We own a 2011 Ranger XLT super cab, 4X4, 6 ft bed, tow pkg, etc. I added a K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust, rear air shocks, spray in bed liner, wheels, and had it 2 toned. It’s now silver over red metallic. With 70# of air in the shocks and fully loaded with the cruise set on 75mph, we consistently got 25 mpg on a trip last year coming from the family farm in MT back to our home in north central WA state. The engine is a 4.0 with a 5 spd automatic transmission. This is our 4th Ranger. We’ve been driving Ranger’s since the 80s. I’m sure this will be the last truck we’ll ever buy, as we only use it for work around our property hauling gravel, dirt, top soil and compost. Very Nice!! There are a ton of 90s-2000s Rangers cruising around my town on the daily. People still put them to good use. My best friend works from home so he only drives occasionally, and a random grandpa just gave him a '98! After some work in the shop it runs great. The owner had replaced the original engine at 200,000 miles, now the truck has over 300,000 - and I love riding around in it!
I still daily drive an 87 Ranger 4x2...I get low to mid 20's for fuel economy with mixed city/highway driving....no turbo, it has the 2.9L V6 and 5 speed manual transmission with 3.73 axle ratio. I want to pickup an 80's 4x4 Ranger as well for the winter.
Love my 2021 Ranger Tremor, I’ve owned many Rangers all years, by far the best, sure it’s new and low low miles, time will tell, I have to say my 1996 ranger that I still drive is awesome, though adding a 8.8 4.11 Trac Loc has made the diff on the little 2.3l 5speed it came with. I may swap a Mustang eco-2.3 7speed into the 1996! As for the tremor, only issue that I’m used to from other 4x rangers is the factory tires do rub on turns, a leveling kit will fix it. Love it if they actually had the E-locker for the ranger with the upgraded front axle, I spoke to the company that makes them in Australia and there is no kit available yet!
I have the tremor and you are right about the tires picking up rocks. I do get around 21 mpg on mine (with 7500 miles on it) with the tow package so that was a pleasant surprise. Over all I like mine and was surprised with your choice after your review of it. But I love mine.

Really like these 4th Gen Rangers hence wanted get best edition of the 4th Gen. These trucks are overengineered by Ford. Gen2 - 2.3L TGDI engine based off RS rally car is very, very strong. T6 frame is best in class & used on new Broncos. Can't wait to get my new Ranger Tremor!

Diving Sports TV if you are worried about banging up the bed do like I do and get a BedRug, about $400, that way your entire bed is covered with a synthetic impact resistant rug, all the way up the sides and the bottom, and then put a raised edge model specific plastic liner about $200 to contain liquids and to keep the dirt out of the rug for easy cleaning all you need is a blower for dry dirt and if you get mud or liquids in it just pull the liner out, its not connected only by the shape and hose it out and dry and put back in. Basically the same design as a interior floor liner inside your truck to keep the dirt out your carpet, just dump the dirt out, hose out, dry, and put back in.

@@jacobjeffs3504 I think even though it's a 2024 still supposed to come out next summer. Though with inflation, supply chain issues and possible 1st year bugs to work out might be best to wait a bit/go with the current one.
I appreciate that it's still an option, to allow people to do what they feel is best for them. I have a full Bedrug in mine and I like it more than a spray-in liner for the uses I have.
With today's extremely thin paint, the spray on liner is a must if you actually use the truck as a truck, most people don't use their trucks as trucks so the $500 cost savings I guess is ok to them. I had the bed of my 08 Tundra Rhino Lined the day after I bought it...that was the first truck I'd ever had the bed Rhino Lined...I'll be doing that in the future to other trucks if I ever get another one. My 88 F250 had the plastic drop in liner, I took that thing out several years ago...those things trap dirt between the bed and liner and will destroy your truck bed and you'll never know till its too late.
