Is forscan available for the everyday person to purchase and use? I need to recalibrate the radar module in the front bumper of my 2016 explorer, and I can't really afford the $800+ the dealership wants to charge me to do it.
ForScan is free, but you need the quality $40-80 cable to work well. Every Ford owner especially with newer vehicles should be using these powerful Ford software tools.
It's free, but certain functions will only be available with an extended license, which you have to pay for. The extended license is absolutely worth it, in my opinion.
I've done this on so many ford trucks suvs even a transit connect I've lost count. I like unlocking the Bambi mode ( fog lamps with high beams are on), navigation in motion, and express window feature as well on some models

I rented a car in the south of France (my nose in the air). It was very annoying that the engine AND a/c would quit at a stop sign. I found out that the slightest pressure on the clutch kept the engine running.
ForScan is definitely on my list of things disabling the S/S function and enabling Bambi mode are almost a necessity I was hoping the Ford Performance tune I just installed would remove the speed limiter as well but looks like I’m adding it to the things I want to change with ForScan. You know for driving on a closed course 😉🤫😇

I bought a $3.50 trailer light tester and plugged it into the 4 pin trailer connection. Auto stop/start thinks a trailer is hooked up and disables the S/S feature. Works perfectly without side effects.
You know at this point I don't even care what people do I've explained the consequences of this all but it seems I have to be on repeat .... telling the vehicle a trailer is attached changes certain characteristics of the vehicle that you wouldn't even comprehend
Hell yeah. I just ordered me a dongle last night so I can turn off that damn annoying hyperflash on my turn signals because of the LED lights I've been putting on my truck. Plus I want to use the "Bambi mode" feature for my 2011 F150. Thanks for this video, Rich!
Good morning, I have a 2023 F150 Tremor with the 5.0. Will using your instructions also disable the BMS? As much as I would like to disable the Stop/Start function. I don't want to sacrifice another feature in doing so. I am sure the BMS has it's share downsides as well.
About to do this now. I used forscan after installing an oem 36 gallon tank and new fuel pump unit to tell my combination meter that it has a bigger tank. Now I get about 650 miles before I gotta fill up.
So as per your other video where you talk about the bad battery solution and tell everyone that using other methods disable other features. Have you actually confirmed that every other feature of this this truck is still operational after using ForScan to disable Auto S/S?

