  • My 5.3L 2012 GMC Sierra before and after getting it custom tuned by Lew (www.diablewtune.com/). It's a DiabloSport Trinity T1000 tuner. Kicks nice and hard during shifts now. Hit 120 MPH before having to let off. She could have kept going too. Video was taken from the back seat behind the driver

    It’s an 8 second 0-60 both times. Shity tune, and shift plugs and coil packs my 08 does a 7 stock, only difference i saw was a hard trans shift lol

      It was 9.4 seconds the first time and 8.4 the second time. I find 7 seconds hard to believe unless it’s a 2wd regular cab on donuts. How are you timing that?

    This is a very old video but I broke it down gram by frame and you did a 9.4 second 0-60 the first time and the second time it was an 8.4. Exactly 1 second faster for anyone wondering. I seen one guy that said 8 seconds both runs. Maybe he was counting on his head lol

      @@Bill-bi7sk to be fair though it was basically stock at this point, 3.42 rear gear, 4wd, and probably 800-1000# worth of a handicap mobility setup. Not that fast compared to new trucks but not that slow either

    A lot better, just make sure whenever you do a burnout you leave it in first, the 1st to 2nd gear hunting will burn the transmission up quick

      Yeah nearly shit myself whan I launched it very hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear. Even when drivling off slowly so I dont know might have to go in and chane the 1st to second shiftpoint.

      For one the centre lines don’t increase in passing.
      Second if doing near 200. The world goes by a hell of a lot faster than that. 🤬

      If you do the math... from 1:00 to 1:05 he passes approximately 14 dashes in the roadway. Each dash and space in between equals 40 ft. (this is a federal standard for all roadways.) Speed = Distance/Time (S=D/T). Distance is 40ft x 14 = 560 and the Time is 5 seconds. S=560/5 which is 112. At 1:05 his speedometer says ~114. Also I do agree it looks slow on camera.

    Jeez my 07 with the 4l60 and no mods other than a muffler change accelerates quicker than that. Although factory cutoff for mine is 95mph it gets there much quicker

    I have a 2011 gmc sierra with the 5.3 and 6 speed. I also got a tune from lew and I am not at all impressed. I put the can tune on the truck and now it shifts way to hard and jerk me in the seat when I get on it. I thought a custom tune would fix it but nope same problems. looks like I'm gonna have to bring it in to the dealership for service. fml

      +dafuser92 Did you reload your stock tune in it? I made sure to download mine onto my computer before having it customized. There's also settings to manually put your shift pressure back to stock. It's pretty easy to do. I have mine set to where it shifts hard when getting on it (better torque band) but nothing crazy. Don't bring it to a dealership if it's still under warranty unless you absolutely need to. The tune may void it. I hate to say it but I'm not really impressed either. He's very helpful and fast but not for $650. I've only tried Diablo so far so idk if's just a shitty tuner or not.

      +mncarguy yea man thanks but idk where else to go. but he said that if I revert it back to stock that there should be no way to tell. so either way I don't have the skills or know how to fix it myself.

      reset the adaptive shift. bring it to the dealer and tell them to try it because once that is changed by a tune, it cannot be reverted unless you reset it.

      ABS is such a stupid idea and design. They talk about how "it may save your life one day". The shit may get you killed one day. It almost made my slide into another vehicle that I was letting pass me on a narrow street in the snow.

      Bro you must not have ever driven a vehicle and slammed on the brakes with no abs. You will slide a lot longer than you would with abs. A lot of people that say abs is garbage is just repeating what they have heard. Abs stops you ALOT earlier. It’s been tested for years now😂

    Wanting to get a tuner to disable my factory governor for my 07 Chevy Silverado but not liking what to see from this as you seemed to hit that 120 and quickly pull off.
    I want to be able to cruise at the full 120 not feel like it's going to explode from redlining once I get there.
    Please give all insight before I make this purchase.

      I only let off because I was running out of open road. I'd set the cruise as 130 mph with no fear of blowing the motor if I had space. It's definitely worth taking the governor off.

      my car guy thanks for the follow-up and I look forward to that vid to give me the confirmation in this device because I just don't think I should be driving/cruising with my ram over 5K.
      What are your thoughts on thr Bulky Dog tuner compared to this as I have come across more vids with that over this?
      Lastly, in those vids they made mention of going a K&N intake upgrade before making this change?

      The Bully Dog tuner is definitely the more popular tuner of the two. You can easily set the rev limiter to whatever you want with the tuner. Installing a K&N intake is something you can do before or after you tune it. It's an easy setting to change in the tune. You just simply go in and select whether you have one installed or not. It's all very straight forward if you spend a little time digging through the menus. Hope this helps.

    Don’t really see a difference between the two. Only thing I can tell is high rpm shifts and harder shift from 1-3 but not really any acceleration differences

    Truck still seems to pull a little slow after this "custom" tune. Your shift points appear near identical as well. A good custom tune should have your truck pulling much harder and the tach. sweeping much faster.
    Check out some of the Black Bear Performance tuned videos and you will see what I mean.

      Stock 1st to 2nd: 5500
      Diablew 1st to 2nd: just under 6000.
      So it did definitely change them.

    Shift points seem overly harsh. He probably just killed ALL of the torque management. This reinforces that Black Bear/Justin still offers the best GM truck tunes.

So no its not a "chip" it's a performancr tune. Chips were used pre obd2. And were infact useless. Had one in a 350 tbi and it didnt do anything but drink gas afterwards

    I'm not impressed if you push the tow button in it shifts at a higher rpm I use tow mode in the mountains and it shifts and works perfect

      I've had people say stuff to me the way I drive my 5.3 i tell them it's a chevy it can handle it. Almost 200,000 and done nothing to it but performance and lots of gas and change oil. Oh and lots of tires

      That's because handheld tuners are a joke with gas vehicles. The only significant gain you'll see is on a diesel.