@@mabelpup8502 yes way. I mostly throw wheels/tires, tool boxes, camping type gear and such in mine for racing events, so the soft material helps them to stay put and it's also great when i jump up and move things around since putting a knee down on it is just like padded carpeting. Also acts like a little sound deadening, so stuff that does move around a little doesnt really bother. I wasnt too worried about it scuffing up the paint underneath either since I have an F-150 so the aluminum bed wont corrode like a steel one might. If i decide later to get a spray-in liner I can still do that, and any scuffs wont really matter since it would be sanded down anyways.
I really like this truck. I almost bought a Lariat version of the Ranger (prior to the Tremor). I ended up buying a full size truck that my wife absolutely loves! I'm considering the new Ranger in the Raptor guise but I'm not sure about that infotainment screen that I keep seeing in all of the videos.
Love that you purchased a legit acreage for off-road testing. As you are probably aware, the TFL crew quickly followed with a ranch. Both situations are money well-spent for your TH-cam channels. However, where your channel could still improve is in regards to the land development. This is traditionally a concept that aligns with the overlander’s ideology. Development videos are gold..
I would absolutely love to see a comparison between this and the Maverick Tremor, just to see how much more capability you get out of a "real" truck. Maybe throw in the Bronco Sport for good measure ;).
I bought the same tires for my 4Runner and I noticed the same thing with gravel...it sticks in the treads super easily. My driveway is gravel and you can see where I pull out everyday by the gravel trail on the pavement!
in the center screen you can change the rear camera to have a delay, that way it will stay on till you hit 5-10 mph. I was doing the same thing with my Ranger, pulling logs, and i used the backup camera in that way haha
I have a 21 fx4, lifted, few toys on it and weekend it off-road. Because it’s a mid size I usually end up with jeeps. Kinda nice since my super duty really can’t go everywhere. All that said I had no idea that was an option. It’s nice to know when the tow strap is tight 😂. Thank you for your comment!
@@rmmcgann when I first got my ranger I read the whole manual and went through every screen/setting in the truck(it's my first new vehicle) and there's tons of stuff that you just wouldn't think of it having. For example, a feature I wouldn't think of was the adaptive cruise control; if it's snowing and the sensor gets blocked, you can disable it and still use normal cruise control.
Until recently I would have never thought that a Ford Ranger would be on my wish list , but it is now ! Ford Ranger Tremor with XLT or Lariat package - yes please
Honestly the lack of cameras and modern features is why I picked the Nissan Frontier Pro-4X over the Ranger Tremor. The Ranger had an amazing ride quality, better than the Frontier, but the quality of life features in the Frontier were so much better. The Frontier was the best mix of on road comfort and quality of life, but the ranger was a close second. No other midsize trucks come close to those two in that regard. The Tacoma is obnoxious in it's ride quality and the Colorado felt overly stiff and lacked the tech of even the Ranger. If all I did was off-road I'd take a Colorado, but like a lot of people I mostly commute, so ride quality was my main concern. I felt like the Frontier gave me the best of both, but I can see why you'd choose the Ranger, especially if your towing a lot. Just get the bed liner next time. :D
A Frontier S King cab 4x4 would have been interesting. See how a basic value packaged truck fares against the fully loaded press vehicles. Especially once equipped with a tire upgrade and a few mods.
Re choice: Not a surprise, because of payload, towing capacity, brakes, 10speed transmission, seating comfort.... that's why I chose the Ranger over the more popular Tacoma in 2021. As for waiting for the next iteration, it looks good and I'm excited about it, but theres nothing killer about it that I can see as compared to current generation. Yes, it has a bigger screen as part of a nicer interior, but I've never thought "if only I had a 15" screen in here".
Congrats to your new truck. Yes, it is a surprise to get a vehicle in it's last production year to a TH-cam channel. But I think it's a cool. And I like the Tremor more than the Raptor. If you order the new one get an XLT with the Tramor package like this one or a FX4. Greetings from Beck's town Bremen, Germany
I think does confirmed that the new ranger will be a 2024 model. So it might be revealed here next year. But I’m really interested in that new ranger. It looks so good. And the Ranger Raptor😍😍😍
But for all the money you saved, now you can upgrade the suspension and tires and more, to your liking. And it'll be one of a kind. I also have a 22 XLT FX4 but a Supercab with 6 ft box. That was not available with a Tremor package.