I so wish this could be done to my '16 Mercedes E350 4-Matic. Everyone, including the techs at Mercedes Service department tell me that it can't be disabled. I wish Mercedes offered a $90 button to install, or a $500 button for that matter. Pushing the disable button only locks it out until the engine is shut down. Sometimes I forget to push the disable button and when the engine shuts down at a light, I cringe with the thought of the damage I think takes place.
If you want to disable auto start/stop on your F150 (works on 2021-2023 models for sure, don't know about older models or the upcoming 2024 refresh, but I'm pretty sure its the same or similar.) Go into your infotainment system. Bring up Features. Bring up towing. Choose select default trailer. That's it. That's all you have to do. Don't buy any devices. Don't jumper the button. Don't disconnect the BMS from the negative lead on the battery. The truck will think a trailer is connected, but it won't cut off your backup camera, or give you any warning messages or anything like that. Plus you don't run any risk of voiding your warranty, or shorting your circuitry with some cheap Chinese "auto start eliminator," or by plugging in some trailer circuit test kit that isn't designed to be left in as you drive the truck every day leaving it exposed to the elements.
No you have to learn the programming they have an online source which I've replied in multiple comments already for people to go to the online forums and hang out and learn
different year cars with different options will have different numbers in those various blocks. My 2019 "Limited" with lots of bells and whistles had significantly different numbers in "IPC" 720-01-01.... It is MUCH safer to use the BdyCM Module Configuration that does NOT say "AS BUILT", then it gives you a list of body settings in plain English, find the one for AutoStart/Stop and set it to 'Disabled', and poof, done.
When I ordered my 2022 F 150 Platinum, I was able to select Auto Start/Stop DELETE...$50 credit on the price. Also, If I install Forscan, will it have an affect on my warranty (factory and Extended)? Thx for great content & info! Wish you were at a dealership here in N.E. Florida!
@@stevenamos513 i have it, it works well. He is using it the little harder way. If you go in the option that is not as built it will give you a listing of everything and what it is. Can turn on and off all sorts of things and do diag with it.
Nice. Thats cool ive been using hp tuners for stuff like that. I wonder if its possible to do the same with gm vehicles. Word of advice. I would note keep any kind of paper trail for that. You dont want the epa breathing down your neck over it.
I disabled them because the starters are having problems on these 2018-20 vehicles and I believe a lot of it has to do with the auto start stop so with that being said I'm clear
Lol thats the same thing i said. But we where told they have gone after mostly shops not individuals for doing any kind of modifications to alter any emissions controls on vehicles not specifically for off road use. I will still continue to make my changes as long as i am able. We just keep no kinda paper trail for that kinda stuff. Dont want them fining us for disabling start stop,dod(afm), changing converter functions stuff like that. You know the stuff that will make a customers car actually last.
Update. Was just on epa website checking the clean air act. Looks like your good. Its still kinda a gray area. But since fords have a button (option) to turn it off. Its ok. For other manufacturers like gm with no on or off option on the vehicle. Not so much. Anyways keep up the videos always enjoy the content. Just looking out.
Not sure if Forscan was available in 2019 when I bought me new F150 Platinum. Absolutely hated the auto start stop so bought the in-line device to disable the most stupid thing ford has done for sometime. Best $75 I ever spent.
Hi, what is the difference between this method vs selecting the option below (Not the as built format)? What i understand the (Not as built option) is more user friendly or graphic friendly..... On another videos shows there is only one step with the graphic friendly interface on the BCM module to achieve the result, that's why I'm asking if this method is more secure or why is it better?
This method with the computer is permanent you don't have to keep resetting it every time you get in the vehicle and that's what people are complaining about is having to remember to reset it when they were not remembering to reset it when they get in the vehicle so they just wanted permanently disabled and that's what I did here
@@FordBossMe I think the non "as built" option is actually permanent and you don't have to keep hitting the button to turn the feature off. If I'm not mistaken, using the non as-built achieves the same result, but it's easier as well as safer. Correct me if I'm wrong or if you've done both methods.
Will disabling this get rid of the wrench light when resetting the DTC code for the related code for the aux trans pump? 2nd time this pump has gone out now and tired of dealing with it.
This might be a dumb queston... Have a truck that the start/stop transmission pump went out. If I go in and reprogram to disable the start/stop, will I be able to delete the code for the bad pump? Thanks for the great video by the way.
Yeah I agree but that also takes much more time that I don't have to dedicate to that type of segment maybe in the future but I have a full-time job and I have to also take care of a family and that would take a lot of time for me to put together

I had no idea this could be done with Forscan, I wound up buying one of those $80 inline chips, but I got lucky and bought it for $40 off someone who accidentally bought the wrong one for their vehicle. Was this setting recently discovered for the 2020's? Also, forscan is totally free - just get the trial, you need to wait an hour or so to get the key and you can renew the trial when it expires. A little bit of a hassle but not required to buy the lifetime license. If you use it frequently, I'd recommend buying it but if you only use it periodically and can put up with a few hoops to jump through then go w/ the trial of Forscan.
They make it available to the consumer so I figure I should support the company and pay for the lifetime membership because they did something for us I think we should be doing something for them and not just trying to get it for free all the time I think people should pay for it because it is such a fabulous tool and no it's been around people just think that you have to stop at 19 with the programming in 20 works just as good the same way

If I wanted to figure out the codes and values myself, how do I do that? In other words, I would like to see what is possible to change with Forscan. Is there docs on each code and the possible values and what each does?
@@FordBossMe thanks. I did find that eventually. However, I am specifically looking for some setting in forscan to prevent recirc from turning itself off. I know this is a feature from the factory to control humidity in the cabin, but I can turn off recirc on my own. I don’t want to smell exhaust from the car in front. I have found a few posts of people trying various forscan settings and nothing works. I would pay money for a software solution to this problem.
I do not know what the parameters are for the 2021 Bronco and vanity mode is when you turn your lights on all the lights are not from what I understand but I would like to suggest that you go to the forscan forum and sign up and start learning about it

