Here's a look at the armor and how skills work and whats best for you to craft early: th-cam.com/video/ZjYIsdBHwf8/w-d-xo.html What's your favourite weapon so far?
I know this probably wont matter to most people but I LOVE that you can see the influence of both toukiden weapons and monster hunter weapons blended together, as I am a big fan of toukiden and monster hunter, with toukiden having some of my favorite weapon styles of any monster hunter esk game
I was a spear and rifle main in Toukiden 🤙 dabbled in the club but didn't like it as much as Great sword from MH. I really like how the nodachi is handled in Wild Hearts though. Very fun
@@Breagle blocking, shield bashing, throwing it like a boomerang... I'd main that, no doubt. Would love if it weren't a towershield either, just a simple combat buckler you bash monsters with
@@Vektor480 my take is duel shields like the ones that Captain America had in infinity war. They are the acting fist weapons. Attacking, blocking, and countering builds up a bar and when maxed you combined the dual shields into a giant shield that you can use to throw like a boomerang, fly across the field like a beyblade, or just continue bashing
@@Vektor480 Perhaps even some transformation akin to that of the Shield Hero's shield. Like, different shield forms will have different combos and/or abilities.
Hand Cannon has some really good synergy with the glider and crates. The glider lets you unload the entire cannon in the air, which is usually safe if the kemono doesn't have the ability to hit you there. And if you need to burn off your heat and can't find the time to blast a mortar, you can jump off of a crate and unload all of your heat immediately into a shot.
As someone that has spent a lot of time playing SnS in MH Rise and Sunbreak, the maul's playstyle interests me. It seems a lot like the Perfect Rush combo with SnS, but with much bigger numbers.
As someone with a ton of time on SnS over the years, Maul has been an absolute blast. Wasn't really sure why it clicked so well, but that would do it. Even without a visual cue for the timing when your character is just a silhouette behind the monster, the timing is really easy to get used to and that would explain why, lol.
@@meep5886 It's fun. It has its issues, and it's still a bit rough around the edges, but at the same time, it took Capcom almost 20 years for Monster Hunter to get to where it is, so I can't fault that too much. If you're a fan of Monster Hunter, give it a go. It has a lot of cool twists in "kill monster to get parts to kill bigger monster" theme. The base building and using the karakuri aspects make it really, really fun.
For the nodachi, as long as you're holding the special button, you can continue to hit the monster to deal damage AND charge your gauge faster instead of waiting.
Special button? Like R2/right trigger?... I hold that and love using the springs to recharge my stamina and get ready 2 hits in to charge the bar faster and a dodge
the maul feels really good once you get a decent rhythm going and it's just so beautifully, stupidly massive as well. I played around a bit with every weapon available and they were all really fun and relatively easy to understand thanks to the solid tutorial. Wish MH had something similar. Name your gosh diggity dang Tsukumo!
The "Staff" is interesting, but I feel like they took 5 unique weapons and put them into one rather than just giving people access to those 5 weapons. The ultra great sword notwithstanding, the other weapons would have been good standalone weapons by themselves, so they seem to have hamstrung themselves a bit and reduced the overall weapon count
They might implement full move sets for each mutation but then the weapon might become meta because why use anything else when you have a one all do all type of weapon
After testing the first 5 Weapons i loved the Nodachi.. but when the second wave unlocked the Claw Sword has me hooked.. its SO much fun and super satisfying to dodge the attack and then rush in for big dmg :D
You made so many videos for this game, thank you for that. I can imagine how much time you put for that! I approciate it. I wish I had time to watch them all at once!
In monster hunter I mained dual blades and dabbled with the hammer. In this game, the claw blade will be my main but compared to MH,all of WH weapons appeal to me and I will for sure want to try them all!

the umbrella the guy just said to block counter or parry with it. in order to fill the gauge you have to do the blocks or counters. it may not be what you expected but doesnt mean it wont be good. it different and i like different.
