Charles getting an 8 with dnf is beyond logic at this point
The dnf wasn’t his fault
@@eliezergutierrez2472 yeah but checo getting less ratings than Leclerc after all that entertainment and racing doesn't make sense either.
Yeah you can only rate him on Qualy and the Sprint. 8 seems fair
@eliezergutierrez2472 but he didn't race, regardless. How do you rate a race, if it never happened?
If I follow your logic, it means that if verstappen dnf without being responsible, I could say that sargent did a better job than verstappen on a weekend?
Logie “how much do you lean towards a sprint” 6/10
Charles “his sprint was brilliant” 8/10
Dude
Well the difference is that they can't rate Charles based on the main race, so they rate him based on what he actually managed to show.
The bias here is so blatant it's just sad at this point.
Qatar: Sainz started sprint in 5th, finished 6th, DNS GP. Charles started sprint in 6th, finished 12th, started GP in 5th finished 5th
Brazil: Charles started sprint in 7th, finished 5th, DNS GP. Sainz, started sprint in 9th, finished 8th, started GP in 7th, finished 6th
And they gave Charles a higher grade than Carlos in BOTH weekends...
remember, hes not a fanboy, hes just passionate
And for Lewis too..or is that because of TommyH sponsors P1 !!!
They always go against Sainz, specially Matt.
This weekend Sainz was just a lot slower so you'd probably give Charles a 9 if he actually raced but because he didn't start and we don't know it's an 8
Especially as Sainz was battling a dodgy clutch in the GP that meant he was struggling to downshift.
Giving Checo a 7 and Charles an 8 is criminal
8 out of 10 for Charles!!!??? That is way too generous.
He performed well in the sprint shootout and the sprint race. Qulaified p2 as well. If it wasn't for the failed hydraulics he would've had a better race. So i think a light 8 is fair.
I agree with you. So biased opinion. If someone didnt done a single lap 6\10 the highest score you can get. Like Albon? Why he 6 and LEc is 8? Why Gasly did a very good drive 8 and Lec is 8 without a single lap in the RACE.
Compared to Checo, 7??
I would have swapped those notes
@@hamzaqureshi7099he did not score any points in the race. How is it fair?
And checo got a 7?! The dick riding is crazy
Yeah theres no way you can rate a driver who didnt even finish the race higher than someone who came up the order(to which it wasnt even his fault that he was down). Everything else makes sense but that, and its not like leclerc was super quick, his team made a great call.
Leclerc DNF.. actually DNS ! and rated 8? vs Perez bad luck Q3 starting GridP9 drive up to almost P3 gets 7? I like Charles a lot, but this is not credible to me
@@SuperPassionflower The only place that is acceptable for Perez in that rocketship of a car is P2.
@@Ale-nv2bo why can't you understand the pace difference is not the same anymore? The other cars are not much slower. Lando was 7 seconds off of Max and the astons were really fast. Even with a flawed strategy he missed p3 by 0.053 and starting p9(which was not his fault).
@@SuperPassionflower exactly, not to hate on charles or anything but this is what we see with the Aramco ratings as well. Kind of disrespectful
@@Ale-nv2bo this is no doubt everybody's goal, including his own. the man fell into a deep crisis, an abyss and it takes time to climb out of that. it's not like a lightswitch on or off overnight to overcome it, he's not a robot, it's a process.
Fernando 's defensive drive against Perez was reminiscent of his drive vs Michael Schumacher in Imola back in 2005.
In Imola it's easier to defend and there was no Drs , so it was actually more difficult this time. Except the other time it was Schumacher not perez
Wow. Equating Perez with Shummy, he should like that.
@@yachthvac469yeah lmao. Like Schumi would have definitely held Alonso off in Brazil
it reminded me of petrov in 2010 abu dhabi

Danny and Oscar went straight to the pits and didn't do lap 2 behind the SC... that's why they were a lap down. Red flags should allow for cars to unlap themselves though.
I always assumed after a red flags, all cars get to unlap themselves before the restart.
@@NexuJin Thats normally the procedure yes.
@@NexuJin The only thing here is that when the red flag was shown, their cars were inside the garages to abandon and not on track... if that had any influence on them not being allowed to unlap or not I have no idea. Bring on the rules book.
@@soundscape26 Camera director weren't showing that. They were too busy with replays.
@@NexuJinThey definitely did, they even played the radio telling Oscar to retire the car and then subsequently telling Oscar they would be able to work on it due to the red flag.
Nobody noticed just how well Pierre and Yuki did because Fernando stole the show
Yuki didn’t do well. Danny would have beaten him without the crash.
