I need that tool for building links and turnbuckles.... I have watched a few videos on this rig, and i like the plastic housings, like the Vanquish transmission and chassis setup, the there is a lot to like about the Vanquish rigs. Not sure what to think about the shocks though. For the price, and given the quality of most of their parts and products, I just can't imagine not getting top quality shocks with one of the VS4-10 kits... If the only real drawback is the shocks, I might be able.to get past that and later add some different tires and shocks to get it to where I'd want it... we have 5 Axial trucks in the house , and I can't decide if the next build will be based on an Axial, Element, or this Phoenix kit. Leaning towards a Gatekeeper RTR and either an Axial or Element raw builders kit...
Got the Scx10ii raw kit for Xmas from the wife and built me a Superlite with the carbon fiber frame and gave it the Military look. Just did the SOA and the Dsm recovery system, thanks Joe for all the good advice !!
Wow looks awesome dude, I want one of these when I first seen it. But I just got that new early bronco, so I got a wait a while. Appreciate you sharing, looks like a awesome kit can’t wait to see running video I will watch for
I like the blue! Looks awesome! Been sharing your links with people on Instagram where I got my Amazon3 gear with dig! Them shocks were disappointing for sure. Waiting on running video!
The orientation of the shock towers is so you can access the top shock screws thought the small access holes in the molded inner fenders. If you turn them around with the body post holes to the rear, you'll have to remove the inner fenders to access the top shock screws. I guess you could drill new holes in the fronts of the inner fenders and access them that way. Love your videos BTW.
You had the shock towers correct the first time. They’re flipped on this truck so that the upper shock screw can be accessed from the rear without taking the inner fenders off.
If I may add that in the 1st position is correct for after market bodies and the origin bodies. But there should be a note and or the correct position for the phoenix body at that step. Cheers 👍
The newer releases of this kit come with a new aluminum shock collar. Fixes the issue of the older kits with the plastic collars. The new collars thread on easily.
Nice build tips Joe. Really interesting how you do your shock builds too. Thinking that you likely saved a lot of builders from having the brushed motor shaft clearance issue...Nice!!
I wonder if Vanquish will offer the Phoenix transmission. It would be nice if we could just buy the back half, the dig and overdrive feature that is so all of us vfd owners can have those features. Glad i havent found a vfd dig unit yet. Nice build Exo 👍
This video is extremely helpful... I am also going to use the HH CM 13T... And I might use some different shocks... Or at least pre built. (I hate building shocks)
At 4:20 it looks like you'e pretty limited to use a biger pinion, maybe a 18t, can the spur be changed for a smaller one? It doesn't look like any regular spur i've seen before
@@urdonercjeremyburris7541 In some situations you need an extra impulse which can be achieved only with a potent motor and not so low gearing. Also if i want to make it a basher then that would be my choice and i want to see what alternatives do i have
I was so bummed with the shocks and my servo mount for the overdrive servo is loose and wiggly and I tightened it down properly. Woulda paid a little more for aluminum shock adjusters. I also had a couple screws missing but leftovers of a bunch of other ones. 🤷♂️
Seems like vanquish needs to step it up a little bit on there shocks. For the money there asking for these vehicles you shouldn’t run into any issues at all! Good job dealing with it!👍
People are going to run into problems with any rc. Everything isn't perfect and that goes the same way with life. If you can't handle something going wrong with an rc at time to time then your in the wrong hobby
Shocking problems there with the shocks. I expect VP will address the problem at the factory, either by redesigning the part, improving QC or preinstalling the collar. VP have a very good reputation so im sure they will put right this and the other issues that are being reported. Me, i'm waiting on a straight axled version of the Phoenix. I will get it the moment it is released. Thanks for the informative video.
@@urdonercjeremyburris7541 I read elsewhere that a straight axled version had already been developed and that the release was going to be sooner rather than later... now you've got me worried...
Hummmm...not an hassle free build...but then, never saw or heard of one that was. Nothing major, just some "minor" tolerance issues...easy fix . Kinda bummed about only accepting 540 cans (at least thats what I understood)...limmiting motor choices. That transmission is just a beautiful piece of engineering...selectable 2 or 4WD + DIG + OVERDRIVE (2 modes) ... awsome!!! On looks alone, the MST CFX J45C wins...by a long shot ! Performance wise...come on running video!!! Cheers mate
Given that the other VS4’s were so expensive and had really bad shocks those got even worse feedback. Given that point they’ve had 3+ years to find better shocks or design good shocks and they didn’t unfortunately
That's too bad that they couldn't design the transmission in such a way that you could swap out the dual speed overdrive for just a two-speed transmission. I think at least some people would have liked to have had a two-speed transmission.
I was thinking about getting 1 of these. But after watching your video no way. Way too much money for all the problems.I think vanquish really dropped the ball in this 1. I am really disappointed. I bought a vs410 pro a few weeks ago And I wasn't too impressed with that either. Not worth the money. It's a shelf queen.
I love the blue mine is silver and blue I also went with the crawl Master sport pool build good job
ooo hell no i got to change the shock towers back around dang wthell lol i glade i seen this vid jesss

