As someone who doesn’t have a baby, but are starting to knit for other babies, thank you for this! It’s super useful to know what parents actually find practical
Loved watching this video. I loved kniting for my daughter so much, but when I was pregnant I didnt want to know what we were expecting so many of ma knits where white, beige or blue, and I ended up just like you regretting not knitting more colorful stuff. Now she is almost 2 and I am trying to make a little colorful knitwear wardrobe for her, I find it so much more fun as well.
It’s a lot of fun knitting in colours 😍 I’m planning a toddler video in my head as well, because there’s so many good knits in her wardrobe at the moment
This video was so incredibly helpful! Someone very dear to me is expecting and I want the gifted knits I give her to be practical above all else, so thank you for your valuable input! 😊
Wowww that dog wall hanging/blanket is absolutely stunning!!!! Thank you for the recommendations, I have just moved to a very cold winter climate (which I am not used to) - these hints have been great
Hi, that was such a useful video for me. I have no children, but love to knit for new babies from my friends, and I never know whether what I'm knitting is practical or not 😄 I have knit some little cardigans that seemed quite good.
I'm expecting my first and really appreciated this! Although I live in a much warmer place than you, you've given me some great ideas for dressing my winter baby. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Ok, so it seems that I've found a knitting podcaster who has something valuable to say, who gets to the point, and is easy to listen to - that's you! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I'd love to knit baby knits in lace or in more than one colour. Do you have any "how-to" videos for this? I know other people do, but I generally struggle to listen to American accents or people talking with upward inflections or blabbering on about unimportant things. You're different from that and I'd love to learn from you. :) Thanks again for your posts.
Oh Thank you so much for your kind words! I don’t have any how to videos for those, I’m afraid. But if you’re a visual learned I’d recommend checking out the videos from Kimmie Munkholm! They’re all in danish, but they’re really well made and easy to follow just by watching 🩷 I hope to make a few how to videos with my own favourite techniques, but everything takes so much longer to plan and film with a one year old 😅
It was interesting to see all the babyknits 🥰 You talked about the ribbed pants in the new Sandnes release, I found out when I planned to buy a booklet from a new release (for bigger kids though) that they only sell the patterns as single patterns now instead of a complete booklet. So you can probably get just one pattern now instead of the whole booklet 😄
Yes that is so helpfull! They released that option after I filmed the video, which is kinda funny. But I’ll totally start buying single patterns from Sandnes now.
Takk for nyttig video!
Can you please tell me how you Iron in those tags?? Because a lot of the things I make cannot be ironed according to the wooltags... and I really love this idea!!!
I buy tags that’s specificly for this 😍 They’re usually used as name tags for kids in kindergarden/school. I just order them with different text. They come with a small sheet of what’s basically baking paper/parchment paper that you use inbetween the lable and the fabric. If you want to have a look I order them from navnelapper.no ❤️ they’re incredibly handy!
Hey Stine- watching from the US and am working on knitting up some staple pieces for a new girl coming in Feb 2025. Wondering if you would mind sharing the blue pattern for pants -enkel barnehagebukse. I have purchased the pattern and am working on Google Translating it.
In Norway/Scandinavia it’s totally normal for babies and toddlers to nap outside! They do so in their strollers, dressed weather appropriate - and we have baby monitors 🥰 We always use the harness, and I watch the stroller as well. In day care there’s always an adult keeping watch while the kids nap. They sleep a lot better outside, and longer. But usually they won’t sleep outside if it’s colder than -10 Celsius. Probably because of the fresh air. My kid napped in a moonboon swing until aprox 5-6 months, just because she hated the stroller until then. But since then she’s taken her naps outside and it’s really nice. So much easier to get them to sleep as well, since I’m able to rock the stroller. A long answer! But I do understand it might sound strange.
@ Thank you for your kind response! I was born in the Caribbean where people who could afford it would have fur stoles or jacket professionally stored in refrigerated lockers. these would be withdrawn and used the few days when temperatures would drop below 18 or 20 degrees. As a child I remember people covering their mouths and noses when they first stepped outdoors in the evening assuming that the transition to "cooler" temperatures or "evening mist" had to be done carefully. Can you believe it? Human's ability to adapt is a marvel. Oh, and I have been to Norway and found people to be fabulously healthy and fit, never afraid of the weather and ready for anything. My soon to be born grandchild will also nap outside (in southern California)

Hi! I’m happy to help you understand the Norwegian 🙌🏽 you can DM me on Instagram with any questions (I’m called stinefriis on IG)
"sleeping outside"!? Dear me! Why? Isn't that dangerous?
