Taylor. Thanks for reviewing this great game. It’s classic for a reason and I’ve had many many super gaming moments playing the 2in1 version. Your criticism is fair but may only be annoying to experienced players where scoring is super important. My biggest gripe is the no-trump option because the subsequent game is very boring. I love a game of 5 players where the x2 card must be given to the smaller team…that’s a tough decision. And the occasional negative points game, when some players are focused on other parts of the game and they forget to cover the -2, and can be fun with the objective is to lose tricks. Overall I do like this game a great deal and will still bring it to the table (warts and all) to play and enjoy.
Hey Topaz, cheers for your wonderful comment!! I think this is so wonderful to read because it's a clear reason why there is so much fun to be had with this game! Love this and pinning it now! Cheeers!!
Absolutely stellar at 3 players! The 2v1 tension and scoring is phenomenal. My only problem with other player counts is the runaway leader/kingmaker issue.
Great video! The whole voting board looks totally neat in this one! I hear you though where it could be improved. I look forward to hearing some of the other games this month that have to do with choices!
Nice review. Looks like it has some fun ideas. Have really enjoyed your videos - got Boast or Nothing because of you and we absolutely love it. Just ordered Nokosu Dice and Roulette-Taking game so excited to play those in a few weeks :)
The monthly themes are back? 🎉 Loved Noivces choice (curious if you'll cover Fisherman or Angels and Devils on it) and hopping for a trick avoidance month someday (Hurtcember?)
Cheeers, Rulico!!! Thanks for another amazing comment! It's so nice to see them! And, I definitely will try to cover those soon! As for Hurtember, I am definitely writing that down, but I'll be at Tokyo Game Market then, so I'm hoping to do a bit of a vlog approach that month, but I love this theme name and will definitely do it in the future! Cheers!!!!
Oef I almost put Nyet on my wishlist. Thanks for this review! Just as a thought experiment, since you mentioned scoring points outside of your partnership: what if the person winning the trick would have scored the points for the 1's instead of the team. or maybe the one winning the trick gets to score the 1's they won twice and their teammate only once. And even when listening to te review I thought: -2 will almost never get picked, since everything else is geared towards optimising the voting to have a good hand. I would be tempted to pick a red marker and draw a little minus sign in front of the 1 on the board xD
Never played Nyet, so I might be way off here. But maybe it would be an idea to block off the previous round's choices for each row with neutral tokens, so they have to change from round to round? Or would that limit player agency too much?
How would you feel about a house rule for 5p where one could divide the teams up 2v2v1? Obviously with the solo player getting the 2x card. Might help with the runaway leader and make for some more exciting rounds.
Excellent video! I've seen this game for sale a few times, and although always thought it looked interesting, I never went so far as to reach for my wallet. Having just watched this, and I think I still feel the same about it, it does look like a good game, and I really like the voting aspect of it, but I don't know if I'd actually buy it or not. In any case, new copies are damned expensive now, a copy on Ebay this evening going for £60 - not a million miles off $75. You went into some cons of the game, one being some of the options on the board used for voting. So, have you ever cobbled together a board more to your liking and tried it out? If so, did it change the game very much? I must say you have a really great channel here mate, I always seem to break into a smile when I receive a notification that you've uploaded a new video - keep 'em coming!
Heyyyy thanks again for such a kind comment, WK!! It's always such a pleasure to read yours and hear your take! And yeah that is such a high price! I've heard of designers in my circles trying to make a better one, so here's hoping! I've yet to try to make a new board, but some I've seen them make look fun! I'm excited to try! And thanks soooo much for the kind words!! It truly means the world, cheeers!

I've the same issue with game end in 4p but never tried 3p before. I'll wait for a game night with this player count to try it :)
Agreed! 3p Nyet is my fav way to play 🤩
Totally agree, afrank! Love to hear that others find the 3 player the best too!
I've finally played it with 3 players and liked way better than 4p. Thanks for the comments 😄

Thanks so much, Eddie! I'm excited to continue this month soon!

Where did you find the Roulette-Taking game?
@@shockwavemasta it was a stroke of luck. Someone was selling their used copy online and I saw it at the right time.
Oh wonderful to hear, Kevin!! I hope you love them and are having wonderful trick-taking times!!! 😁🙌🙌

Oh yeah i can see that being a good solution! I think a playtest or two of that idea sounds fun!

Ohhhh i do really like that idea!!! Cool way to get variety out of the game! Awesome idea, Tobias!!

Ohhh I love that idea, Randall! That'd be so fun to try!
