    It blows me away the variable overdrive has just hit the market now. Better late than never. The Phoenix seems like an amazing kit. Just another great product from the leaders in the scale rc world.

    Many thanks for putting in the time/effort. Product development, support and marketing is an exhausting effort that never stops. This truck is certainly on my watch list. Job well done and I hope Vanquish recognizes your efforts. Side note: Check the Three Stooges "Dizzy Doctors" a good laugh (my opinion) on the goo gone/goof off thing. Cheers

    The shims would go on the inside of the pinion gear to adjust the ring and pinion

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is not correct in this case. The intention of these shims is to adjust in and out backlash to with the driveshaft due to the forces that hypoid gears create, not to adjust mesh.

  • @danielkonrad1444
    @danielkonrad1444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    On my kit, the brass tubes do not fit snug, they are totally loose and fall out easily. Should'nt they fit tight? On the front axle they are nice an tight in the housing.

    Question for ya Josh, I assembled the front axle per instructions and everything fits nice but when I got to spin the 12mm hex it’s spins freely one way and not the other. Ideas?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s the nature of hypoid gears. Put the driveshaft on and it won’t do that. It’s trying to pull the pinion into the case in one direction and push it out in the other.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      These use the same gears as used in the AR44 Axles, so they can not be switched left to right by design as they are a hypoid gear. All parts will be available separately.

      Carrier bearing? Not sure which you mean but I believe I show all gears being greased.

    • @trashypantsyota
      @trashypantsyota 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearings that go on the locker are called carrier bearings in the 1:1 world. I may have missed it but all I saw grease get used on was the gears.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trashypantsyota Ah yes, I understand now, sometimes it's hard going back and forth between typical RC terms and full-size terms. You could pack those bearings if you wanted. They are just an unshielded version of the other bearings used in the kit though which don't typically get extra lubrication added. Being open, I could see an argument for them needing extra grease/protection but it isn't something that I have done on my rigs in the past.

    • @trashypantsyota
      @trashypantsyota 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greasing them isn't extra lube, that's what lubes them from the start. Pop a shield on any other bearing and you'll find lube from the factory, the open bearings just need a smear of grease and they'll live forever.

    • @mickd8188
      @mickd8188 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trashypantsyota I can confirm that when I packed mine there was definitely a caramel coloured grease that was pushed through by the blue grease I used... so they are already lubricated but I like to repack mine as you do also..

    @christophermears7738 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did they decide to go with an open-faced bearing.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because you can’t get a 7x14x3.5 bearing with a seal. So to make it reverse compatible with all the other axle and gear sets it’s was retained that way. It’s the same as any VS4-10, SCX10-2, SCX10-3, Capra, etc.