MHW Lance was my fav version of it... mostly since the shield felt used the most including clutch claw variant of it. WOuld love it if WH had something akin to that though sadly not too into umbrellas
@@Crispy77760 Downside to umbrella, in my experience so far, is that the counter window is very small. @@Javiolanti The umbrella is more like a Longsword. I wanna be able to block and such. I loved the Gunlance, Sword and Shield, and Charge Blade which have all good abilities to block. Yeah, I certainly hope they'll add some weapons as they go. Would love to see something like a Karakuri Gauntlet/Shield where as you attack you build up a gauge that then let's you deploy the gauntlet as a shield (or just deploy the shield) in front of yourself, or even better if you could deploy it on your tsukumo or another player, and if the monster hits it you unleash a big counter, flying to the shield's location if it was deployed on someone else. Really add that tank energy by letting you help protect someone from a hit, especially if it protects them while they're setting up their big hit and you get your follow up as well.
Not sure if someone already commented on it, but here it is anyways: You can still attack with the Nodachi with your regular attacks while you're charging it. Landing attacks increases the gauge, and releasing your charge while attacking will cancel into the charged slash.
I am using the Mall Staff (main), Katana for combos and Umbrella just for curious, but I think I'm going to play with the staff in the future. Love the mutations!
This game will separate the MH players who play LS for the aesthetic (like me) from those who play it for the mechanics only. The umbrella sounds cool af, but those katana unsheath attacks … I could never get tired of them 🤤
i buyied this game at 80% discount on steam this past christmas, and i love it, why use only one weapon ? i'm using all of them because they are extremely fun to play and i never get tired, unlike MH where, if possible, i'd love to cut the farming totally. It's a shame that EA abandoned this game, the possibility where infinite
Karakuri staff is amazing. A bit daunting at first but once you can string together a few combos to quickly charge up the giga sword, it is very rewarding and makes the game kinda easy as most monsters can only survive 2-3 full combos before they die. I’m moving into the end game content now so I shall see how that statement holds up against the new tier of monsters.
Honestly, all these weapons look amazing. I can totally imagine myself building up gauge to get that satisfying giant sword hit with the Staff, but I also see myself engaging in the hard-hitting rhythmic playstyle with the Maul. Since I also mained bows and bowguns in Monster Hunter seeing how the Bow works in this game makes it seem also really cool to play for part breaking/farming. I am also in LOVE with the Claw that enables me to fly around a monster like the insect glaive, but in a way cooler fashion.
thank you for this i saw the trailer and thought how close this game was to monster hunter and thought that i might just stick to ol reliable LONG SWORD but now you got me wanting to use at least 3 new weapons lol thank you and i cant wait to play this game so glad i pre ordered it, next can you guys a make a video on armor, like if its similar to monster hunter or different in any special way? Again thanks for this weapon tutorial and ilove yalls videos keep going lol
The Katana seems really interesting. I like that it splits into a segemented blade. I was wishing for an explosion type weapon like the gunlance or Switch Axe. I am a Powder Keg at heart afterall unfortunately none of the weapons fills that category. So currently I'm interested in the Katana, Bow, Staff and Canon. I'm least interested in the hammer, the odachi and the claw weapon. Which all seem exactly like their MH counterpart. The umbrella is interesting. I like the counter heavy style, but I don't like the aesthetic. It feels weird to use an umbrella as a weapon.
Visual similarities aside, I actually think that Nodachi plays more like Monster Hunter's Hammer and Maul plays more like MH's Greatsword. In MH, Hammer charges up a big hit while moving around, while Greatsword is locked in place and you have to time button presses to get the level 3 charges for the big damage. There isn't a 100% overlap with either weapon (which is definitely a good thing, if I wanted to play with Monster Hunter weapons, I'd just play Monster Hunter!), but the moment I saw the moveset for Nodachi I immediately felt my love of MH's hammer shine through.