@@todd.sherley Danny this, Danny that, how about you stop focusing on 1 driver and just enjoy the sport
Yuki had an issue

Just a 7 for Perez, and an 7's for the Mercedes drivers and an 8 for Leclerc? Guys. Can't be serious.
they really hate him, no surprise there
@@brizenhodude was in the second fastest car.. Was slower than Lando and finished behind Fernando...yea clearly 10/10 performance 😂
@@lemarkexyz2931 Considering the slump he was for the last 2 months, no, 7 is way too low for a recovery drive from a bad Q3, and a return-to-form to a historically decent driver.
@@lemarkexyz2931 10/10? Check yourself
How does Charles, having no podium on the Sprint and Dnfing on GP, gets an 8 but Checo a 7?
Completely outrageous, honestly
Checo is in a red bull and couldn’t get a podium, there is your answer
Carlos > Charles. Ferrari need to start prioritizing sainz.
Because Charles drove well in qualifying and sprint. Checo was mid and couldn't beat an inferior aston martin.
Checo still got p3 on sprint and p4 on the race Charles didn’t even started 😭 is it checos fault that piastri got out in qualifying it looked like checo was gonna get higher position in qualifying
I think Checo Perez deserves at least 8 of 10, starting from P9 and finishing in P4. What a race match against Alonso!!!
Take the car into account that is like if Lando started 17th and finished 12th stuck behind an Alpine half the race
@@BeneathTHeaveans 🤡 Fernando isn't random road block, he is the goat. Checo was up against an insane defense from Fernando.
Against a car 1 sec slower a lap. Great show because the driver is mediocre
@@BeneathTHeaveans still, there is no f*cking way that charles got a higher rating without the race.... too much fanboy-ism (And i say it as an alonso fan)
@@ArielGonzalez1 Charles doesn't deserve a bad rating, nor does he deserve a good one. They should really just not give him a grade.
Leclerc doesn’t race: 8
Checo brings it to GOAT Alonso and misses a podium by inches: 7
Makes sense.
Honestly, a 6 for Danny when he had incredible pace is insane to me. I don't think you can dock points for his finishing position given the circumstances - he was hit by a flying tyre and technically had a DNF until the red flag gave the team the chance to repair his car - it's just a shame it resulted in him being a lap down. He even passed and kept Piastri behind for the entire duration of the race. It feels like he's been given a 6 as if the flying tyre was his fault.
So very true. Getting hit by and tire and sit doing so well with a car that probably wasn't completely fixed.
Exactly! Considering Yuki was battling issues with his car I think Danny would have finished ahead of Yuki if he wasn't a lap down. Qualified almost exactly the same as Yuki in both races. 6 is a scam
Well, the pace also depends on the cars in front of you. He was driving in free air the whole race, which means that he could manage his tyres as he wishes, and didn't have to battle anyone. The car was not dreadful by any means, and in a way, it's his fault for finishing so far back in qualli that got him in that first lap incident in the first place. I think that the 6 is justified - just above average, but nothing more.
@@GriffinCodeshe came out of the pits dead level with Yuki on his last stop, team orders were to let him past, so he cruised around pushing Yuki to the finish. Idk what issues Yuki had, but I know Danny had a rear wing broken off, came from the back, passed everyone between him and Yuki, then was told to stay behind Yuki (understandably). Definitely worth more than a 6, especially if we’re going to put Yuki at a 9. Danny would’ve easily finished ahead of Yuki and possibly gained more had he not been screwed by not being allowed to exit the pits and catch the lap up before the restart. I feel like they’ve don’t that in the past. Idk why, but I want to say Baku a couple years ago? Stupid rule. As if the tire didn’t punish him enough. Same for Piastri, and I don’t even like him lol. Great driver tho. Just like his countryman.
Piastri still had damage in his car that they were not able to repair during the red flag
Guys... I love your content and I'm always happy to hear your opinions since I can't really talk to anyone about F1. But how the hell does Checo get a 7 and then Charles gets an 8??? I'm sorry but It just doesn't make sense to me. I just don't see it! If anything it feels like the other way around.
For real! Pretty sure they just don't like Checo.
Because Perez should be P2 not P4. He shouldn't have been 34 seconds behind Max, while Lando, in a worse car, was 8 seconds behind Max. Charles had a very good qualifying, okay sprint. I think they should both be one lower. But Charles had the better weekend imo, he qualified second and had a decent sprint, but never got to show his race pace. Perez again, should be P2, not P4 and 34 seconds behind Max. He should be beating Alonso in the AM which was the third fastest (race pace) car, when Checo is in one of the most, if not the most dominant cars we have ever seen in F1.
I think because you are also judged against your team mate
A 6 for Ricciardo is harsh, he set the third fastest lap time during the race. He misjudged a couple overtakes in the sprint w/ DRS but would've made it p8 with another lap against Sainz, so 7.5+ would be more accurate
I just cant understand that 7 for Perez. He had a great lap in q3 if it hadnt been to Piastri going off ahead of him, he could have qualified to the first or second row easily. He qualified p3 for the sprint, and finished on the podium in the sprint. I know that in the end he couldnt overtake Alonso, but note that he didnt have any stupid mistakes in that fight, no lock ups, they didnt even touch, even though they were very close to each other a few times. And even without finishing on the podium in the main race, he showed great pace throughout the gp. I think his overall performance was similiar to the redemption Stroll had this weekend, a strong result after many weak ones, not too far of the pace of their teammates
I agree these guys have been truly unfair to Checo.
