Mine was also stored in the office. I had an asthma attack while running the mile in gym because they were cutting the lawn and I'm allergic to grass. I had to have another student try and drag me to the other end of the school, because the gym teacher couldn't be bothered to help a child gasping for air.
      Good times.

Just a tip for everyone out there. If you need to use the bathroom and a teacher tells you no. Just go, they legally cannot stop you and if they try to punish you for it talk to your parents, the principal, and the school board. And if none of them will do anything take it to the news and put the school on blast. They'll change their tone real fast.

Looks like I found the "My Mom was a Badass" group. 😎 Similar story here. That rule only flew one time for me. Did a little bit of malicious compliance of my own. Mrs. D (fake name) wouldn't let me leave the room once I went in, even if it was still during our 5min break. Which I did regularly because it was easier to go to her classroom and drop off my books and then go to the bathroom, than to take them with me. That rule lasted roughly a week of me holding it throughout her entire class every day. Long story short, by the end of the week, we found out that I'd gotten a bladder infection because of this. When I told mom why I was doing that, she was so livid! Next day of school Mom went to "chat" with Mrs.D before classes started. I can't remember what was said (it was too long ago) but I remember that mom was loud enough to hear her out in the hallway. Teacher never had a problem with me going to the bathroom again.

She had issues with a certain teacher who would take her inhaler away during class, so she went to the office and asked to call home and they told her no. When her and her brother got off the bus she was white as a sheet with black circles around her eyes and I was pissed. After I took her to the hospital I went to the school and went off on all the office staff. I pulled her out of school for the rest of the year and homeschooled her. I am amused by the story of the nasty, arrogant teacher and am reminded of the WORST teacher that I ever had in 23 years of formal education. This was in a small, mostly middle-class city in Michigan and the woman was a SUBSTITUTE teacher for heaven sakes, just a nasty person and had a total disdain for students. We were good respectful kids, but she told us that we knew NOTHING and none of us would ever amount to anything. She was, as a matter of fact, the mayor of the city and we were in the final semester of our senior year .... and about to graduate and could soon vote. She was within a year of needing to seek re-election plus was president of the state Municipal League. She lost that election by 7 votes, couldn't remain "Madam President". I and ALL of my former classmates had voted against her, and ..... much later I represented her husband in a divorce action and was delighted to get him more of the marital assets than he typically would. I am now 73 years old .....

It is messed up that teachers think that using the bathroom disrupts the class. Yeah, there are students who use it to skip class. But, many teachers have denied students bathroom breaks because they either didn’t like the kids or the kids used it often. As if some kids didn’t have small bladders. One time, a kid wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom at all and a teacher blew up at them for even asking. Welp, that kid ended up in the hospital for kidney infection and now has issues with their bladder.
Denying a kid a bathroom break at school is child abuse. If teachers are allowed to go whenever, so should students.

When I was in second grade, I tried to ask to use the bathroom. Teacher said it was only half an hour until lunch and I could wait. I just went ahead and peed. Last time a teacher in that school refused to let me go to the bathroom! Only time I ever had an issue again was at the USPS when working on a letter sorting machine. We would be in three person rotation so someone would have had to sit in my seat. I let the manager know I needed to use the bathroom. He said I should "train" my needs to coincide with breaks and lunch. I told him that would not make the other two people in my group happy when they had to sit in my pee. He let me go but demanded I bring in a doctor's note. I asked my doc about it and he gave me a letter saying I should be let to use the bathroom up to ten times an eight hour shift. LOL Plus I gave them the bill for the visit since they demanded a doctor's note.

All the teachers thought I was ditching to meet friends but I just couldn't hold it more than an hour so it was like clockwork since I drank so much water. No one put two and two together that I was refilling my water bottle as fast as I was drinking it plus at the time my parents refused to believe my food intolerances so lots more bathroom trips. I just kept walking out when the teachers said no and let my parents deal with the fallout. Once it became a problem at jobs they demanded the doctor's note. They couldn't do anything about that :D

I get why kids hide in the bathroom as I had the bullying to warrant it, teacher and student alike. But many kids wound up with problems like that. Usually two or three per year in each grade (small school... 20-30 kids in class, so roughly 10% ) ended up bathroom related illness due to not being allowed to go.
But more often than not, kids just need to pee. So let them go.

