new trigger especially when it's got your seal of approval. I picked up one of your Timney conversion kits for my g19 gen4 and have it being installed right now and I can't wait. Love the Timney and if I shot competively I'd have a better use for it but that's not the case so I'm appreciative you had the solution. Just for the record, I got unsubscibed from your channel so I'm glad I hit you up this morning and took care of that. They must be under a lot of pressure and it really sucks their making things hard for you and quite a few others but this is sadly the world we live in and hopefully that will eventually chill sooner than later. BTW...your camera man is the bomb and it was nice meeting the rest of the crew too. In retrospect I don't know how you managed to do all your own filming early on but he's definetely an asset and glad you could incorporate him into the team. Thanks for all that you do and I'll keep you posted with the trigger kit. 🔥👍

    A lot of engineering and research/development involved in making that trigger. Thanks Johnny .

    • @douglasmcnay644
      @douglasmcnay644 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, I think Glock fixed the two primary issues that Timney had with their trigger 1) the drop safety was essentially deleted since the trigger bar and sear were now independent parts (and it doesn't matter that the trigger housing still technically had the drop safety molded into the polymer because the only thing really holding the sear up was the spring inside the Timney housing) 2) the return spring was pretty weak.
      As much as people like to give Glock crap for not innovating and being behind the curve, their engineers really do know what they are doing. They pretty much solved both issues for their own trigger by 1) introducing the hook that goes over the trigger bar (makes all the difference in the world because any exertion of downward force on the sear from say, a drop, will mechanically not allow the sear to drop unless the trigger is actively being pulled, which moves the bar out from under the hook) 2) the return spring is a redesign of the Gen 5 and will have a similarly authoritative reset to the standard Glock trigger rather than the anemic reset the Timney elbow spring produces.
      Overall, this is a very well done iteration on the Timney design. Hopefully they make them for the G43/43x/48 as well so I can stick one in my CR920.

    While it’s definitely possible Glock took a lot from the Timney trigger design, Timney definitely took everything from the Walther P99/PPQ/PDP (and Canik, a Walther clone). They looked at how the P99 trigger assembly works, figured out a way to configure it so it would fit inside a Glock frame, and interface with Glock striker lug.

    Does the overtravel set screw sometimes keep the crusiform from sitting in the drop shelf flush, causing light strikes as the striker drags over it during fire? I did my own pre/over pins with a tyrant trigger and ghost connector. Oem return spring in my 43x and sometimes I get light strikes. I also have the 4.0lb striker spring. Should I go to the 4.5?

    I was given my old duty weapon Glock Model 22 when I retired. I never had any problems with it, but the accuracy was only so so, and I put a Wilson combat stainless barrel in it. I really liked the accuracy that I got with it, and kept the gun stock except for the barrel swap. About a year and a half ago, I started getting light strikes or failures to fire. I replaced all the springs in the pistol and reduced the frequency of the problem occurring, but it still happens about every 50 rounds or so. Any ideas on what I should check to try to fix this and get my Glock reliability back?

    Can you replace the trigger return spring in these like you can the OEM Gen 5 triggers to lighten it even more?

    How do you like this compared to your own performance trigger?
    I already own your full upgrade kit but I'm curious to try this.

    I used the forward take down pin as a slave pin to get the trigger bar back in

    There is a gs performance trigger assembly tool for $8 from the Glock store to help put the performance trigger back together.

    I wonder how this new Glock OEM performance trigger is compared to the Apex complete trigger kit.

    How do I go about getting one of the springs you referenced at 3:08 in the video. Is it going to be on the website? You mentioned sending a self addressed envelope a a couple bucks.... What is the process? I have a Gen 3 G34 with the Timney and your vex trigger shoe upgrade.

    Glock should innovate with a carry comp kit next. Single chamber, indexed on the barrel, side pinned. Set of back straps that allow for indexing a Glock like a 1911 or Cz should be the carry comp. Then a fully modular fire control group.

    Very informative thank you. I get the community rules and why you don't disassemble one onscreen but how does Lenny McGill get away with it ? Doesn't seem fair to me.

    Hi Johnny, I wonder if you started selling the stronger trigger spring? I'm using Timney Alpha with your Vex trigger but sometimes the trigger won't reset itself. I really need a stronger trigger spring. Thanks!

      A few years back I picked up my first ruger 10/22 and decided to bring the gun home and strip it down completely to learn it. That trigger took me forever to get back together but looking back it’s not so bad now

    Whats your thoughts on the performance trigger vs the pyramid 2.0? I recently contacted you about your 3.5 connector so idk if i should go that route or a whole new trigger for my gen 5 19??this will be my edc gun