Imagine if Perez won the race and Verstappen was stuck in 4th behind Alonso for half the race and misses a podium. Verstappen grade would be like a 3. This grades are just biased considering how "surprising" a result is. That's why Yuki got a 9 just because he has a good car, while he is literally top 3 worst drivers in the grid.
@@pedro.gandra Also it is "driver ratings" but then when a driver has a very bad car and makes whatever he can make of it, he still gets low grades.
When the car breaks down on him (and it happens to be red) he gets high rates.
Stroll was bout 5 seconds off Alonso the whole race meanwhile Perez finishes 34 seconds behind max and is praised before the last stint Checo couldn’t even get within 1 second of Alonso
@@BeneathTHeaveans Stroll started just behind Alonso, meanwhile Petez started p9 (or p8 with Leclercs dns), 7 places behind Verstappen, so it should be understandable to be slower while overtaking other cars. On the other hand if you look at how close the grid was throughout the weekend, there wasnt that big of a performance difference between the red bull and the others, to expect Perez to be p3 in 20 laps
Checo gets a 9/10 if Fernando got a 10/10 & Charles gets a 5/10 since he didn’t he didn’t start the race and finished 19???
If this race by Perez is a 9/10 then Max has to be 29748394/10 every single race. Because if Max finished p4 with Perez winning his grade would be like 3.
You can’t Perez a 9 when he’s so far off his teammate
@attack2254 checo was fairly close to max all qualis and got hurt by a bad team decision in q3. And his race was fine considering he started p9. Yet stroll who started p2 finished in p5 gets a 9
How do people just forget what car Perez is driving. If you all r saying perez did that well (which he did at times) then Max is a 20/10. To be so infront of your teammate ALL THE TIME is out of this world. So is it the car? Max gpdlike? Or checo performing poorly? YOU DECIDE!
Perez did a horrible job
He is in a rocket ship
He lost to Fernando
And max smoked him. You can’t give him a good score because he didn’t crash out or because he made q3 for once
Wdym charles got an 8 when he didnt even start the go and his sprint was pretty average his qualifying was helped by the weather and i know the hydraulics werent his fault but come on guys an 8 really should have been a 7 or 6.5 also giving perez a 7 for a what is for him really great weekend is just outrageous
yes it is known leclerc is bad in qualifications he was helped 😂
I think the fact that Daniel kept Oscar behind the whole race and was pretty far up the road from him too in a mclaren that was on the podium puts Daniel higher for me. Think a 6 was a little harsh taking that into account
Honestly in terms of pure pace, he was an easy 8 and caught up to Yuki (a lap down though). He then had to hold behind him to not impact Yuki's race in the points when he really could have had pace for an even better finish and easy double points, all because of really dumb rules that punish drivers for prioritizing safety and not driving around with damaged rear wings.
According to his engineer he was lapping close to the pace of Max and Lando and much faster than the other cars around him.
I was watching how quickly Danny and Oscar were catching up to the pack and was actually very impressed with how quickly they moved up from a 1:22 interval to just 40 or so seconds. Definitely harsh with the rating for Danny
Oscar's car still had damage impacting his performance.
Piastri had more damage that they couldn’t fix, but the fact that Daniel came from the pit lane start to coming out of his last stop in front of Yuki and was told to invert and hold station is plenty of evidence that he deserves more than a 6. I don’t think Yuki earned a 9, but he definitely shouldn’t be higher than Daniel. I think it will show in the last two races, Danny boy is back. I hope he gets a shot at the RB20, we know what Checo is, but more importantly, we know what he isn’t. In a closer fight with another team, he’s a liability. I think Daniel could be a perfect #2 driver beside Max, now that he sees clearly that Max is on a different level than any other driver on the grid.
Danny was so fast in the race I went back and watched the race on a map I honestly think even starting in pit lane he would of got 5th without the stupid lap down so if it's a safety car you can unlap but not a red flag :/
I know Checo is in the most dominant car and he's had terrible races lately and I don't wanna remember the Mexico thing due to ptsd lmao but this weekend we finally saw some consistency and probably the most interesting battle in all season with Alonso? If you are gonna give Charles an 8 he should be at least 9. I'd have accepted the 7 if Charlie was idk, 3 or 4 perhaps.
typical bias from them
You guys really don’t like Perez. Ricardo and Nico got a 6 ?! And Perez a 7?! Like How do you compare that…Perez started 9th and almost ended up 3rd. Plus amazing race with Alonso.