That is a beautiful truck!!! But how does a Tremor not have a front camera, no bed liner, and no dampened tailgate. Those step sides might get hung up.
I did think you were gonna give the Maverick Tremor a run for it’s money and compare it to the Mav you had, but this’ll be cool too. Came here for the maverick content, waiting on my ‘24 to be built and shipped.
My dad had a 79 Ford Courier pickup(pretty much the Ranger's daddy) as a farm truck. It was very basic, 2wd, slow but stubbornly reliable 4 cylinder engine, but it could pull loaded hay wagons at low speeds, and could get nearly everwhere on the farm. For the big stuff, that's what the tractors were for.
@@wildbill23c But the Courier filled the same space in the line up than the Ranger did(up till the Maverick) as the the small Ford pickup(which was a partner ship with Mazda, though the arrangement may have been different). Daddy=precursor. That's what I meant.
@@ghenry85 The Ranger replaced the Courier as Ford's compact pickup until 2012 in the US, and was brought back as a mid-size to compete with GM, Toyota, and Nissan mid-size trucks. The courier was its own sub-compact Mazda B-Series truck rebadged as a Ford. The Courier production was dropped after the 1982 model year as the compact Ranger debuted in 1983. The Courier name is still used but not in the US, however they should take a look at the global Courier again as an option in the US as a regular cab pickup with no frills.
Great choice, very much unexpected. Would be cool if you could do a direct comparison to a regular fx4 or even a slightly modified one to see the differences the tremor package really brings to the table Edit: also this current generation of ranger is actually the 5th, and I believe it originally came out globally in like 2015 or so
I was about to praise your choice right up till the moment you said you have to sell it back in 10 months. 🤣 Which any other comment about bed liners and what not is pointless now. If I were in a need a work truck to do that kind of work, I might have just bought an F150 XLT 4x4. Btw, I like how you worked in praise for the missed 4R TRD OR. 😂 You keep saying things like that, odds are I will NEVER sell mine. 😏 (it has not crossed my mind to do so even once in the 4 years I have owned it)
Irrelevant, but I would really like to see the Outback and Forester Wilderness (mostly just the outback) in DEEP SNOW, I can’t find any good videos on TH-cam. Especially for the outback for some odd reason. It’s the flagship wagon for them and you can’t find ANY good videos. Just your good videos, but I want more lol! Looking forward to seeing for videos with the new Ranger! I thought about getting one, but idk yet.
Regarding those General Grabber ATX tires, for a year I've had that model on my all-wheel-drive compact SUV (VW Tiguan). I like to explore mountain dirt roads whenever I get a chance, in WA state, and I wanted an all-terrain tire for both traction and resistance to flats especially sidewall cuts. I've been very happy with the General's on-road and off-road. It seems like for a Ranger the only way to improve on them would be with a set of BFGoodrich KO2's. And, yes, I would love to be in a position to buy a Ranger Tremor just like yours. Maybe in a couple years.....
The refresh coming next year looks like it’s going to blow this one out of the water. Tbh even when this gen was new it looked like it was a decade behind other designs.
I seem to be in the minority considering I prefer the look of this one over the new 2023 coming out. I wasn't a fan of the front of the Maverick and I was kind of let down to see they doubled down and made the Ranger look almost exactly like it. 🤷
Spray in bed liner and fender liners should be standard on anything with a bed. The Ranger engine is very strong at 270 hp 310 tq, but the next gen will have to be pretty impressive to compete with the GM twins at 310/390 or 310/430 in the ZR2 should be fun!
Only the Raptor Ranger nxtgen will be better - 390+ HP. I don’t remember the rest other than it will be a V6 as well. Lesser trims should be high 200s to low 300s.
Just came across your channel. Awesome unbiased content. We have a ranger xlt 4x4 and it’s a pretty great truck if terrible gas mileage but man it’s powerful. Looking forward to the 2023! One question, was that an off road scooter I saw and where can I buy one!?
I went in to order a 23 Lariat Tremor today because I don't like the upcoming refresh. The options I want are locked out (the higher-end tech package). I'll just wait and see. Also the cyber orange is now not showing up as a paint color.
