That should be obvious though, the separatists were trying to leave the tyrannical republic, and the empire solved few issues they had, it only made the worlds more stable, they didn't deal with any issues caused by the war however.

@@tk-6967 the republic was not tyrannical lmao, but it started to get overbearing *specifically because of palpatine*. people calling the republic bad and saying CIS was "better despite its flaws" are so cringe. the separatists were not freedom fighters, they wanted to bring back slavery and corporate rule over the galaxy. they were not good guys. there were good people both in the republic and under the CIS, but the government of the latter was far far worse than the republic ever was.

    • @TriggeringOpinionsandFacts

The CIS showed how bankers business men and aristocracy take the needs of the people and twist them into a war that is fought for their own gain.
The people suffered discrimination, poverty, exploitation (by some of these same corporations that backed the confederacy) and more. The confederacy showed how the upper class takes real ground up movements and twists it into something awful. The republic shows how the upper class weakens the structures meant to address the needs of the people for their own benefit until those structures are useless.
Empire shows the military not caring about any of that shit and just putting the hammer on everybody, softening the hammer a bit for the upper class as long as they’re useful (wealthy & influential).
Even the rebellion had to deal with this relationship to the upper class as 1. Some of them formed leadership of the rebellion and 2. They needed to form a government out of a total revolutionary collapse & the upper class has the funds & influence to make that smoother.

The CIS politicians weren't evil, like Bonteri, it was the council made up of the corporations like the Trade Fed and Techno Union that were responsible for the horrible atrocities committed by them, ordered by Palpatine and Dooku ofcourse.
The CIS is basically an evil version of the Rebellion if they didn't have any moral code or ethics and just did whatever necessary like war crimes. That's why the rebellion chose to fight without employing underhanded and dirty tactics, because it would have been easy for the Empire to label them as a new Separatist threat.

    • @tk-6967
      @tk-6967 2 ปีที่แล้ว +148

@@justnoel4088 Although you are right about the first part, the rebels used loads of dirty and underhanded tactics, they committed dozens of war crimes. In fact, in a very simplified war crimes count I saw recently for star wars rebels, which counted the rebels in orange vs all other factions, but mainly the empire, in blue, so included Maul's group, criminals and the Mining Guild as well, meaning that it wasn't just Imperial. All in all, the Rebels committed more war crimes than every other faction combined in the show. Phoenix cell is noted to be probably the most humanitarian groups in and out of the Alliance, and Chopper alone has killed over 4000 people in acts of sabotage outside of the show, meaning many of those people would be technicians, engineers, crew and non-combatants, including other droids, as chopper is famous for killing random droids. R2 seems to not really care at all about any foe, whether stormtrooper or fellow droid, ruthlessly butchering Goldie, which was a war crime, and also zapping many people with his equipment. He has airlocked stormtroopers and also used flamethrowers on them and killed several unarmed technicians while freeing C3PO in a comic. All of these things are war crimes.

I think per example Brexit is an example:
From the perspective of Pro-Brexiter: It was a choice of national sovereignty, of being rid of demands from an organisation that has been increasingly willing to receive of political powers and threaten Britain's rule of law and choice of self-preservation to choose for it-self of self-sovereignty. And thus being 'independent'.
From the perspective of Brexit-Opposition, it was a choice that included fear mongering, seperating from EU benefits and was influenced by alot of negative nationalism and of populist movements that would hurt Britain more than the benefits and loose alot of benefits that the EU provided.
It's not a perfect presentation, but see it from this way:
The Republic was the largest, perhaps most largest political body in the Galaxy, with lots of 'benefits' but clearly was at the end of it's life cycle super corrupt and clearly influence by large cooperation or very bureaucratized to the point of being ineffetive. Which was unacceptable to the CIA who clearly wanted the rule of law to return to themselves and be allowed to have their own sovereignty (Except they didn't see themselves being influenced by large cooperation or were force to seek their cooperation to preserve that self-sovreignty.)

They had no representation in the parliament itself, the Confederate senators thought their government was buying from the corporations but they didn’t KNOW they were being run by them! And the ‘corrupt’ military was filled with droids- droids that followed orders. The Confederacy thought they BOUGHT those droids or were being given to them in good faith! They didn’t know what was happening on the front lines (The Republic committed crimes too by the way and their ranks were filled with slave soldiers) and it wasn’t just classian thag joined the rebellion (and that cassias argument is bullshit >_> General Kalani a DROID General resisted the empire with the help of Captain Rex, Kanan, and Ezra before leaving.) many confederate droids and war vessels were USED by the growing rebellion! Of course there were always senators (on both sides again) who would have preferred a more diplomatic way but they were a minority and probably smart enough to know that some shady stuff is a necessity in wartimes. The Republic was not better or worse than the CIS and it can´t just be blamed on the Sith controlling both sides. The Jedi (even before the war) as religious fanatics with immense power who put themselves above the law did not need Sith-assistance to do shady stuff. In the legends novels Medstar I+II we learn about an accidental genocide that was commited by the Republic.

@@DasVadderr I'm surprised there hasn't been an episode in the CW where the Senate votes on jedi involvement in the war because the point you said about Grivious' secret admirers is 100% true. To the average Republic citizen, your galactic government does not protect your children from crazy religious fanatics because they see a quality in your baby that only they can sense (the force). The jedi back up the republic with their strength so nobody can stand up to them and the republic enables them by letting them get involved in its affairs.

To give a heroic tone to what was nothing more than mediocre carnage, the empire painted the Clone Wars as the heroic defense of a fat and defenseless Republic against anarchic separatists, who were caricatured as droids, aliens and corporations.
The CIS never had the will, never less the power to destroy the Republic, they only wanted to protect their independence and freedom, which in no way were they going to achieve in a prolonged war against the vastly superior in population and resources Core Worlds.
The CIS was the first victim of Palapatine and the example for the entire galaxy: the central government would control local politics and the defense of local interests would be considered "separatism" and oppression "order".

Dooku was the Sith in control of CIS and yes, he was following Palpatine's orders, but he had his own plans.

As I understood it, the Empire was still trying to put on a nice face in the early days. If they started public executions right out of the gate everyone and their sister would of started resisting them.
Remember, Palpatine didn't dissolve the Senate until the Beginning of Episode 4 when the Death Star was coming online. At that point it was pretty much the signal for everyone in the Empire to stop worrying about seeming nice.

@@lasojotas791 Fair enough. However, I believe that while this arrest turned a good chunck of the planet against the Empire, it could have been spun as just having trouble "de-radicalizing a former Separatist world" or some similar nonsense.
Where as if word got out that the Empire publicly executed the elected representative of a world as soon as he expressed disaproval of the Empire's policies, forget the former Separatist worlds, most of the worlds that had stayed loyal to the Republic would start actively resisting as well.