Because Beavis and Butt-head are fan-boys ! That's why !
Perez was half a second a lap slower than Max in both races. How do you give him more than a 7th. The car is a rocket ship he should not "almost" end up 3rd. He should be fighting for second at the least every weekend.
@@eriklaframboise are you serious! The car is absolutely not a rocket lol. 😂 the way they have been configuring that car has been an embarrassment. The car is great but it’s cater
For max. I don’t care what anyone says that car has one purpose and that is to make max win.
@@elisavillagomez5088 Why would they cater a car for a guy who can't even consistently get P2?
@@Ale-nv2bo okay good we agree that Perez car is not the same and that we can’t make a judgement based on on the vehicle that he is driving because it’s the not same as his teammate. I am glad we could clear that up.
Anyway, Perez had a good race this Sunday and that’s that. Even Alonso complimented Perez. I feel bad for Perez he is literally the community piñata and everyone is taking swings at him left and right.
Kudos to you for reading the comments on the previous video, acknowledging that you were wrong and actually changing the way you approach these driver rating videos. Well done
Yeah but these ratings still aren’t great are they
They weren't great this time either, Leclerc had a score too high, Daniel had much faster pace but was told to hold behind Yuki. Carlos was dealing with problems the whole race, and still finished well. Telemetry and track map data should help, as well as radios. Tbh even F1 themselves can't get ratings correct. They're even worse than this video which had most drivers correct.
He still gave Charles an 8!!! Wth Pérez deserved a 9 or an 8 at least
Leclerc getting an 8 is absolutely insane. He never started the race and the rankings are about the "Brazil GP"
How Danny Ric and Piastri received the same rate when the gap between their teammates were so different in all the competitive sessions?
In case nobody else has explained it in the comments, the reason Ricciardo and Piastri were a lap down is that they immediately came into the pits after the crash and everyone else had a lap behind the safety car. So DR and OP's transponders were down a lap.
Of course I believe they should've been able to drive around the track once, but that's just my opinion.
For me the confusion was that I always thought that after a red flag, all cars to get unlap themselves before the restart. Therefor the anger from Mercedes fan in '21 Abu Dhabi when only a few select cars got to unlap themselves. So you would think F1 fixed this kind of issue after that. It's obvious these 2 cars aren't going to unlap themselves during the race. That would basically require them to drive through the whole field, overtaking on their own strength, and create a lap worth of distance to catch up again. Not even RBR with Max can do that (yet).
Yeah it’s funny that I keep wanting to remind people that the “race” is to see who completes 71 laps the fastest. They should have been allowed a wave around to make up the lap but they didn’t, so you can’t just give them a free lap because they were innocent victims of the T1 crash
Honestly, if the race hadn't been red flagged they both would have retired, so the fact that they were allowed to race should be considered a gift already. They were in the garage calling it quits already.
@@turbo_brianit wasn't a gift, under the rules if they can make it back to the garage under their own power they can rejoin the track. If all the rules had been followed they should have been allowed to do another lap before the restart
But this is usually not the case. If I remember correctly, the fact that cars are allowed to unlap themselves under a red flag saved Hamiltons race in Imola 2021y According to the FIA’s 2021 sporting regulations paragraph 42.3, the same rules apply during a red flag situation as under the safety car. Two minutes before the race resumes, lapped cars are permitted to exit the pit lane and drive one lap and return to the back of the pit lane in the correct order.
That is why Hamilton was able to get a lap back on the leaders essentially for free.
And as @Nexujin already mentioned you would expect that this kind of thing isn’t allowed to happen after AbuDhabi 2021. 😅
8 for Leclerc?? NO WAY!
The Leclerc fanboyism from Matt is out of control
@@deeznoots6241 always has been. He's the kinda guy to call him "unlucky" when he crumbled under pressure in Imola, France etc, & rating him over Max
They ignored the DNS and judged just what he did in the sprint and quali... controversial criteria but a criteria nonetheless.
I would have probably accepted Checo's 7 if Charles' score wasn't an 8, don't really get that to be honest all things considered. I very much understand that he is being compared to his teammate, but when that teammate is the on track to become to GOAT and the dev of that car is clearly meant to suit Max, Checos performance this weekend has to be more than a 7 if Charles was an 8. Anyone in that second Red Bull seat is going to look bad when compared to Max, its time we just understand that and grade accordingly lol. But still loved the video! Always enjoy putting them on in the background while i work.
A 7 is very fair, development doesn't work that way. Checo had a decent recovery, he'd be an 8 if he stayed ahead of Fernando. But Charles didn't deserve an 8
I think 7 is right for Perez. He basically opened the door and let Fernando steal that podium. If he kept ahead of Fernando then its an 8
I agree Perez started 9th and finished 4th. He almost needed 3rd he had used tires and pit much earlier than Perez. I hate how critical everyone is to Perez. I swear he can have a good rece and get a 3 ranking while someone else can crash and get a 10 😅
@@elisavillagomez5088 I agree. The fact that Oscar couldn't beat an alpha tauri while Norris was keeping Max in sight still gets a 6 while Checo gets 7 for a great, confident comeback drive. It's just unfair to him at the moment.