After you test it stock for awhile and get bored with that could you possibly add the OEM Performance tune to the motor and let us know what you think vs bone stock ??
I got the 21 ranger XLT fx2, infotainment is really outdated and camera only for reverse is sad. Bed is really thin metal and scratches and dents real easy. I will get the bed liner sprayed soon. Having driven f150s I like the Rangers smaller footprint for parking and turn radius. Backseat has good room for most sized people too. Maverick is a city truck, Ranger checks all the boxes. My only regret is not getting the 4x4.
Are you planning on testing some of fords accessories they sell for the ranger. I’m interested in the “power pack” they sell for the ecu from ford. Thanks!
One of the first upgrades you should do on the Tremor is to install HID forward lighting; Ford Halogen lighting is one of the worse and considering where your test site is located auxiliary lights are a serious must. Amazing that Ford continues to use obsolete headlamps on so many of their vehicles.
I find it curious why America always or nearly always refer to the current ranger as the European design or version when the car was mostly an Australian developed vehicle the European input was very little. I believe South Africa had more input than Europe. I have a 2021 Wildtrak X 2.0 bi turbo with 213hp and 368ft lb. torque 10speed. It may be a ten year old vehicle but it is still the best in class.
Great video where is this located this property nobody has this ability to drive and place like that this guy must have some good money to have property like that where was the shot this location
This channel, together with TFL and Savage Geese are amongst the top genuine unbiased vehicle reviewers on the web. Top notch.
I think this ranger should be put on test with tfl on their new off road course i.e,. Tumbleweed ranch!

I wasnt too worried about it scuffing up the paint underneath either since I have an F-150 so the aluminum bed wont corrode like a steel one might. If i decide later to get a spray-in liner I can still do that, and any scuffs wont really matter since it would be sanded down anyways.
Those Grabber ATXs are phenomenal tires. They’re my top pick for an overlanding rig.
Just never follow a truck on the highway with them or you’re likely to lose a windshield.
Dragging a dead tree looks like so much fun to do in a truck! It’s the little things…
Awesome, I've had my 21 ranger tremor xlt for almost a year and it's solid
As someone who just got their 2022 Ranger Tremor.. I am looking forward to this series!! Subscribed.
I have a 21 Tremor XLT in this exact color. I love it dearly. Congrats!
I'd love some more content on upkeeping the test course! It's great to see the behind the scenes
Until recently I would have never thought that a Ford Ranger would be on my wish list , but it is now ! Ford Ranger Tremor with XLT or Lariat package - yes please
Did the same and got a 22 Ranger Tremor. Last year for such a well made machine.
Nice video. Looks like you have a new employee helping clear the land. The truck is nice, great job Ford.
my favorite channel....thanks for all these ranger videos youve produced
I'm loving my bare bones '19 Ranger. More than I would a Bronco....I've actually got room for gear on fishing trips!!
A Frontier S King cab 4x4 would have been interesting. See how a basic value packaged truck fares against the fully loaded press vehicles. Especially once equipped with a tire upgrade and a few mods.
Congrats you have been selected among our shortlisted winners, Contact the number below 👇 the profile
I love in South America part-time and I’ve seen the Ranger Raptor and it’s amazing.
I think does confirmed that the new ranger will be a 2024 model. So it might be revealed here next year. But I’m really interested in that new ranger. It looks so good. And the Ranger Raptor😍😍😍
Looking forward to see the Chevy Trail Boss and the new Ranger Tremor vids over the next several months.
I have a 22 XLT FX4 and I love it, kind of wished I went the tremor route a little.
It's a truck, like the ones men once drove possibly?
I still don't get it why people would get a tremor on maverick. Get a body on frame if you are serious off-roading.
I did think you were gonna give the Maverick Tremor a run for it’s money and compare it to the Mav you had, but this’ll be cool too. Came here for the maverick content, waiting on my ‘24 to be built and shipped.
We still haven’t had a Maverick Tremor yet. Ford hasn’t sent one. ☝️
Ranger's daddy? Umm the Courier was smaller than a Ranger.
