I just got one of these phoenix straight axle kits from the TOF offer! Stoked to get started on the build and happy with all the additional items in the box! This now adds #2 vanquish rigs to my crew! #3 is on the way also….just ordered the New Falken RTR portal rig……I think I’m done for awhile! 😅 Great video as always! Enjoy your paint schemes….helps me with ideas ….but I won’t copy yours😊

Fantastic truck build. I love the portal & non-portal options. I prefer my portals, unless my terrain calls for a LCG comp style vehicle. Driving through the river rock creek beds and trailing the portals are better equipped for my taste.

This is really starting to look like a really good couple of days for trail truck releases. I've almost bought a Phoenix portal a couple of times, but I'll most likely be picking up one of these instead.
Great paint job. Really like the clutch scale on the hood and the power indicator on the fuel cell. Maybe DeWalt would like to offer a magnetic skid plate and rock sliders, so one can pickup nails on the ground at the job site.
Fantastic looking truck. I appreciate seeing you leave in the times that it hung on the axles a bit in the running footage too, particularly when you could tell the wheels were on the ground, but didn't have traction to pull it over an obstacle.

Well I took the plunge and ordered a Phoenix today. Portal axle as the straight was sold out. I can switch to straight later maybe. I also got some machined axles and gears for my Capra. Expensive order. :)
I prefer a straight axle too. Less to break and wear out. Only owned one with portal axles and got rid of it before I changed it to straight axles. Was a traxxas trx6.

You’ve practically made the portal phoenix my dream crawler. Doing the exact setup that you’ve done is what I’d like to do with full tekin electronics. Including every single part and the kit plus the 1 or 2 tools I’d need to get to build it and the transmitter+ receiver it would be $1,727.37 before tax or shipping. I’m definitely gonna be saving up for awhile! Amazing content and you’ve really shown me how realistic and amazing these crawlers can be. Also this would be my first kit. I had a gen8 scout at one point but had to get rid of it due to other issues. Building them looks like half the fun honestly

Yes, please. I'd love to get my hands on one and put it to the test. On the smooth note, it looks like it runs VERY smooth. The shock motion looks perfect. Question: are you using a motorized gimbal for your Sony? I use one for my action camera but the option for DSLR/mirrorless looks sick. I'd love to use my Nikons on video for much better res.
If you had the option of either twin and single-ratio transmission, which would you prefer for general scale-oriented running? Is the twin exceptionally noisy, extra backlash, etc? I keep thinking that I want to have as scale a driving experience as possible, but... options are appealing, too. I'd love your opinion on the current kit vs looking for a lightly-used Pro version. You're doing a great job. Really appreciate your work!

Watched this while painting rust paint stuff onto a spare Hilux bed. But this seems like quite the nice thing, way too performance oriented for my tastes though! As it looked like it was actively crawling and not just driving between periods of getting stuck on minor obstacles! (Please read that previous statement in a dangerously sarcastic tone of voice.) I do like that awkward almost Toyota body though, looks like the "Jeep" From BeamNG Drive, but as a pickup.
Truck looks awesome, I really like the tire/wheel combo you choose, they really hit the sweet spot on the width, I'm curious what offset you used(I'm assuming those are Vanquish wheels?)

Just built a phoenix portal. Loved the build and im excited. Did they fix the errors in the manul? they only tell you to use one c clip on the dig transmission area..... I put one on both the end to hold the bearing in and another right after the gear... Is this correct? there was notches for two. Also they mislabeled the lower rear links.
Oh boy, I'm drooling! I guess the wallet is taking another big hit (but NOT as big as in the past with VP, lol). Btw, who, WHO(!) replicates an electric driver and includes the torque settings in the paint job - brilliant! 👍

To me a comp truck should be a straight axle. Hands down in my opinion it makes handle better and perform better

Just built a phoenix portal. Loved the build and im excited. Did they fix the errors in the manul? they only tell you to use one c clip on the dig transmission area..... I put one on both the end to hold the bearing in and another right after the gear... Is this correct? there was notches for two. Also they mislabeled the lower rear links.
Those errors still exist as far as I know. I'll have to check the manual again, but pretty sure it requires two e-clips.
Oh boy, I'm drooling! I guess the wallet is taking another big hit (but NOT as big as in the past with VP, lol). Btw, who, WHO(!) replicates an electric driver and includes the torque settings in the paint job - brilliant! 👍