Won’t FORScan do all of what you just did using the “easy” way? As in not plugging numbers editing the As Built Data. Just choosing Disable Auto Start/Stop in the easy one click menu on FORScan?
@@FordBossMe So in order to disable start stop on the late model F-150, you can only do it by altering the As Built Data? I ask because on my 22 Ranger, you just disable in the BdyCM menu & don’t have to do it through that As Built Data option.
You could it's just easier doing it this way you would have to trick the computer into manual entry by not putting the VIN number in and all these other things it's not even worth it it's just not worth it at all it's 50,000 times easier to use IDs

No not really because you're not affecting the system overall and as long as you're open with your technician when you drop it off say hey I have Auto start-stop programmed out of it I just want to let you know that's the only thing I have programmed out of it they're not going to have an issue with you
Ultimately without doing any type of modification or programming you are correct or just leave the Heat or the AC on max but this is the easiest way overall you cannot cut this out from underneath anything this is by far the easiest the most cost-effective critical way most efficient way of doing it
Do you need to reconfigure anything after your write everything? Or do you just write all 3 then you are done? I did it and I'm having a unknown code related to bcm to pcm. But I also recalibrate speedometer. Not sure what to do about the code. The light is not on but if I run a scan it shows the code.
yeah, on my 2019, several of the existing codes were DIFFERENT and the values in this video BROKE THINGS. put everything back in reverse order, IPC then FICM, then BdyCM (I hope you wrote the original ones down). then power cycle the truck, reconnect with forscan, then go into BdyCM (*NOT* 'AS BUILT'), hit the play button, find "BdyCM Auto Start/Stop" and set it DISABLED, write, 'stop' and exit, power cycle car.
I don't know that I'm sure they have some kind of aftermarket dongle like they do for the GM AFM shut off but that vehicle's too new for me to know any of that stuff just jump on the forscan Forum like I've been replying to people and start researching
Hi I had a question about my lane departure that's connected to the steering wheel which gave resistance when it sensed the vehicle drifting out of the lane. I have a 2018 F150 Lariat and have noticed that the steering wheel doesn't give that strong resistance to prevent the lane departure even if it's set to the highest warning. I consulted my local dealership and the couldn't offer any solution. I figure that it's something in the steering wheel that is loose that makes the steering wheel tight on drifts and vibrate once crossing the lane without turning on blinkers. I'm trying to find something online that I could take to my local dealership to explain and provide a fix, can anyone help? Last time I'll let anyone drive my truck
I'm not quite sure I understand what's going on but what I can tell you is the steering wheel is supposed to turn you back into your lane if the turn signal is not turned on that's a normal function and if you try to push back through it it will create some resistance
Yes that what I'm talking about, it use to do that,now I get very little resistance and I'm trying to figure out what can be done to get the settings back to normal where it will give that resistance and vibration again.....my dealer didn't know
@@anthonytyler4338 Sounds like you need to call Ford Corporate and open up a case ticket with a regional service rep from the factory, they will probably know the answer to this question. Set up an appointment with the rep at the dealership of your choice and meet them there.
I HATE the start stop crap, it is the reason why I bought a 2017 F-150. That and the fact I did not want to be a guinea pig for the NEW and wonderful 10 speed and the gee we are doing away with steel liners in the 5.0 liter. Thanks but NO thanks. We all saw how that went.

So you have to kind of decipher between what I was talking about then and what I'm talking about in this video back then I was telling people not to be tampering with what's already there I didn't say anything about changing the programming to make it think nothing was ever built that way and that was the purpose of this video I was pretty clear about that if you can go in and change the way the vehicle thinks it was built and turn off the auto start stop that's the ultimate way to actually do it the correct way not buying tools to trick it and unplugging connectors and things of this nature

Finally did this tonight and it is awesome. It doesn't even show up in the menus on the dash.
Foreskin software makes for an interesting but awkward vehicle interface.

You're not installing for scan on the computer you are installing it on your laptop so you can use it on any Ford vehicle over and over again

They did but every time you key cycle it comes back and then you have to turn it off again

They make it available to the consumer so I figure I should support the company and pay for the lifetime membership because they did something for us I think we should be doing something for them and not just trying to get it for free all the time I think people should pay for it because it is such a fabulous tool and no it's been around people just think that you have to stop at 19 with the programming in 20 works just as good the same way

PS: I think there was actually a period of time where US folks couldn't pay for it and only could use the trial. I believe the devs of ForScan are in Russia and sending money to russia had some issues - but I think they've found a legit way to handle that now.