Also consider Stroll got a 9 for finishing behind both Alonso and Checo. Ratings don't make sense tbh.
More suit to max ah yes here we go again so alonso aston martin more suit him than stroll and lewis merc is suit him not goerge and lando mclaren is suit him not ricciardo right and many more but max dominant his teamate people whining oh they sabotage his teamate 😂
this week the most nonsense score is that 7 to Per, sure he ought to have beaten Alo being 30 laps behind, but that's why Alo got a a 10. Per was top 3 in everything whole weekend except for a mess in the pits in q3 that then put him behind pia.
Lmao put Verstappen in Perez place and give that a grade, imagine max was stuck in 4th behind Alonso the whole race 35 seconds behind his teammate what would you grade him then?
@@BeneathTHeaveans the same 8 or 9 I give Per for this race
@@BeneathTHeaveansThis is suppose to be a driver rating for the weekend. Not a driver rating compared to your teammate, in which case Piastri should get a -2 for how many laps behind he was. I just would like to see them try to be more consistent, if you are going to dock points for a driver because he wasn’t as fast as his teammate, then do it every week for every driver.
@@0pticalstatic832 the thing is it wasn’t Piastri’s fault he was a lap down, if Alonso had retired on lap 1 then stroll prolly would a got a 10, it’s based on performance relative to the tools you have at your disposal, if we assume Max is driving 100% of the red bulls potential then how far off is Pérez
Not gonna lie, 8 for Charles and 7 for Checo just calls for a dislike. Too biased

@@soundscape26 that "mantra" is becoming tedious, wouldn't you agree?
The Aston’s were closer to the redbulls this race, Checo was solid this weekend had great race craft and gave us an awesome battle. 8.2 that’s a review.
I heard some of the interviews and it sounds like Max and Lando were doing tire management from the off. Max said from the warmup lap and Nando said tire management started in quali because they knew they would need those tires for the race. I think at the start, Lando pushed a bit, Max turned up the speed enough and then both just realized they were managing tires and that was the whole race.
I was thinking it was strange that the commentators were saying Max was pulling away after Lando was caught up and tried to make a move on Max, when clearly if you looked at the timings, Lando was definitely just managing straight away after he and/or his engineer realized getting past Max and keeping his tires intact to stay ahead was just pointless. From there on, yeah they were both managing.
Alonso's cheeky attitude and brilliance behind the wheel just makes me smile. Something about a 42 year old who still gets every little bit of performance out of the car and makes moves that make the best drivers in f1 look silly just brings me joy.
Please explain how a DNF (Even though it wasn't Leclerc´s fault) scores higher than Sergio Perez which had a fun and amazing battle with Alonso and went from 9th to 4th. That was Checo coming back to his roots, you guys have clearly biased against him, specially Matt

Yeah not a fan of that 7 for Checo. Bro might be driving the most dominant car in F1 history, but the fact that he climb all the way from 9th, which was not due to any fault of his own, since RB sent him out later than he should have, up to giving the best last lap fight since Abu Dhabi 2021, against a man who has experience over him and brought it down to the line. On top of that, if he had a better chance for Q3, might have been a repeat of the Sprint podium with Max, Lando, then Checo. I personally would have given a 9 especially when you look at his past performances this season since Miami

Finally! Been waiting for this video refreshing every now and then just to see if it's up!
It's honestly wild how Charles got an 8 from the both of you. And, don't get me wrong, He's like one of my favorite drivers, but to literally bin it on the outlap, given there were some problems behind it, I could never give him above a 6.
The Leclerc bias is crazy
"Im not gonna be too harsh on him" 😭 its like they are always ready to slander checo
I think next season you guys should rate the teams performance after the drivers. That way you could rate their strategy calls, mistakes, pit stops, etc.
You were wrong about Danny. He was behind Tusnoda for a long time, he had a pace to clear him, he even left space at one point of the race to see what's his pace in clear air. He was quicker than Tsunoda, but unlucky :(
Logan isn't on the updated car yet and Alex is. makes sense they may be nervous to give it to Logie because of $$$ but could be part of the pace reasoning
They've confirmed after Japan that Logan was not getting any updated parts anymore due to costs.
I don't think they had a choice. There isn't money to fabricate the updated parts. His car is just spares left over from previous upgrades.
@@vanbalzup6481 i have a theory they told him as long as he doesn’t crash the rest of the season he can keep his seat
@@vanbalzup6481 No, I think it's just them favouring their fastest driver based on costs. I think they will retain him for 2024.