Bow with glider opens its use and damage a lot btw. Use it to hit a hard shot, into a full charge volley to apply arrows, the glide right after to detonate the arrows with the power shot. Extremely high dps that is mobile to dodge and move away while throwing in top dps. Only downside is if you run out of karakuri/thread points, but after one or two volleys, the bosses can be harvested for thread to continue onslaught.
I'm definitely maining that Hand Cannon. Been a bowgun user all through MH Rise, heavy primarily, the cannon looks great! Especially when you can pull out the Spartan Laser attack.
I guess the bladed wagasa is the closest there is to Lance. I really love the 'stand your ground with guards and counter' playstyle of lance I also really like the hit and run playstyle with massive damage hit of great sword, so the nodachi looks interesting
Definitely using the staff have a hard time maining a weapon in monster hunter practically used them all but the staff reminds me of my fav game bloodborne
upset at the lack of weapons i would like at least as many as monster hunter but the potential a creativity here is a lot. surprised they don’t have a “support” or heal type weapon
the katana and staff would be the two weapons. I would mostly use in this game. my weapons in monster hunter is katana, dual sword/dagger and great sword. the staff I can see is based of Monkey King. because that staff can shape shift to other weapons and sizes.
It’s not the insect glaive at all. It plays more like longsword with the parrying and red spirit gauge management. Yes, more so than the actual katana in the game.
If you use the umbrella, there's something to be said about that. Because in a world of beings that shape nature to their whim, you saw hunters and samurai alike being slaughtered and somehow still thought to your self that those people were playing on easy mode because they used things like swords. So, instead of doing that, you stuck some razor blades to an umbrella and called it a day. Your weapon of choice relies on you either having good timing or a lot of patience plus a very thick head, because you will either need knowledge or an effective strategy to avoid concussions to use this thing effectively. Why exactly the person bringing something that can normally barely keep sunrays at bay to a fight is also the person who puts his head on the chopping block more than the people using actual weapons is probably as beyond you as it is beyond anyone else who sees you, however there is no denying that once you get in the zone you become virtually untouchable. Despite being the spiritual predecessor to Marry Poppins, you do seem to have a non-neglectable anger issue, since the feeling you get when seeing your spindance gauge deplete has imbued you with an undying agression toward anything that exists within your direct line of sight and looks remotely like a kemono. Other hunters are persistent, damage aficionados or maybe just calm and collected maksmen and fighters. You however are a hyperactive/-agressive nutjob with an umbrella you absolutely do not possess a license for. You make me proud.
Tip about the nodachi. You can actually ATTACK while charging, and it fills up the meter faster 💀 if you press and hold R2 + light or heavy attack you will do higher damage with the attacks, and connecting them builds the gauge faster so you can combo all the way into your big full meter charge attack Edit 2: I also really love how Wild Hearts basically feels like Toukiden 3
@@chrisjames5372 well every gameplay I've seen I haven't seen people using that function, also it wasn't mentioned in the vidja here, so I thought I'd mention it

Thing about the karakuri staff, you HAVE to land a hit when you morph your weapon for the gauge to charge. Im trying to get as much practice as i can with it. Ngl, its hard to focus of charging while utilizing my karakuri constructs at the same time
Honestly, all I can see from the tutorial is Josh struggling because he hates any longsword and since we can't really change weapons til after the tutorial

the katana and staff would be the two weapons. I would mostly use in this game. my weapons in monster hunter is katana, dual sword/dagger and great sword. the staff I can see is based of Monkey King. because that staff can shape shift to other weapons and sizes.
The umbrella just feels like the insect glaive without the insect and with an umbrella weapon skin
It’s not the insect glaive at all. It plays more like longsword with the parrying and red spirit gauge management. Yes, more so than the actual katana in the game.
I'm really loving the hand cannon. The katana is fun to use also.
im gonna try the claw blade and karakuri katana its looks fun ^^
Maybe after recieving some competition MH will finally add prowler back in!
