While people roasted Marko for it, Perez is his own worst enemy. Had Checo kept his cool, he could have scored a good result. But good is not good enough for Checo. He wants to be the best in the world, he wants to beat Max, but all he succeeds beating is himself.

Slanderous- I always find Mexico City entertaining! We haven't had a good yeet in a while! Gracias, Checo! And quali was interesting for the first time in a while. And Lando made his way from the bottom of the grid. Good times
The race certainly wasn't boring, aside from Max winning by a controlled margin. Sure, Austin almost had a battle for the lead in comparison, but in the end it didn't really happen either. - Two standing starts. Love it. - Ricciardo's form in that AT! - Lando. Look at his race for a minute. Going from the back to 8th, going for a pitstop during the VSC, just before the RedFlag gets waved. Which dropped him back to 10th(?) saved his car in what would've been a pile-up during the restart, forcing him to 15th(?!) and he STILL overtook Oscar and Russell on similar tires before the end. Amazing pace. - Lewis just telling his Mediums to not disintigrate while having pace. Were he not have been given the DQ in Austin he would've tied Checo on points here. - Yuki's amazingly strong drive until his frustration management went out of the window (mostly due to the AT having no topspeed - I don't blame him - similarly Ricc would've gotten past George if they had more straightlinespeed). - Esteban warning Nico he's sending it - and then coming up short and not committing at all. - Eyebrows raised when Bottas somehow had a mental slip when Stroll of all people pulled a move on him in the stadium section.
Agreed. Checo is handing LH P2 on a “silver” platter. Think the crowd pressure pushed him into something insane like this. Just happy it only affected his race and no one else.
I'm surprised there were no memes about Yuki getting punted out of a good position by the second McLaren AGAIN. Although last year was definitely clumsy by Danny and this year it was 100% Yuki's own fault.
The Tv direction thing is so frequent now i believe it's a deliberate tactic to make you buy the full package that gives you all the cameras, just happens too often now to be solely incompetence.
One thing that really surprised me this race came before it with Karun, who normally makes fairly sensible statements and predictions, saying he was sure Ferrari could challenge for the win.
Not quite sure how you can call this as boring. Compared to some others this season. Ignoring the inevitable that was Max which we’ve had to do all season. We had 3 wide into turn one. Home favourite crash. Norris having comeback of the year (twice). Hamilton vs Ferraris. Danny Ric being brilliant. Red flag restart. Yuki been Yuki. We had overtakes at unconventional places - not just turn 1 DRS passes. So yeah maybe not the best but hardly boring.
Max and Lewis: "the crowd here is so awesome" The crowd: "yeah we'll show how awesome we are when Leclerc comes around" I understand that of course Checo fans will be upset for Checo going out, but that was just pathetic. Almost as bad as Max receiving the same treatment for absolutely nothing a week ago.
I don’t get how this is the worst track on the calendar? The racing was really good. Sure it’s kinda hard to overtake but the double drs straight really evens things out. For me, this was in the top 50% of races this season.
This is the first time perez has shown hunger for a win in race since the start of the season. So I don’t mind he dnf’d but he has to take a look at the points table too.
I enjoyed the race, it was a bit of a slow burn...the track doesn't generate great racing but it does seem to generate interesting happenings, if only due to the elevation and unique surface, and has a great atmosphere.
True. But I feel it lessens the blow of Hamilton's disqualification (through no fault of his own as a driver) at COTA. If Lewis can secure 2nd in the driver's standings, that will be very impressive, and I'd hate to see that possibility disappear when he's doing everything he can to close the gap. Lewis has been really consistently good (save for that T1 mistake where he hit George in, was it Qatar?), and Perez has not. Not that I want to pile on Perez's misery, but I really wonder if the pressure of that second Red Bull seat is chewing him up like Gasly and Albon before him.

Even if it were his fault, it was no reason to punch a fan. Imagine if people punched Checo fans everytime he crashed, his fans wouldn't leave Mexico😂
I read that happened before the race because of something related to some seats, not because of anything that happened on track.
@@soundscape26 ah I didn't look too much into it.
I was staring at Ricardo and Russells times when Max won
I was a bit pissed that they didn't show Russel and Ricciardo when Max finished. I was focused on the time aswell.
Expected some memes of the clip where Perez was apologizing to the pit crew and they looked like they were ignoring him and Perez awkwardly walked away with a blank look on his face 😂
Might have been boring if you were a Max Checo or Ferrari fan, but for the rest of us it was pretty good. Lots of spicy overtakes, crashes, tension etc
15:50 and 16:20 Charles is a sensitive guy. He was responding to the booing, trying to explain to the crowd that the incident with Checo wasn’t his fault. If it were Max, he is such a gangster. He would have turned his back to the crowd and talked over the booing with his boyish lisp. He is a gangster with a lisp.