His crashes didn’t help, but they need to stop comparing him to his teammate as Logan hasn’t had any of the same upgrades the whole season and at the same exact time. Did he do himself a disservice, yes, but he is learning. I am a Max fan and what happened to Max his first couple years? He was called Crashtappen for a reason…
So basically by doing nothing in the race (in this case not starting at all), it is possible to get higher grade than racers who started the race and did decent job. I like Leclerc a lot, but there is no way he should get higher grade than half of the grid just for FPs and quali.
The bias is insane

I feel you guys are bias against Perez, i bet that if you put anyone other than Hamilton or Alonso on that second Red Bull, Max will destroy them in a similar manner. Max has destroyed every teammate but Ricciardo, and he was way less experienced back then. Maybe it's time to accept Max is just that good and let it go.
They are on the hate train when it comes to checo....every video i see is either criticising him for a fault that's not his own...or if he really does good then they say it's the car and it deserved to be there. I mean at this point they should really tell their audience that they don't like checo. Clearly biased
2:45 lucky to be in that crash 😂😂
😂😂
I usualy agree with you in those ratings, but Albon 6, Perez 7, Leclerc 8 and Gasly 8... how is leclerc with the same grade as Gasly and not 6 or 7?? There is no logical reason for this
Perez a 7 after delivering one if not the best battle of the season?
One of his best performances of the season and his carrer? Being in the backfoot for the race because the yellow flag that Piastri caused AND screwing up his tyre strategy on that early stop???
But Charles and 8 for a DNF and lower position in sprint
Yeah nah
Team ratings would be interesting
Fernando was literally Maverick showing the recruits how to do the valley run in Top Gun Maverick.
Also that hug between him and Checo afterwards was so wholesome.
To have a huge show like this, and not know why they are a lap behind is crazy.
They did not do a lap behind SC because of which they were a lap behind and with red flag they came back into the race. Research aspect is clearly missing for these two guys. It has become a more of a watch us react to Leclerc’s bad luck or Alonso’s overtake.
Hilariously ironic given the speech 20 seconds into the video about how they've done more research.
In fairness, it's likely, like the rest of us, a frustrated "I don't know why the FIA don't have a common sense application of the rule" than an "I actually don't know".
@@walover165that will never be the case unfortunately, because the fuel load will impact how they perform and if they are allowed to lap themselves it is going to affect the way rules are applied since the car was not in pit lane but in garage.
@@PopeCanyon If they were sent out to do a lap before the restart fuel loads wouldn't be a problem. The issue is that the rules, as stated, encourage a driver to continue driving an unsafe car. The application of the rules actually punished Daniel and Oscar for doing the safest thing.
6:20 What? Five out of ten for a driver that caused a massive crash that put him and three other cars out of contention?
He ran into his own teammate!
Come on guys, 6 for Daniel is harsh. I had my smartphone showing Daniels car at the same time with the TV and was hearing the whole communication with his engineer. On numerous times he lifted so as not to pass Yuki and in both pitstops we waited for Yuki to pass him on the pit exit. He was running behind Yuki due to team orders, protecting him and waiting for a miracle Safety Car to get unlapped. Alos Oscar was the guinea pig for Mc Laren to test tyre degradation during the race for Lando as his race was also ruined. Stats showed he was the 3rd fastest in Sectors 1 & 2 in the race and 6th in Sector 6. At the last laps he deliberately created a gap with Yuki to push and check his time in clean air and his engineer told him he was one hundredth behind Max's lap. I wonder were he would finish if not for the stupid rule...
6 was too generous. Did you see how carelessly he placed his car in T1 when the tire hit him?! If he had any talent he would have sensed the flying chunk of rubber flying at him from behind and instinctively dodged it
ridiculous take mate you can't just swerve full lock to the right or left during a situation like that. Imagine hating Ricciardo so much that you call someone who is an 8 times race winner (never in the quickest car) someone with "no talent" @@scottmeredith3359
🤣@@scottmeredith3359
@@scottmeredith3359 Yes, stupid of him for not being able to calculate at the time he was driving and avoiding other cars in the 1st turn the trajectory of a bouncing tyre. So let's just give him a score of 2... 😉😉
Qualified behind Yuki twice in the same weekend and finished 9th in sprint when Yuki got 6th.
If Yuki is as crap as you people think he is then what do these results show?
As an Aussie waking up at 4am to watch the Race only to have both Australians absolutely shafted within the first corner really sums up my love hate relationship with this sport. 😅
As a Versappen/RBR fan I fully agree with your number one this weekend. That was an EPIC finish.
Can you guys make a F1 team ratings for 2024?
Since we always see big mistakes from the teams' perspectives and can't really blame the drivers, shall we also start seeing a team ratings segment? (based on setup, strategy, car development, etc.)