@@FordBossMe thanks. I did find that eventually. However, I am specifically looking for some setting in forscan to prevent recirc from turning itself off. I know this is a feature from the factory to control humidity in the cabin, but I can turn off recirc on my own. I don’t want to smell exhaust from the car in front. I have found a few posts of people trying various forscan settings and nothing works. I would pay money for a software solution to this problem.
What is Bambi mode? And can you show which parameters to change for a 2021 bronco sport to disable the start stop please?
I do not know what the parameters are for the 2021 Bronco and vanity mode is when you turn your lights on all the lights are not from what I understand but I would like to suggest that you go to the forscan forum and sign up and start learning about it

Won’t FORScan do all of what you just did using the “easy” way? As in not plugging numbers editing the As Built Data. Just choosing Disable Auto Start/Stop in the easy one click menu on FORScan?

@@FordBossMe So in order to disable start stop on the late model F-150, you can only do it by altering the As Built Data? I ask because on my 22 Ranger, you just disable in the BdyCM menu & don’t have to do it through that As Built Data option.

You can use it on Ford and Mazda vehicles it's not married to your truck

You could it's just easier doing it this way you would have to trick the computer into manual entry by not putting the VIN number in and all these other things it's not even worth it it's just not worth it at all it's 50,000 times easier to use IDs

It's more annoying to some people than anything but I have had more auto start/stop starters fail than regular starters

It will and if it doesn't you can always switch it back but I'm pretty sure it will make sure you keep track of what you're changing

No not really because you're not affecting the system overall and as long as you're open with your technician when you drop it off say hey I have Auto start-stop programmed out of it I just want to let you know that's the only thing I have programmed out of it they're not going to have an issue with you
I've found the easiest thing for me to do is simply ease off brake pedal just a smig when I stop. Auto stop cuts off until next stop, do same.
Ultimately without doing any type of modification or programming you are correct or just leave the Heat or the AC on max but this is the easiest way overall you cannot cut this out from underneath anything this is by far the easiest the most cost-effective critical way most efficient way of doing it

Do you need to reconfigure anything after your write everything? Or do you just write all 3 then you are done? I did it and I'm having a unknown code related to bcm to pcm. But I also recalibrate speedometer. Not sure what to do about the code. The light is not on but if I run a scan it shows the code.

yeah, on my 2019, several of the existing codes were DIFFERENT and the values in this video BROKE THINGS. put everything back in reverse order, IPC then FICM, then BdyCM (I hope you wrote the original ones down). then power cycle the truck, reconnect with forscan, then go into BdyCM (*NOT* 'AS BUILT'), hit the play button, find "BdyCM Auto Start/Stop" and set it DISABLED, write, 'stop' and exit, power cycle car.

Hi I had a question about my lane departure that's connected to the steering wheel which gave resistance when it sensed the vehicle drifting out of the lane.
I have a 2018 F150 Lariat and have noticed that the steering wheel doesn't give that strong resistance to prevent the lane departure even if it's set to the highest warning. I consulted my local dealership and the couldn't offer any solution. I figure that it's something in the steering wheel that is loose that makes the steering wheel tight on drifts and vibrate once crossing the lane without turning on blinkers. I'm trying to find something online that I could take to my local dealership to explain and provide a fix, can anyone help?

I'm not quite sure I understand what's going on but what I can tell you is the steering wheel is supposed to turn you back into your lane if the turn signal is not turned on that's a normal function and if you try to push back through it it will create some resistance
Yes that what I'm talking about, it use to do that,now I get very little resistance and I'm trying to figure out what can be done to get the settings back to normal where it will give that resistance and vibration again.....my dealer didn't know

I HATE the start stop crap, it is the reason why I bought a 2017 F-150. That and the fact I did not want to be a guinea pig for the NEW and wonderful 10 speed and the gee we are doing away with steel liners in the 5.0 liter. Thanks but NO thanks. We all saw how that went.

So you have to kind of decipher between what I was talking about then and what I'm talking about in this video back then I was telling people not to be tampering with what's already there I didn't say anything about changing the programming to make it think nothing was ever built that way and that was the purpose of this video I was pretty clear about that if you can go in and change the way the vehicle thinks it was built and turn off the auto start stop that's the ultimate way to actually do it the correct way not buying tools to trick it and unplugging connectors and things of this nature
