Remember he out qualified Lando by just .03 and that got him the front row start. You cant count it twice. Tommo docked Lando a point for that. He was in the second fastest car in the race . If Lando hadnt had issues and the virtual safety car hadnt happened (for once in Oscars favor) he could have ended up 30 secs behind Lando. Thats huge. Oscar admitted it wasnt a good drive. The shocking part about Logan is that he seems to be getting worse. Bahrain and Saudi were his best performances of the year and it's been downhill ever since.
Polar opposite to Oscar, who's been just okay early on and is now putting in amazing performances. Even Mick last year (since you cant really take Year 1 with THAT Haas into account), who had an awful start to the season, crashing lots and being generally slower than KMag greatly picked up the pace from Canada onward, being the faster Haas driver in an unfortunately yet again too slow of a car in the second half of the season. But compared to his teammate, he improved massively, even winning the race head-to-head despite less points - and he still lost that seat. Same goes for Yuki in his rookie season, he improved significantly and has been improving ever since.
For Logan, it seems to be the polar opposite so far.

Does Piastri need to win the race to get a 9 or 10? Pretty tough on a track he's never raced on.
It's funny how everyone keeps banging on about the 17 seconds that Piastri finished behind Norris but it was likely his engineer that was telling him to race at that pace to save his tyres. There was no need to race Norris as McLaren prioritised Norris as usual. All Piastri had to do was finish in front of LeClerc which he did by 8 seconds. Too much focus on the time he finished behind Norris when that wasn't his race and he was still finishing 3rd regardless of the gap. The fact Piastri beat Norris in qualifying on a track he had never raced on showed who will be the better driver next year. Isn't Norris the highest points scorer in history without a win to his name? Would be rather awkward if Piastri beats him to a win in his first season.

Honestly, I do think it was generous to give Logan a 1. Stroll got a zero in Singapore and earned it. Logan had his worst weekend to date with double crashes.
Liam. AT's probably kicking themselves right now. I don't think Yuki's the one at risk...but it's shocking that a fresh rookie can come in absolutely on par with a 3rd year driver....and they've already signed a streaky veteran that's shortly to have his second "return" this year.
Perez...1 may be a tad generous. Between Japan and Singapore, there's just stupid inexcusable mistakes and a lack of pace all around. Between the two races, he has half as many penalties as he deserved, and it's still a lot of penalties. Even though the car's won 15/16 races this year, he's missed the podium half of the time. Given Liam's current performance and Perez's current performance, I know which one I'd want driving for my team next year. They're gonna try to clinch P2...but Perez making it to the end of the year is likely dependent on Hamilton's performance.

@@CrAzY__SaM Not sure how that is meaningful in any way. So, RB without Checo would have 400 points, which still puts them ahead of other teams, but then other teams would have picked up more points so it might be close.
So, let's say that after running the numbers, RB end up being second without Checo. Does this make Checo's contribution more meaningful or makes his performance look any better? Not really, all it shows is that, Max has been so dominant that he still almost single handedly won the title for the team, and the fact that you could probably have had Nick De Vries or Logan on that seat and RB would still have won quite comfortably.
Also, I think the fundamental issue isn't necessarily about Perez's point contribution since the car is so fast that any driver should be placing P2 every race. It is the fact that, his pace is so significantly behind Max AND that he has made too many errors that, if the other teams start catching up, then Perez would start finishing much lower, and this could cost RB the championship. To put it into perspective, at Suzuka McLaren scored 33 points in total. IF Perez didn't screw up and finished P6, that would put RB at 34 points, barely beating McLaren. That kind of scenario is what RB need to be afraid of.

8 for Lewis. Turn one collision has the only one who could have anticipated. Did a Brasil 2021 on George. But an eight out of ten, why not. Its a bad car 🤣.

at 7.31 one emptyheaded says to the other, we qualify the race and not the qualification. then at 9.51 the qualifying round is recorded again by the other empty head, and then miraculously the one empty head speaks again, and yes, based on the qualifying round, a word for you. blowing tree wood. you hear something but it doesn't mean anything.

George is such a snake. He is eighth in the championship. And he is fighting like he's going for the championship Battle with Lewis Hamilton, who is clearly much better and ahead of him in the championship. What if George Russell was seventh and Lewis Hamilton was fighting for the first in championship and he would be behaving like a cry baby. And fighting his teammate the way he was is just bad Strategy and teamwork by the whole Mercedes team.

I can confidently say if I was in pierre's situation I would have just ignored the radio for the last few laps and said it didn't work. I imagine they're wireless otherwise I would literally just unplug my headset. For 1 point that's not something you waste the drama for as a team. That's how you can tell alpine won't be winning a championship anytime soon.

Liam won against Yuki but he certainly wasn't faster. Liam overtook him at the start because Yuki had to slow down because of the Ferraris, Perez and Hamilton. After that he was at Liam's rear end the whole time. Then they switched positions and Yuki was very slowly pulling way. At the end he then had much more pace (I'm not sure if his strategy was better either, he lost around 9 seconds to Liam by pitting 5 laps later and those were hards, I don't think 5 laps on hards with low fuel makes a difference of 0.5 seconds). Considering he's a rookie it was more impressive but objectively speaking Yuki had the better race imo
I also wouldn't give them such a high grade. P11 and P12 sounds great but there were a lot of retirements (thanks Checo) so it looks better than it was
    Liam: 6/10
    Yuki: 6.5/10

Verstappen is an exceptional driver with and exceptional car in an exceptional team. Remove either factor, and you won't get the level of dominance he's displayed this season.
I am a fan of both Gasly and Ocon, with Gasly being ever so slightly above, and I see both sides. If Gasly wasn't told they'd switch back I definately understand his frustration - keeping in mind he comes across as very emotional over the radio be it positive or negative. Still, it was the right desicion to switch them back considering Ocon had let him through voluntarily. F1 is a team sport, with egotistical (as they need to be in order to get that far in motorsport) team players, who sometimes feel unfairly treated when they are objectively not.

I would actually drop seperate ratings from you guys. I noticed once again that you echo your scores, so it would be more interesting to give a grade on average and argue out eventual modification. Some even gimmick like a Man of the Weekend +2 points, Goatifi award or whatever to spice it up if you disagree.

Yes, but only because KMag got held up behind that 3-way bump down towards turn 1. He lost about 4 positions on that because he had nowhere to go. I honestly don’t think Nico deserved a 5, because he still only ended up just ahead of KMag despite KMag losing so much time and many positions twice...