Oscar hasnt been that good because all the latest tracks were new to him. He will be insane next year.
Matt: I can’t give Logan any lower
Tommy: I can!
OMFG......for days, everyone has been whining about how they don't understand how Danny and Oscar are a lap down.....Here's how. After they suffered damage on Lap 1 in the first turn and the yellow flag was thrown, followed by the safety car deployment, EVERYONE was instructed to run through the pits to avoid the main straight. EVERYONE entered the pits and left minus Danny and Oscar both of whom when into the garage, presumably to retire due to damage, the rest of the field left the pits and STARTED LAP 2, the Auzzies did not leave the pits, thus they HAD NOT STARTED Lap 2. Then the RED FLAG was thrown and all the cars came back to the pit to wait for the restart. Danny and Oscar's cars were fixed under the RED FLAG, as allowed by the rules, then the went back out with the rest of the field to restart the race, BUT they were now starting LAP 2 where as everyone else was starting LAP 3, thus they were 1 LAP down......this is how racing works, it's not a mystery. Argue that the rule sucks but in this case FIA got it right. Now you can argue, and I would agree, that the FIA should have put the RED FLAG out right after the safety car as it was clear there was damage to the tire barriers, but that still doesn't negate that fact that as the way things unfolded Danny and Oscar were both ONE LAP DOWN.
While I understand all of this, I don't understand why cars are allowed to unlap themselves during a safety car, but not with a red flag. That's a bit weird, right? I wonder what the logic behind that is?
I seem to remember at a red flagged race before they let the lapped cars drive around the circuit while everyone is in the pit lane to unlap themselves, could be wrong though. I think they just messed up and didn't realize they where a lap down.
Not to mention that they would have had a fuel advantage if they could start on the same lap.
@@danib1379 They were not a lap down when the SC was deployed. That's why they were not eligible to unlap themselves prior to the restart.
@@danib1379 my understanding of the rule is, and the internet will correct me if I am wrong, is that once the Red Flag is flown the grid is frozen, ie if you were in 1st on lap 2 when the Red Flag flies, you're in 1st when the race restarts. You dont get to "move up" or "catch up" cause the field is locked. Exceptions being, if the field didn't make it to a detection point to lock in their positions before the Red Flag went out then the field reverts to the starting order (like what happened last year in the British GP when Zhou had his huge crash, the Red Flag went up before all the cars got to the first detection zone so the grid reset to the start, basically a "do over". This time in Brazil, the field finished the first and second lap under yellow/safety car, where you can not pass, unless someone has an issue, ie slams into the wall, so the grid was frozen. This is why Lando, who started 6th, made his way to 2nd, started in 2nd on the restart. Danny and Oscar were down a lap and had to stay there. I know Danny doesn't like the rule, but the rules were followed in this instance.
It’s always funny that when Lando and Fernando get P2 they are 10s and Charles and Lewis are 9 at best!
Speaking for Lando he was 9secs ahead of third in the sprint and 26secs in the race. He was out of sight. He was also within .1 sec per lap of Max. Alonso I assume got it for the great racing at the end of the race in a car that had been poor in the races leading up to it.

Another suggestion for next year's ratings.
Rate Sprint/shootout separately from quali/race, and only with the maximum score of 5/5 since it is a shorter race (whether you choose to have .5 or decimal increments or just whole numbers is up to you guys.)
ya ya right Leclerc gets an 8 and checo gets a 7...….that's how a biased opinion looks like.
i was watching the timing screen near the end of the race daniel was not far off max' pace obviously max was probably cruising, but he was one of the fastest people on the track
Sugestion: For next year you should grade the race also (main race + sprint) , just the short Interlago's sprint was better than a lot of a full races this year. =)
Oh shoot I love Tommy just being like, "I can." BOOM!
Riccardo 6 perez 7 hahaha u guys have some favorites in this channel 😄
TV direction rating: -69 billion
Checo rated below Charles who didn’t even race is the dumbest thing ever
😂😂😂😂 Tommy straight in with logy, I can!
‘Did research’ my ass
Qualifying - was fcked over by strategy that left Oscar and Lando out too late to do a lap before the rain. Oscar made that mistake he did because of an unexpected strong wind and a slightly slippery track on softs. The team has admitted they made a mistake in qualifying letting them out way too late.
Sprint Qualifying - strategy left him no new softs, and being the first to set a lap meant the other drivers had more traction on him and they also had new softs on
Sprint race - got stuck in a DRS train, had some great fights with 2 very experienced drivers in Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso
Race - damage, duh. They replaced the rear wing but he still had damage to the back of the car hence why he was slower than Daniel. And even so, the team knew he wouldn’t be getting into the points so he spent his race testing tyres for Lando and just gaining general experience, they treated it like a practice session not a race.
