Is Red Wine Good for You?

Is red wine good for you and is red wine fattening? Yes and No.
    1) Resveratrol
The skin of grapes are packed with the antioxidant resveratrol which benefits:
    ⁃ Eyesight
    ⁃ Fights cancer
    ⁃ Heart and brain protection
    ⁃ Anti-aging
⁃ Lowers cholesterol and blood pressure
    2) Fattening
Red wine is not fattening if consumed in small amounts due to unique antioxidants and phytonutrients that help burn body fat.
    3) Alcohol
A small amount of alcohol stimulates liver detox by breaking down bile
⁃ Suggested amount: 1/2 glass or less
Over consuming (more than one glass in a sitting or a few glasses a week) becomes toxic to the liver which will negate the health benefits and cause long-term health issues such as:
    ⁃ Slows down liver detox
    ⁃ Increases toxicity
    ⁃ Increases fat storage
    ⁃ Potential heart issues

Red wine gives people migraines easily, on top of that people feel sluggish even after one glass of red(in small amounts) the next day, just look at this video th-cam.com/video/qXywStESdi8/w-d-xo.html The heart benefits of red wine for young people(20s-30s) are marginal, Not big. Some people think alcohol is a sleep aid, it helps you to sleep(temporarily) th-cam.com/video/PNq-JcVlYD4/w-d-xo.html but then when the effect wears off, you become restless. It affects your body's natural sleeping pattern,.it steals a precious chemical in your body called 'the human growth hormone'.

You can use it to build your immune system when you are sick, or a tbl spoon to a glass of water for refreshing drink.

Some good info on resveratrol. And the little bit of research I've done on alcohol does indicate some health benefits when consumed a) in moderation and b) by someone not experiencing severe liver distress. However, I think Dr. A missed some important points, such as...
    1. Conventional vs Organic vs Biodynamic (I recommend the latter, for the fact that they're the only ones who use native yeasts, which were the only yeast strains used in wine making until the industrial revolution).
    2. Sulfites (Could have talked about natural sulfites in many red wines vs added sulfites, and the implications on health).
    3. General recommendations on consumption (I'm 210 lbs. The amount of red wine I can safely drink is different than that of my 100 lbs friends. And then there's the issue of the condition of an individual's digestive system and liver.)
...And as an option, you could thrown in some bible passages on the topic of alcohol & wine, such as wine being a gift from God (Psalm 104), warnings against over consumption & drunkenness (ex. Eph. 5:18, Gal. 5:21), and the apparent gastrointestinal benefits of drinking wine (Paul's advice to Timothy in 1 Tim. 5).
    bestnaturalfoods.com/newsletter/organic_wine.html
And check out Frey's line of Biodynamic red wines. They're the most affordable I've come across.

+Laurie McLean Red grapes are a great source of healthy resveratrol, but conventional grape juice is loaded with sugar. I recommend juicing your own grapes or making my delicious kale shake: draxe.com/recipe/kale-shake/

yes resveratrol in high concentration has could have health benefits, but if you drank as much wine as you would need to reach those concentrations you would have liver damage before you see any results from resveratrol. sorry

One healthy glass will do you if your tolerance is low because you don't over-drink. It's nice to stay minimal and be a cheap drunk 😊 two glasses is an indulgence. Three glasses, is too much but... things in moderation (even moderation😜)

vinegar almost produces like wine and it's not contain alcohol , then why are we not consuming vinegar instead of wine ?

    • @on1manshow
      @on1manshow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Samet Yilmaz we do consume vinegar....in fact, apple cider vinegar is very good for you and some people take it daily, good for digestion. But you can't compare the two, wine simply tastes better. Plus, cultural and historical significance makes it even more special.

Are you referring to 8 oz or 16 oz glasses? If it's the former, you're referring to 1/2 a cup & if it's the later you are referring to 1 cup of red wine / day.

Lol great question. Tap water is extremely toxic with all the chemicals and crap that is in it.
As for wine, more than the alcohol it's the chemical sprays and added sulfites I'd be wary of ...
      Choose organic wines...