Nice job Joe! Now I can start my build. Time to make this rig perform. Can’t wait to see your plans and upgrades.
did u notice the slight Gap on youre transmision.. where the front driveshaft goes conected
Oh ya
Your sticker is holographic lol great vid as always thanks Joe
Been waiting on this lol got mine yesterday
I did the same thing on the front shock mounts too. 😄 I knew I did them right but didn’t go back in the instructions and see the book is wrong.

The young lad on rc review put 90mm aftermarket shocks , you can see his Phoenix had way more articulation .
Gosh I hope it looks cool on his flex Friday posts
The shocks definitely blow!!!
Nice build tips Joe. Really interesting how you do your shock builds too. Thinking that you likely saved a lot of builders from having the brushed motor shaft clearance issue...Nice!!
You got a link for the rod end tool that you had in the drill?
If this was a fully licensed Toyota body this would my ultimate dream rig.
Wow, i have stock traxxas steering servos. Good to know they work in the OD. 😁

Hello, my friend. I'm curious. The name of the tip on the electric driver that comes out at 16:15.
Those are from Bowhouse RC
@@ExocagedRC Thanks :)

Why would you want a smaller spur or a bigger pinion. Its a crawler not a basher

I'm look of getting a kit and have no clue what one I think ill take this one off my list what is the best kit to buy
Do you have a link to that tool you used on the suspension links?
Manual is correct, hole is to access shock screw, not the body posts. Body posts aren't used with the stock body

Awesome build! Do you have the link for the rod end drill mount?
Team Garage Hack rod end speed wrench. Also look up szczerba tool. It’s for holding the other rod end by hand.
yeah i watch harley designs build it on a live build he said something about the shocks they are bad watching you do it
Dont see the TGH ball driver bit. (Definitely want 1! Didn't see it on their website neither)
TGH rod end speed wrench

Sir what is the weight of transmission with transfer case?
I haven't seen this on you channel in a long time. Did you sell it?

good video. so about the horns, do you mean ill need 3 of those vanquish horns you linked below or just 1 for the steering?
you totally did just strip out the shock cap at 3:05... wow man come on!
Maybe i missed it but what color blue is that
No idea on that, to me its just blue
@ExocagedRC looks good buddy
Nice
I wish I could afford to buy one

How long did it take you to build it ?

Is The light kit Worth $225? Ebay is selling that Vanquish for $725.
I gave this a like, if for nothing else, the D bag comment. Also, I'm curious why the trans gear aren't greased.
Oops, nevermind.
I would be pissed if it was my kit. They want top dollar, so I would expect top quality!
Top dollar for a vanquish kit is about a grand
😁
Given that the other VS4’s were so expensive and had really bad shocks those got even worse feedback. Given that point they’ve had 3+ years to find better shocks or design good shocks and they didn’t unfortunately
Always gotta give companies time to work out the kinks, even on high end kits. I never buy a rig in which it is the first unproven platform.
@@toddbertram6556 sure but they knew their old shocks were bad so these should have been good out of the gate.
