Loved the video, I am from Australia and am just getting into learning about wine and have always needed more information. You have helped me on my path. Thank you so much. Scott
I just started getting into wines after swearing I'd never drink wine cuz my mom let me try a Chardonnay once and I thought I was gonna die. I actively avoid whites right now because I don't know enough about em. My first bottle was a Merlot blackberry 50/50 blend grown right in my home state of Louisiana. I bought a couple of bottles of that, and now I have a full merlot and a Pinot noir waiting for a tasting.
Red wine. Am a complete wine newbie but I want to learn. Now being a retired senior, I want to acquire new knowledge as well as share my skills in my areas of expertise.
I'm late to seeing this video. Imma salesman in a spirits store. I studied under a sommelier phase 2 for a year. I've been away from the wine aspect of sales. I'm getting drawn back into the studies of wine due to being placed in a location that has an extraordinary wine selection from vantage Nickle & Nickle, Silver Oaks, Stag's Leap including 2009, 2012 Cask 23, vantage Chateau Lafite Rothschild bottles (2009). Your videos are very easy to follow.
My favorite red is a blend of Cab Sav, Cab Franc, Merlot and a trace of Malbec. Great drinking but hard to get here in NZ. I find Pinot Noir, NZs most popular red, too soft for me, lacking body. A great video, thanks
good video... Thank you for all the info.. I've been drinking reds for a while but just discovered a novelty for me while I was in Bologna, Italy and it is the Lambrusco... Loved it..
I followed the advice by some and went with pinot as a start but didn't like the red fruit / cherries taste. I however like black fruits taste and smell. Guess I will stick with CS/Merlot to start my wine drinking journey
Red wine! I prefer a great Cabernet Sauvingnon....not too sweet, not a cheap one, but a good decent priced one (costing $20 or so) any suggestions? Thanks
Looking to take up wine drinking after a day's work and I'm looking for a wine which is sweet and not acidic. Any suggestions? Does such wine even exists? Please guide me up. Thank you.
For a lower acid red, try Merlot. However, reds are seldom made in a sweeter style - you could try an Australian sparkling Shiraz or Brown Brothers Cienna. For lower acid whites, try Viognier or Gewurztraminer, or a warm climate Pinot Gris. As a general rule, if the alcohol is naturally lower (≥12%), it's likely the fermentation was stopped early retaining some sugar in the wine. So lower alcohol often means sweeter wines.
So have I. Would be interesting to know. Currently having one. I really enjoy it. I'm completely blind when it comes to wine so I'm starting to experiment with breathing it first but honestly got no idea
When you say “transition from white to red wine” does that mean you yourself only drink red wine? Or do you mean that you are trying to help white wine drinkers expand their palette?
Not an expert or a beginner. I like a variety of wines, regardless of color. My favorites are German rieslings, California Cabernets, and French Syrahs. I also like Petite Syrah.

Barbera is a pretty good, easy drinking one too :). Maybe Primitivo/Zinfandel too, they tend to be full body though.

Awww boo, I was about to buy one of your wee fridge magnets but I’m in Ireland and it only let me select the states :(
I followed the advice by some and went with pinot as a start but didn't like the red fruit / cherries taste. I however like black fruits taste and smell. Guess I will stick with CS/Merlot to start my wine drinking journey
I really like the magnet, as a beginner I struggle with serving temps. Yes I can google, but it would be nice if serving temps were included.
Can I cook with Pino?
I am surprised gamay was not included in the list.
Do you stay clear of a wine that doesn't include a cork?
I don't like the taste of oak, can you make me some suggestions of some good cabernet sauvignon?
Reply
I love a Nebiola ( Barola Barberesco ) But then I like a nice Beef or Venison steak.
Red wine - pinot Noir for me always!!!!😂😂
Red wine!
I prefer a great Cabernet Sauvingnon....not too sweet, not a cheap one, but a good decent priced one (costing $20 or so) any suggestions? Thanks
Just try bergundy and merlot. Both are good.

What about Gamay? I thought that was lighter than Pinot Noir...

Shiraz is also known as Syrah.
If it won’t unscrew…
It won’t do.

Is it true that red wines aggravate the existing daibetese in diabetic patients?
Red wine 😌
Zinfandel? Not the rose type, but deep red color.