He doesn't have a lisp, he's got a hoarse voice.
Danny ric's race: defending against hamilton, which passed him.
6th now. Race restart, back to 7th. Quickly got piastri into turn 2. Back to 6.
Hamilton/russel? I think russel. Came through, got ricciardo. Finishing p7 starting p5 in objectively the slowest car on the grid.
Give this man a beer🎉
"Tell Hulkenberg I said his Mum is soooo Fat" Estie Bestie
4:26 I think whether he get's P2 or not is irrelevant to his seat. The only reason he's still P2 is because Hamilton had back-to-back 0s. He'll be the luckiest man on the planet if he finishes in 2nd at the end of Abu Dhabi...
Also I'm pretty sure someone gave Danny a white RB because he was absolutely *COOKING*
There's no way Danny wasn't driving a RedBull lol.
@@joshn1678 Yuki was flying in the other AT as well until his crash, from p18 to p8 and challenging a mclaren for p7. AlphaTauri upgrades have definitely worked.
It is possible for a team to jump up like that, look how quickly McLaren bounced back and how quickly Aston fell this year. It is so tight outside the TOP4 teams that any slight change to favor your team and suddenly you have good pace. No need for silly theories..
@@teokotirinta2960 Agreed and looks like Aston`s upgrades failed, they desperately needed them to work because they were already on a decline..
Alpha Tauri doing a Redbull this race with one driver scoring massive points while the other unecesaarily crashes out.
The best way to cap off a race weekend is with this channel.
I will be very surprised if Sergio is still in the car next year
I'm surprised he's still racing. Not long ago Red Bull would take out drivers for a lot less.
@@gundamzerostrike Because as horrible as he was doing, rn, he was still the best option to secure an RB 1-2 in the driver's championship. Unless they could bought out Alonso's contract with AMR and put him in instead.
@@gundamzerostrike the only reason he’s still in the car is because Ricardo broke his hand… he probably would’ve been out after Japan certainly after Qatar
Unless RB rips up Perez’s contract, he probably has at least one guaranteed year, then there’s a chance that Riccardio gets moved up and Lawson brought in?
@@gundamzerostrike He’s P2 in the drivers and has a contract for next season that they need him to agree to terminate. He would never agree to that without at least being able to see out the season.
Sergio forgot he's not Max Verstappen.😂😂😂
Checo is causing 2nd hand embarrassment for me...
Thats my guy .what he did today was 😩 greedy or he knows he is on his way out
Ignoring all the Ferrari strategy memes while scanning all of twitter for Alpine memes so he can get his daily Ocon bash out of the way. It's a classic Matt video alright.
He is from the UK, isn't he? The anti-French attitude that he constantly puts on display feels familiar.
I honestly liked the gp. There were a lot of interesting things happening merc vs ferrari/norris being a rocket/ ŕiccardo having a good race. And a lot o drama: perez, yuki, aston Martin, haas
Best comment from Lewis Hamilton in the cooldown room when he say Perez divebomb - he did what I did at Qatar
Checo might as well have announced retirement after that retirement
Kept refreshing TH-cam for your video to post. It’s here 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I hope the podcast mentions how Hulkenberg managed to keep Ocon and Gasly behind him for a whole bunch of laps. Like the Haas wasn't actually awful.
I'm glad I had Russell's on-board open and could see Dany ric coming up behind him
Any race where max leads and wins is “boring” to Matt 😂😂
There's this myth of the Red Bull being an absolute rocketship. The firmest believer in it seems to be Perez. He really tries hard to make the RB19 work like rocketship. While people roasted Marko for it, Perez is his own worst enemy. Had Checo kept his cool, he could have scored a good result. But good is not good enough for Checo. He wants to be the best in the world, he wants to beat Max, but all he succeeds beating is himself.
I really appreciated that wrestling GIF, especially the time Matt kept it running for us.
For me it got funnier each time the wrestler "leaves the ring" hehehe
That Daniel and Russel fight is the first time I was internally screaming.
Not only do they show Max instead of THE fight of the race, they then wait the 20 or so minutes to show Hamilton crossing the line after Max?!
Crofty in commentary: All the fans might go home now after seeing Checo exit the race
Does he realise how much a F1 entry ticket is for the main race!?
Either way, I think that was the moment Checo lost his seat in Red Bull. There was space to avoid Charles but he totally blew it.
I don't think Red Bull will hold it against him that he shot for the moon and missed. I think the consistently poor results in the rest of the season will hurt him far more
In a way he proved that he still had a fighting spirit and honesty I didn’t see RB drooping him, they don’t have a realistic replacement for him
Charles and Max swapping places again like they did in Qatar last week 😂
I love how from this and the pod, Matt seems to be under the impression it wasn't just misguided smack-talk from Ocon and he was actually asking Alpine to get Guenther on the line and let Hulk know he was coming 😂
Slanderous- I always find Mexico City entertaining! We haven't had a good yeet in a while! Gracias, Checo! And quali was interesting for the first time in a while. And Lando made his way from the bottom of the grid. Good times
Leclerc driving half the race with a broken front wing was impressive.
