Thank you. Knowing about the micro switches didn't fix my problem. But it did give me something to look for and check before opening the camera up. It looks like the switches work by getting 2 pieces of metal to touch near a flexible printed circuit ribbon.

Got it home, charged the battery and attempted to power on but it was completely dead. Found your video and sure enough, mine has the same problem! Pressed in the little switch and bada bing! it powers on! Thank you! I'm gonna see how much they want for the little door and how hard it is to replace ...

Today, my T2i didn't power up - which is a problem that's happened before. The previous tricks didn't work, so I turned to TH-cam. The switch for the memory card door turned out to be the problem. I used a paperclip, bent it open, and used the end to flick the switch a few times. My camera then powered on. I suspect some dust got in there and prevented the switch from operating correctly.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that it still doesn't work. Silver lining may be that now you can rule out the switch problem and concentrate on what else could possibly be the problem. Obviously, the camera worked at one time and then something changed/happened. Try to retrace what happened or when it stopped working and investigate there. If it is some sort of manufacturing defect with the electronics then ultimately it may be out of your control, but check everything that you can. Hope this helps.
