- Thanks for joining me for this casual, informal knit and chat session! Let's catch up over some knitting and your favorite beverage. I am counting down the days until becoming a mom, and wanted to share a bit of the pregnancy journey and baby knitting process with you - from some first-time-mom worries and pregnancy/maternity processes in Northern Norway to cravings and choosing what to knit for baby.

I'm due with my first baby in the beginning of August, and I know exactly what you mean. What helps me is reminding myself that this stage of life is so temporary. It will change soon enough. Remember to give yourself some well deserved love and grace. You are doing amazing, your body is doing amazing, and you will be a great mom. You already are! And you are not alone ❤
Thank you! I'm trying to be a bit more patient with myself (and I know I'll need it once she's here too!) All the best for the rest of your pregnancy and for your baby in August too
Best wishes for you and the delivery! You will make a great mom!
Thank you so much!
All the best for the final stretch of pregnancy! A friend of mine watched a documentary called Babies (I think she said it was on Netflix) when she was pregnant and she said it helped to alleviate some of her feelings that she felt like she would do everything wrong and was just overwhelmed with information. I follows four babies in California, tokyo, namibia and Mongolia for the first year of their life and the very different environments and approaches to parenting - and at the end of it all the babies are happy and healthy. That dress is going to be gorgeous, perfect colour for a baby girl 💜
I've seen that documentary forever ago! It may be time to go and rewatch it. I'm so excited to put her in all of her handknits - the only annoying thing about this dress is I have to wait a year for it to fit her :)
A delightful interlude. Thx for sharing.
I'm glad you liked it! :)
Parenting is hard, but you obviously care so much that you’ll be great! There will be mistakes, but there will be more correct choices. Just enjoy the ride!!
Thank you so much! I think talking it out and expressing my concerns (which my husband and I try to do regularly) really helps too :)
I think body image issues may be more pronounced for those of us who grew up in a culture where small and thin were mandatory: figure skating, gymnastics, dance, etc. It is particularly jarring when the change is sudden as in pregnancy...not so much when it occurs slowly as in old age (my experience!). Hang in there. If you think you're tired now, just wait until baby girl arrives. You'll look back with wistful longing at the 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Chin up - you're sensible and you'll be great.
That definitely checks out - I did both figure skating and ballet when I was younger (but also had a metabolism that kept me tiny no matter how much I ate) and now that certainly isn't the case. I know different things work for different people, but I've realized it's helped me to try and make a healthy diet and exercise plan for after pregnancy so I can feel like I'm making moves to get back to a place where I feel like myself again :)
Samantha you look beautiful. All will be well. Best wishes
Thank you so much!
Count me in I subscribed right away. How cute are you with your little baby belly ? The cutiest. Varma hälsningar från Norrland - Sverige.🦋👶🦋
Aww thank you! Kevin is from Stockholm and plans on speaking Swedish to baby, so I'm trying to learn a bit too :)
Your child is being born in July: you can put her outside immediately. My son was born in July and I had him outside in a carriage with a net cover to protect against insects as soon as we came home from the hospital.
That's so good to hear! We already have a little sun hat for her and will put her in the shade, but I'm so looking forward to getting fresh air during postpartum
I understand you very well. What helped me a lot is following book:
How Not to Be a Perfect Mother by Libby Purves
I highly recommend it. It is the best thing against your (quite normal) anxieties.
And acupuncture which helped me against morning sickness.
I have a wonderful loving daughter.
I wish you love and patience.
Best regards from 🇨🇭
Thanks for the recommendation and the well wishes! I'll definitely check it out.