@@wildbill23c But the Courier filled the same space in the line up than the Ranger did(up till the Maverick) as the the small Ford pickup(which was a partner ship with Mazda, though the arrangement may have been different).
Daddy=precursor. That's what I meant.
@@wildbill23c Thanks for the history lesson. And I agree with you
I want that hybrid version to come to SWEDEN. People would love it!
I ordered my ford ranger tremor in December picked up the end of April I ordered hot pepper red, also forgot the spray in bed liner so far love it
Good Morning, Ryan... Congrats on the Purchase!!
Now on to the video..
Thanks for commenting on the delicate nature of the maverick. I need a heavier vehicle where I live so a maverick would not do well.
Great choice, very much unexpected. Would be cool if you could do a direct comparison to a regular fx4 or even a slightly modified one to see the differences the tremor package really brings to the table
Edit: also this current generation of ranger is actually the 5th, and I believe it originally came out globally in like 2015 or so
I was about to praise your choice right up till the moment you said you have to sell it back in 10 months. 😏 (it has not crossed my mind to do so even once in the 4 years I have owned it)
Wow! If you are going to unload lots of rocks I have found it is much better to park 3 feet away rather than 20 feet away. Just an idea.
I love the exterior of the Ranger and the Tremor looks aggressive!
The interior though looks like the designers just vomited buttons everywhere IMO.
Ryan I absolutely love your channel, it's my go to channel for car reviews!
Congratulations on the ford ranger, great truck very capable
I remember the days a v8 barely put out 270hp…things sure have come a long way!
you could always just get an aftermarket bed liner. would probably be more expensive than the factory option but it’s better than nothing.
Bedrug - you can get the full set that includes the sides or just the bottom section - I have a full set on my Tundra - i love them.
General Grabber AT and “really aggressive” haha. I think if reserve that statement for M/Ts
I love the rangers, I just wish I could get a 6.5fr bed with the full 4 door. Yeah it’s be a larger truck but it should atleast be an option
See you at the next trade in
Congrats you have been selected among our shortlisted winners, Contact the number below 👇 the my profile
A Line-x or similar aftermarket spray-in bed liner is better than factory and usually can be found cheaper
Thanks for posting this! Can I please get the info on the bed rails model/brand installed on this truck?
I would really like to see a review between. The tremor and the 23 Colorado Zr2 with a comparison off-road.
Great vid as always, love the looks of the Tremor!
Just came across your channel. Awesome unbiased content.
We have a ranger xlt 4x4 and it’s a pretty great truck if terrible gas mileage but man it’s powerful. Looking forward to the 2023!
One question, was that an off road scooter I saw and where can I buy one!?
We just posted a review of it today! th-cam.com/video/G7tlo_iQx0s/w-d-xo.html
are these easier to get than the mavericks? I need the towing capacity anyway so maybe it's not so bad to splurge....
Much easier.
Been watching all your videos for over a year. Sorry I didn’t subscribe sooner!
I went in to order a 23 Lariat Tremor today because I don't like the upcoming refresh. The options I want are locked out (the higher-end tech package). I'll just wait and see. Also the cyber orange is now not showing up as a paint color.
Thanks! Good review..
The rear camera should stay on after it's put in reverse...it stays on until a certain speed
I like your bed rack system
So the Maverick is the new Ranger, the Ranger is the new F150, and the F150 is still the GOAT. And Merrells are still cool af.
Are you planning on testing some of fords accessories they sell for the ranger. I’m interested in the “power pack” they sell for the ecu from ford. Thanks!
I would definitely go get the ford tune for the ecoboost
Hell ya. This should dominate.
Next move for ford... is the maverick raptor..🤪
"....with something a bit more capable." That's an understatement. LOL
So so glad you got that instead of a toyota
Great review. Can't wait for the next gen. This version has an extremely dated front end.
Super excited about that new zr2
Enjoyed this content
Its cool but you should have got the lariat. Worth the money. I got the lariat and dont regret it
Wait, it's possible to reduce the mavericks towing and payload? At what point does my Accord out haul the thing?