In my last year of high school I had an art class and for whatever reason the teacher left. We ended up with a new teacher who laminated 2 bathroom passes for her own classes, if we ever needed to go, and just return them upon coming back. “Cause you guys aren’t animals” is what she told us. While she could be a bit unpleasant sometimes, we all loved her for that. She felt it was inhumane that we had to wait for in between classes and during lunch just to go. I mean if nature calls, sometimes you gotta answer ☎️
If anyone recognizes this story I did write it under another video. That part of the story just reminded me of that and I wanted to tell it again. Hope it’s OK y’all lol 😁

A no bathroom policy is cruel. I had a classmate who went up to the teacher and told her he has a bladder infection and needed to frequently use the restroom. She told him no problem and he was relieved. She was honestly horrified when he said other teachers got upset with him for needing the restroom more frequently because of a medical reason and went to complain for the student.

The Ms. Mack story: I had bathroom issues as a kid and as such had a Dr note every year that said I could go to the bathroom whenever I needed to. And every year it was a battle with teachers to not ignore this note. My fourth grade teacher tried to keep kids after school for ten minutes because we owed her time for going to the bathroom. My senior year of highschool my choir teacher, the second time I just went to the bathroom, despite his no more than two kids out at a time rule, he screamed at me when I returned that he didn't care if I wet myself, I was NOT ALLOWED to leave the band room without his approval. I said F you to him and went to the principal's office to inform him of what happened. Needless to say I got two hours detention for swearing and was moved to a different class for the rest of the year to not have to stay with the Napoleonic dictator of the band room.
Kids are less able to control their bodily functions then adults because everything is still growing and adjusting. I hate public schools with a passion (for more than this issue but this was a big one), and my kids' experiences have not improved this longstanding hatred of public education and power tripping teachers.

@@marjoriejohnston4905 My 6th grade teacher tried to groom me. We had an escaped bank robber from Texas (I grew up in Alaska) as a sub in 8th grade for about a month until he was arrested at lunch time by police and state troopers. My junior year English teacher told me that the religion my family and I (at that time) was a cult and took it upon herself to send home hate filled articles about it for me to read outside of school. In sophomore year I tried to stand up to a clique of bullies and the teacher, who tried to be "besties" with the cool kids (the bullies) chose to kick me out of class for causing a scene and being disruptive.
My daughter was bullied by her kindergarten teacher and the teacher's daughter, has been ignored or told to just go someplace else when she has brought her being bullied by other kids to teacher/staff attention. My son goes to a developmental day program under the umbrella of the local school district and he has come home with horribly bruised feet, bruises on his chest and groin area, his coat stolen with no effort to find it, and is constantly being exposed to his allergens while at school, often coming home with rashes and breakouts of itchy bumps all over his body that benadryl barely calms down. I've contacted those in charge in both my kids' cases and jack all has been done about it.
It is wonderful when kids have positive experiences in school, whether that be alternative, private, or public. That unfortunately wasn't the case for myself and my kids (I could include my mom's horrible experiences as well but this is long enough).

The out of gas story reminded me of a similar experience. Roommate's car wouldn't start. He had a friend working on it who didn't have a glimmer of a clue. I joked that maybe the tires were out of air, at which point the clueless clown started to check them. That confirmed all I needed to know and I took over. With a car that won't start, the order of troubleshooting is ignition, then fuel, then compression. Pull a spark plug wire put the end near a ground, and had room-mate turn the engine over. Ow! and a fat spark. Ok, ignition good. Went to the fuel system and first checked for gas, but the fuel gauge didn't work. I once borrowed a car with a similar problem and to check, I pulled the gas cap and we rocked the car listening for the sound of gas splashing about in the tank. Nothing. The car had simply run out of gas as it was pulled into the driveway.
Another troubleshooting story. had a time when my car wouldn't start. No ignition. Checked the ignition module inside the distributor and it passed the checks in the shop manual's troubleshooting section. ECU? Bad output transistor? I pulled the ECU, removed the cover to inspect it, and it was a thing of beauty. It was aerospace quality, possibly higher. Not a molecule of flux on the board, and all the solder joints looked perfect. No engineering changes/rework. I didn't even want to replace the $2 transistor as my rework wouldn't be as pretty. Replaced the ignition module and it fixed the problem.
The shotgun approach, replacing things willy nilly, is the absolute worst way to try and fi a car.

So one day, over the class discord, we decided to have a "strike". From that day forward, no one in 3rd Period Science spoke a single word. She would repeatedly ask us to answer questions, but we would just stare at her, silent. The few times she was out and we had a sub, we would chatter normally, and when she found out that we would talk for the subs, she was PISSED. When word got out to the rest of the classes, people were talking about the "Protest of Utter Silenceness" for months.

so my family has a genetic issue where basically it results in having no bladder control, if we need to go, we go. Well my mom, in high school, always needed to pee in the class after lunch. One day the teacher has had enough and freaks out at her, telling her that no she cant go to the bathroom and she needs to start going before class. My mom was close to tears because she never needed to go before the class, only about thirty minutes into the class. So five minutes later she raises her hand and stresses that she REALLY needs to go, and and he tells her no, there's only twenty more minutes of class and she can hold it, which of course SHE CANT. The class came to a halt ten minutes later when moms soft sobbing became audible, she, a 17 year old girl, had peed her pants because she'd reached a full bladder and had lost all control.
I don't know what happened after but when I ended up with the same condition she always made a personal stop to meet my teachers every year and explain to them in detail and with a doctors note about the condition and the lengths of insane she was willing to go to if I ever peed myself because a teacher refused me the right to the bathroom.