And this is all without mentioning this is a NEW track for him, never raced here before, and had 1 practice session to get a read of a track you need a good rhythm to do right
So, how does someone that makes a 5th in the sprint (ahead of an AT, Mercedes and his teammate) and DNF in the race; has a better grade than someone how manage to be 3rd in the sprint qually (on used tyres), and performs probably one of the best battles of the season with Alonso? I'm not saying Checo deserves a 10, but an 8 is good. At this point is almost disrespectful to say that a DNF is better than a 4th place 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
💫👏
Oscar was on a brand new track with one practice session “what’s going on” is a bit harsh eh? 😉
Piastri 6 is a bit over the top? I mean, he was off pace all weekend. He crashed as well. He did not get points in Sprint. Giving him a 6 compared to other 6ers is a bit biased I would say.
Albon “didn’t do well” in the sprint qualy because he’s lap got interrupted by red flags from o on and Alonso
Was Perez a 7? Seems very low if Leclerc gets an 8. Ferrari have great one-lap pace this season, so it's not that surprising to seem him on P2. Tires probably would have fallen off a cliff as per usual, because the Ferrari's favorite food is tires. The 'what could have been' for Leclerc is almost certainly better than 'what would have happened'. So then Checo, who seems to have found some form again, and I get the argument that he's in a Red Bull and lost on track to an Aston Martin. But then the Red Bulls didn't seem that dominant around here, Norris was almost making life difficult for Max for a few corners, which is about as close as anyone has gotten to him this season. Leclerc's grade seems very lenient, Checo's grade seems harsh.
even when lecrash doesn't even race for some strange reason cherles is always outperforms checo weird how that works
For next year, add the camera direction in it. Just to hear what they missed, could have shown, might bring some more attention to get this improved.
What the F???? Perez 7??? He had a very good weekend. 3rd in the sprint and 4th in the race with a comeback from 9th to 4th. Why all the people in Europe have some remorse for Perez? Although he has the best car, he deserves at least an 8.
I enjoy F1, have done since 1976, I don’t follow any particular team or driver I just like good racing, viewed from that perspective these biased love ins are laughable, but I still watch every time.
Matt: *inhales*
...
UTILISING!
As a LH fan it’s the 1st time I was thinking please can we end this race 😩 it’s too painful 😣
Charles an 8 wtf lol
Not far off for me to stop watching these driver ratings at this point. How the f*ck do you give Charles an 8?? Can you at least pretend to be unbiased? I'm not exactly a perez fan, but the man did exactly all he could this weekend and giving him anything less than an 8 is criminal.
I'm not going to question the scores on Oscar and Danni, but Oscar, in my opinion is doing well for his first year as a rookie driver compared to others and is still out qualifying more experienced drivers. Dannie, well now that it has been explained how they got that lap down, it is one of those 'what if moment', they could have both been fighting for somewhere around 6th or 7th.
The reason Oscar and Daniel we a lap down was cause they came into the pits to retire/fix their cars under the safety car for the first start while everyone else started the next lap which was when the red flag was called
biased towards leclerc and against Sergio Perez.
after this year I think everyone can agree that gasly is better than ocon right?
Ocon has had many DNFs from engine failure, before he was much ahead of Gasly. COTA & Brazil, he made mistakes but otherwise he's been ahead
Ocon has had 7 DNFs this season the most and was in great scoring positions in most of them
like Alonso Vs ocon last year. alpine has always had reliability problems. but in terms of pure pace gasly is better. first year in alpine is already beating him. in 2020 won a race in an alpha Tauri. in 2021 also gasly was very good
The background music is the same as what formula e use before the live stream starts
Saying if Lando had started pole maybe we'd have had a battle... he started first in the sprint and lost it by turn 1 😂
Stop hating Pérez, guys. Everyone can tell by now 😅
a 6 for Danny Ric when his pace was amazing and getting hit by a tire wasn't his fault? He was driving well, the rules and idiots in front of him were the issue not the driver.
yuki had clutch issues... they told him not to push and just bring the car home thats why he didnt chase after Hamilton. They also had poor strat as usual with Alpha Tauri, he was racing Gasley and was matching his pace but they let him get undercut by everyone by. keeping him out way too long on mediums stint. Nevertheless great driver from Yuki to score the teams first ever sprint points and score points across both races and close the gap to Williams in the constructors. Deffo my driver of the day outside of Alonso !!
Truly interesting how last year Charles stood himself mostly in the way before the weird Strategy calls, and this year its mostly the car.
Ferrari truly in the Bin
Lance gets a 9 and checo gets a 7? Really? Mad disrespect. He gained more places from a spot that was dictated by Piasti's f-up. Max gets a 10/10. If it's just the car and Perez can't do it then Max doesn't deserve perfect praise. Sergio moved up and made some great overtakes and had a photo finish for the podium. Where are Lances's highlights? They don't exist... Max is a once in a generation driver and you cannot possibly compare anyone else to him