Redbull tries another overtake around the outside. Redbull throws another car at the scenery. 😂
I must say that this episode was great, the memes were high quality, Matt's reactions were genuine. Thanks, internet people!🥰
Attended the race today - fans forsure did not leave, but the disappointment was apparent throughout the crowd
Reputable people reporting lots left early, if their behaviour over the last week is any indication, I'm not surprised.
On TV the stands looked packed even after Perez retiring so those leaving were not in huge amounts I'm sure.
@@dodgemf1 define lots? what percentage of the 400,000 capacity crowd?
The crowd pressure? He keeps making stupid mistakes outside of Mexico. Remember Japan?
Don't need external pressure, his own head is doing it all for him.
Can't wait for the last race where Perez needs help from Max to secure P2 and gets denied again
Such TV directions happen when the TV team is unaware of the sports or got job by bribing...
Perez walking through his garage, looking lost and his team pretty much ignoring him, was one of the sadder things I've seen in F1.
Checo's job may be done but the rest of the team still have jobs to do.
No further action against Charles. P3 confirmed! ❤
Wasn’t expecting to see a Rocket League reference in the thumbnail and the RL tweets after 😂
One thing that really surprised me this race came before it with Karun, who normally makes fairly sensible statements and predictions, saying he was sure Ferrari could challenge for the win.
Riccardo and Norris made it interesting.
FIA was right, apparently Hamilton is a role model, since both Perez and Tsunoda copied his move from Qatar 😂
Can we change the “honorable mentions” segment of the show to “best of the rest” these fire tweets deserve more.😊
No memes about Leclerc waiting for those 5 laps until the hards are faster than the mediums?
Overtake of the day:Max took 3 cars at ones at the firsth corner!
I was a bit dissapointed by the red flag, without it the different strategies would have been really exciting!
It would be nice to see a Hamilton x Leclerc fight with similar tyres
I was so hyped to see Max tear though the one-stoppers. We were robbed of a truly epic and
TYPICAL SKYF1 not using split screen/mini box on riccaro-russell THE OFFICIAL F1 CHANNEL DID USE SPLIT SCREEN!!!!!!!!!
was a fun race - all the action was from 4th to 10th
Mexican fans leaving when Checo is out on the first corner, then booing Leclerc for something he had no control over. OOF
That race was far from boring. There were constant battles in the midfield and lower points positions.
Max and Lewis: "the crowd here is so awesome"
The crowd: "yeah we'll show how awesome we are when Leclerc comes around"
I understand that of course Checo fans will be upset for Checo going out, but that was just pathetic. Almost as bad as Max receiving the same treatment for absolutely nothing a week ago.
Seriously not a single meme for Ferrari telling Carlos “Plan A”??? I am wholeheartedly disappointed. 😭
I don’t get how this is the worst track on the calendar? The racing was really good. Sure it’s kinda hard to overtake but the double drs straight really evens things out. For me, this was in the top 50% of races this season.
“Let’s just do it and be legends” -the Fyre Fest Guy
-Sergio Perez
This is the first time perez has shown hunger for a win in race since the start of the season. So I don’t mind he dnf’d but he has to take a look at the points table too.
Ricciardo tracking down russel at the end had me on the edge of my seat. It felt like the gap between them was 0.014 for ages.
If it hadn’t been so late, I’d have submitted a “Red Bull gives you wings” meme 😉
Okay but like imagine the move worked and he went from P5 to P1, that crowd would’ve erupted
I enjoyed the race, it was a bit of a slow burn...the track doesn't generate great racing but it does seem to generate interesting happenings, if only due to the elevation and unique surface, and has a great atmosphere.
Imma lewis fan, but mannn i felt sad for checo
I hate when someone goes out first corner, especially from the front of the grid.
1:24
HILARIOUS delivery
I was expecting the three-headed dragon meme for Checo with the three heads in order being his quali, start and first corner.
I actually really enjoyed this race!
Everyone's focusing on Lando's qualifying, which admittedly wasn't good, but imagine what could have been if he had a decent launch on the restart.
That's the problem with Lando. At the moment he is all about the woulda, could a, should a.
I can't stop laughing at the Ocon section 😂
Checo's start may have been a slightly too good for his own good. Because now he got greedy when he saw a tiny opportunity.
Your comment arguably reflects both Perez' Mexico GP and his season as a whole.
@@eobardthawne891 Ha! Indeed. ;)
