    Nice! These new axles look beautiful on screen! I can only imagine how awesome they look in person! My kit should arrive tomorrow (hopefully) so I can see the axles up close! Looking forward to watching Part 2.

      These axles are great. Really solid, reinforced and hefty and great quality plastic. I dig that they added those brass tubes as well.

      Just saw two busted ones on Saturday. They don't look too good to me

    I've been out of rc crawling for awhile, this kit brought me back. As many crawlers that I've had, comp as well as scale, this will actually be my first kit build. Mine got delivered today, waiting to get off of work. I've seen the issues on rcc as well, hopefully it's not every kit. Great video.

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, so far it's a good kit. Not every kit has issues, and I seem to be lucky so far... at least with the axles and transmission. My body does have some less than ideal cutting in some areas, but that's it so far.

    I really like how they've done a Ford/Toyota style 3rd member instead of the standard drop in gear style. Nice setup 👍

      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's cool how they set this axle up for sure. I really like the quality of these axles too. A new standard for plastic axles I feel. Can't wait to see them come out with Straight versions.

    Nice. This chassis would look good with the mst Land Rover body on it.

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That land rover body would look good on anything. This rig is going to be aggressively driven though, so I'll need to keep it with high clearance bodies.

    Can you hear the brass in the rear axle? When I lightly shake the rear axle I can hear the brass moving. The front is dead silent. Thank you in advance for your time. Cheers

      I don't remember anything shaking around, but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention?

  • @Esteb858

    Curious if those open bearings that hold the spool diff should get some grease too? I’m guessing the directions don’t mention that but it would seem like a good idea.

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They've already got some oil lubrication which is much thinner and free moving than grease for less drag on the bearings.

    How would you know if you need to use the shims?

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just need to check the gear mesh and make sure that they are in optimal contact with each other. Make sure it's not binding from being too tight, and make sure it's not going to slip from lack of contact from being too far away.

    Hey, quick question. I'm stumped. Regarding the wheel shafts. My wheel nuts that came in my kit will not screw on the shafts all the way. They thread no problem then spin a couple turns then dead stop. I ordered a set of 5mm non flanged wheel nuts part number vps08335 per manual thinking maybe they gave me the wrong wheel nuts but same thing. Is it possible they gave me the wrong sized wheel shafts? Grrrrr!

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is very odd! First things first. The Wheel hexes... are they correctly all the way next to the portal cover? I just want to make sure your shaft is in correctly first. Next question, are you using the supplied tool (nut driver attachment) to turn the wheel nuts? If you're not, is it possible that you are bottoming out the shaft on your nut driver? While VP did have some issues when these were initially released, the issues should have been worked out by now. If the first 2 things I asked ok, then I'd contact VP. I have a strong feeling maybe you're not using the supplied nut driver attachment? See the tool here... th-cam.com/video/85jWjCf57wo/w-d-xo.html

      @@RevolutionX Appreciate the input. The install is correct. Wheel hexes are all the way next to the portals. I am also using that driver adapter. So odd, definitely not rocket science lol.What were the issues VP had you mentioned? I purchased my kit day one. Just now getting around to building it. Thanks again.

    A hard core swing and a miss. They took all the Vanquish out of it.
    The trans is cool, but besides that, it's a nope. Mine is for sale. Saw two with busted axles on Saturday. By the time I replace those, I could have bought a pro.

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually prefer plastic axles in general. I haven't finished or run mine yet, so we'll see. I have a few friends that have run theirs with no issue so far. Mind sharing what part of the axles broke and what caused it? The axles seem pretty beefy for plastic axles to me, and I haven't broken any other plastic axles from other manufacturers that have plastic of lesser quality. I do live in a comparatively warm climate though, so I wonder if that has anything to do with the longevity I've had with all my rigs in regards to plastic parts. It could also be driving style differences as well, as I rely more on finesse rather than throttling through most obstacles.

    • @brianellison3525
      @brianellison3525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RevolutionX one took a two foot fall, landed on it's front left wheel and snapped the lower steering knuckle.
      The other one was being an idiot in the parking lot playing with the two speed, and whiskey throttled right into an awning pole. Again, the steering knuckle.
      By the time they replace the axles, they could have had a pro

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianellison3525 The 2 foot fall is unfortunate, I wonder how this will all shake out. I've tumbled my Enduro Sendero worse numerous times, and I'm still on original axles and c-hubs. Knuckles are SSD Brass though. In-hand, I see no reason why the Phoenix axles should be any weaker unless they're too rigid to the point where there is nothing to give/flex upon impact. Time will tell I guess.

    • @brianellison3525
      @brianellison3525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RevolutionX to be fair, I generally don't wheel on concrete. This was a hobby expo, on a portable rock crawl surface with straight drops on the side. No tumble, just straight down.
      My comp. Truggy took a fall off the top and bent my steel bumper.
      It was crowded, and some newbies were being rowdy, the VS4 did get pushed off, but still, accident or not, oh well. Like I said, I bought one, I built it, it's smooth, but I'm leary and don't see an upgrade path that doesn't build a pro or an ultra.
      The trans is cool, if they offer it as a stand alone I might consider it, but the rest isn't worth it. I'm selling while it's still pretty

    • @RevolutionX
      @RevolutionX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brianellison3525 Hey well I appreciate your opinion on it! Everyone values different things and builds up their trucks differently which is a beautiful thing! For me personally, I don't plan to do much in the way of upgrades past electronics and suspension tuning. It's definitely a heavier rig than I'm used to, so I'm not going to go crazy trying to do too much like I do with my other rigs.