I think in the staff they are tonfa not dual blades. thats hype for me
I was going to mention the same thing, looks very much like bladed Tonfa. You beat me to it lol.
the bow mechanic is genius. A breakthrough i might say
That's roughly how the bow worked in Tôkiden, except you didn't need to change stance.
switch staff and claws look the most fun, switch staff is just “random bullshit go” and im all for it
The katana or the combo staff are the things I am looking forward to trying.
Yo, why the vid in 360p? TH-cam couldn't handle the power of these weapons.
I think I'm gonna go with the katana for most of the game
Not the 360p😭
Hollow using the claw blade? who could have possibly forseen this?
Maul actually looks like it plays a lot like Dauntless’ hammer
Ahhh the umbrella I love using it cuz its because of the anime from the Anime Kings Avatar
I switched from Mon Hun to FFXIV and had to get used to the concept of building rotations to get to higher DPS attacks.
This feels like an in between.
Sir yaps allot
Why the vid at 360p though?? Hard to tell what’s what when pixels are so large
Maul or staff seem like they're gonna be what I first check out.
Tip about the nodachi. You can actually ATTACK while charging, and it fills up the meter faster 💀 if you press and hold R2 + light or heavy attack you will do higher damage with the attacks, and connecting them builds the gauge faster so you can combo all the way into your big full meter charge attack
Edit 2: I also really love how Wild Hearts basically feels like Toukiden 3
That's basic info mate it literally teaches u it on the dummy
@@chrisjames5372 well every gameplay I've seen I haven't seen people using that function, also it wasn't mentioned in the vidja here, so I thought I'd mention it
@@Happygg6 it's the most basic weapon after the staff it literally takes 2 minutes of playing to figure tho
@@chrisjames5372 you're being... Kind of a dick tbh. It's like your trying to make a problem? There's no reason for you to keep going and going dude.
@@Happygg6 I'm sorry my bluntness and honesty makes you feel that way. I was just saying it sounded funny you saying it like it was a big discovery when anybody who's played games at all figures this out instantly. Because its basically the only thing the weapon does. My 8 year old son figured it out straight away. Just found it weird how you were excited about it that's all
Well, it's no Swagaxe but that staff looks like my cup of tea, that is until I learn the game better and then I'm gonna try the umbrella
Yeah they got the Nodachi but goddamn that Staff got the THICCEST blade stored inside.
I just finished Earthshaker so I havent seen the second half of weaps yet but I do like the burst of Maul and utility of the wagasa.
I am so excited for this game and I really hope we will be getting a pro and noob playthrough.
They already confirmed it
@@mkv2718 did they say when the first episode will come out.
Thing about the karakuri staff, you HAVE to land a hit when you morph your weapon for the gauge to charge. Im trying to get as much practice as i can with it. Ngl, its hard to focus of charging while utilizing my karakuri constructs at the same time
To charge the change staff you have to hit the attack after changing otherwise it doesn't charge
That staff is really overpowered
Damnnn I wish they will add a Spear!!
Just started wildhearts, maul, and I met, and I fell in love
Any fellow gintama fans here? Definitely using that umbrella
Honestly, all I can see from the tutorial is Josh struggling because he hates any longsword and since we can't really change weapons til after the tutorial
for me who cant decide a weapon may choose the 5 in one weapon so i dont run out of versatility
Bonk!
My very first MH game was 3 ultimate, started with Bonk!, so I'll continue with Bonk!
All the weapons look quite interesting though.
I'm definitely using the fustercluck staff
I get you may want people to watch the vid in it’s entirety but I’m sure most would appreciate time stamps for those of us who want to research a specific weapon
That hammer is beautiful. No charging, now short range sadness, just timing and rhythmic brutality. Mmm.
yep, i'm playing vergil with this katana, thank you
It's a bit sad to hear you can't actually choose which form of the Staff you want to use.
I think they need to re explore a game called Soul Sacrifice. That game had monster hunting potential for sure
The Chain Blade, Bow, and Hand Cannon all interest me
This is all the flashy gameplay I want in MHW
My stuff gotta be the bow, the bladed wagasa and the small blade with the hammer thing
Edit: and also karakuri staff