The fuel pump story got me. When I was a teenager my dad did all the work on my cars. He was a "shade tree mechanic" not a trained one. One of my cars was having trouble running, my Dad decided it was the fuel pump and replaced it. The car still didn't run. Turns out it was the fuel filter. Fuel filters are a lot cheaper than fuel pumps, and yes, I had to pay at least for the parts when my Dad fixed my cars. Never made that mistake again, always insisted mechanics replace the fuel filter and try the car before replacing the fuel pump.

When I was in 7th grade I was finally officially diagnosed with a mild form of asthma and given an inhaler. If I forgot it somewhere my teacher would call to the office to send an aide or assistant of some sort to go to the area and get my inhaler and remind me to be more careful. My school took my medical problems very seriously which I am lucky for. I have a cousin from my dad's side that is actually like my step cousin or something any he and his twin were both born with asthma and recently my cousin who is 23 had a severe asthma attack, he was hospitalized, on life support for 14 days and then sadly passed away surrounded by his siblings, niece and nephew, aunt and cousins. Having problems like this are horrible and that teacher deserved so much worse, but I think that my grief might be influencing my opinion. I was able to be more responsible as I got more used to having to use the inhaler but from then on, I advocated for anyone having a medical issue. In 5th grade a boy in my class went to the nurse with a headache and it started him on a journey of having brain surgery and relearning things we take for granted. He now partakes in Special Olympics which was a big thing at our middle school only a few months after everything happened in 5th. He was such a sweet boy and is now an amazing guy in his late 20s.

In high school, I had a teacher come in for one semester of black and white figure drawing. I am on the spectrum and had blanket permission to leave class when I was getting overwhelmed, after which I always came right back. I usually only was gone for five minutes or less. First session with this teacher, I informed her of my accommodation. She promptly informed the entire class that if I had to step out, everyone’s grade for the day would go down. Obviously I felt like I couldn’t leave after that. I stuck it out, but was miserable the entire time, and because she couldn’t be bothered to do more than hand out a packet to copy, never mind checking up on her students, I fell further and further behind until she noticed on her last week how far behind I was, she had me jump ahead to the end of the packet so she could say I completed her course.

Teachers and asthma are apparently mortal enemies. I had not one but TWO separate PE teachers KNOWINGLY cause me to have asthma attacks, even though they both knew that my inhaler was in need of a refill. The first one tried to claim I was faking it and forced me to run a full mile, actually running BEHIND ME and yelling whenever I would try to slow down. Result that time: Asthma attack that had me in bed the next 3 days.
Second PE teacher, he actually had never made me run before, but the DAY I told him my inhaler was empty he basically said, "You still have to run. No exceptions." The result THAT time: I full on fainted due to being unable to breathe, and I had to be told later that when my friends left to go get my sister, the nurse and the principal he actually attempted to STOP THEM because he was so sure I was faking. Neither time did they get in any form of trouble.

As someone who has has similarly bad teachers in the past those parents should have had the teachers arrested. The first was a case of psychological abuse and the second was straight up child endangerment. As a child myself I had autism and really bad asthma. One day after gym it got so bad I pulled out my inhaler in the middle of special ED to take it. Before I could even inhale the teacher yanked it out of my hand accused me of faking an attack to be disruptive and ordered me to the principles office. I begged her to give it back but she just threatened to call school security if I didn't obey. I never even made it to the office I passed out halfway there in a deserted hallway. If I hadn't been found by a random kid skipping class I probably would have died. I spent half a month in the hospital and suffered permanent lung damage. The teacher got away with it too. She claimed I was being disruptive and rude so I was sent to the office and as for my inhaler I "accidentally" left it behind. As none of the other kids in that class was mentally competent and it was the word of a teacher vs. a retard the school refused to believe me and Mrs. Flowers got away with it. She was a crappy teacher and took out her hatred of her job on the kids she was supposed to help. She was always abusing her power in cruel petty ways. When no one else was around she'd call the kids retards and other slurs, she'd pinch kids if they cried and one day she randomly started screaming at me and accusing me of being disrespectful because I didn't call her Ma'am. I wasn't Southern and she'd never required it before so I was confused and once again ended up sent to the office.
