Having pulled quite a few motors myself from the junk yards, most of the time in auto cars, you can separate the trans from the motor without having to pull it all out at once. Simply remove the bell housing bolts after the flex plate bolts, then everything else around the engine before you pull it. Motor should separate cleanly from the trans without the worry of stripping out bolt holes.
Just came across your channel, loved the vid man, some quality content for your average gear head, tired of seeing spoiled kids overpay for their mommy sponsored builds
For real in la as well it's difficult they got crews of guys who already know that it's going to be in the yard before it even gets in the yard then come in with like three or four guys and strip the whole thing out
I got mine for 190$ at pick and pull and it was going to be 180 but they charged me for a motor mount that I couldn’t take off the bolt because it was striped
in Aus, a k24 long block are easily found for $100-300 and a complete engine with all accessories and wiring harness for $500... best engine to swap into little old cars
Baggio Bruce where you at? Ray White you will never find a b20 VTEC in the yard. That engine does not exist from OEM. You can find B20s in the yard almost regularly. A VTEC B18 is a GSR. they do come into the yards but very very very very rarely.
@@hush22performance1 thx I'm new to the car I mostly go to that yard because I had to get new doors and fenders it was wrecked and the engine is seized
good sir hush performance. i need some guidance. i found a k24 from a 2004 tsx it been in a front left side colision. the front left tire has been ripped off. the engine is for sale out of it. thier asking for 500$ is this a fair price? ive sent them an email asking if the price is final. now that im thinking about it should i ask for a compression test or ask if it running? i realize its from a junkyard and they prolly dont do that kind of in depth testing but i think $500 is kinda expensive for that much of a risk. what do u think? if i should look for anything in particular please let me know. this is of course if u have some spare time when u see this. thanks for your time. and im gonna continue watching more of your k24/k20 junkyard pulls hoping to find some tidbits of information on waht to look for. thanks again.
Love the content and information. Just wondering if you would be willing to buy and ship little parts from these yards that you go to. Junk yards don't have anything with mentioning around here
Shift the trans, crank the engine from the crank bolt listen for that gas air sound that you hear which means compression. If it looks like the heads on correctly and timing then you can crank it around 2 full circles see how all the cylinders behave.
Here in cal they open the gate so you can load it. I been all over the pick and pulls here in California and Nevada and there’s one in Carson ct were you have to take it out with the well barrow and then bring you cherry picker, went I go from sac to Carson I bring a small cherry picker , because the first time I get a dodge 5.9 and there wasn’t a entrance I had to paid 3 dudes outside to help me to load it into my truck it was fucket up
Nyc is like that.usually ppl here use the original ecu for state inspection yearly an then switch back. Not sure how the whole smog thing works by yu.but id look into something like this.
You want a discount on the engine because don’t have the pick up tube? I get a 5.8 from rancho Cordova in Sacramento no accessories so my engine didn’t had distributor and I end up paying complete and they know me I buy aleast 3 engines a week and they told me if you want get another engine or just leave it.
All of Brian's accomplishment have as well begun to pay off for you w/recent efforts of your channel. Your name dropping outta Respect 'awesome' tho more beneficial to tag/flash his channel & Insta VS the chances of someone taking the extra step to Google. My 2c's anyWayz. If you remove the sub frame just leave the trans and motor mounts and dropped engine to the ground is easier I will post a video in my channel to show you how to do it not engine hoist need only a dolly
u pull and pay on broadway is one of the worst yards at least, they aren't going to negotiate at all. I wouldn't have taken an engine with a missing pan.
@@chrisF25 the car is going to need an oil pan. I wouldnt buy an engine without an oil pan would you? Are u going to find an oil pan cheaper anywhere else? Are they even going to charge you for it? Probably not
I respect your work and all but. Going around buying all these engines just to cover up for some later date is kinda selfish... 🤣 What happen to the regular Joe that blew his engine and need one asap..
Why would u do all that work before actually securing the engine (paying and garentee that it’s yours?) not how it works in yards here. U don’t touch anything untill u pay.
I love this dudes videos. He teaches a lot and is a humble dude. Keep it up. 👍🏼
😂
That deep sigh you did while under the car and saying I hope they give us a discount on the engine was gold
Laughed a lot at that 👌🏻
I recently got a b18 from a junkyard for $250 to me that's cheap but I love videos like these keep up the good work very informative
Robomania was this in a California Pick A Part?
I bought a b20 block for like $100 at a pyp
I definitely need to step up my tools, never thought to bringing a saw, thanks for the tips.
Yeah definitely some yards will let you bring a grinder too but only if you're getting exhausted it helps
Really cool video thats cheap especially when you consider how popular there getting. The tips and tricks are neat too.

Thanks for the info, trying to get into K series stuff and need to do it on the cheap.
That Milwaukie impact tho, putting in work!
Sy Nguyen love their tools.
I use those as well love them
Definitely can't go wrong with that I still end up using a breaker bar here and there

I love the hair. Mine never looks like that when I am done. I looks like I went to war 😂
Going junkyard is so addictive when you find your car there
Not sure if you misspoke but I would recommend using a TimeSert as opposed to a helicoil. Just a heads up, nice find.
How did you end up fixing this block? Or was it salvagable at all?
I got mine for 190$ at pick and pull and it was going to be 180 but they charged me for a motor mount that I couldn’t take off the bolt because it was striped

Its possible make a change on a k24a AT to make it manual?
Hush performance where is the best place to find a b18 to b20 with a dohc vtec. Most places I go to is missing the head already

Any tips on how to check to see if engine and trans good?

Great video and very informative.
? Are you guys a shop that will do a complete k swap installed and running like for a stock em2?
Chris Mats FLPNEZE AZ we can.

so you can get a auto k24a2 an slap a rsx type s Transmission ?? what would you use for ECU
manuel ramirez yes you can. We use K Tuner ECUs
but im in cali the law says i need the ecu from the motor that came with it any chance you got a motor with ecu harness
We do not

Pulled a K series with a 5speed from the same yard lol
Awesome video! Keep them coming!
I love that yard!! Is that the one down in Buckeye?
My local yards don't allow cutting tools.
At my local junk yard they will pull a motor and transmission for you and load it onto your car for $250
do you do the wire harnesses for people
terrance STL yes we can.

It's a *sawzall not a sawzar.

Plasma cutter! For those bolts that are smashed over!
that poor motor looks like the oil was never changed.. :(
Bruh this man is being butthurt over a 250 dollar engine, in canada we'd pay $600+
It's almost the same price when you buy it in scrap not 600$
We pay 240 here in sac this guy is so cheap ass. The workers don’t make the prices you can argue with the computer all day long

The point was to get it for cheaper
