I kept yelling at the screen... "zest the oranges first". There is so much wonderful flavor in the zest. Having citrus zest in the freezer adds a delicious hit of flavor to so many things.
I wish I had heard you!! 😀 that’s a fantastic idea! Next time I’m doing that. Thank you!!!!
Or you could have candied the peel if you like hot crossed buns or fruit cakes
YES 🙌🏻 I was yelling that too 💯
l am in a transition period but when l get moved and settled, l hope to do this in bulk next citrus season. But l plan to peel all the citrus to freeze dry for other recipes, juice the insides with my hydraulic juice press, then make & can jam from the pulp. Using all parts of the organic produce saves money, plus the oils in the citrus peels are very healthy for us & have cancer fighting nutrients.
Amanda what a wonderful idea! I’m so glad you shared your experience with this machine….i know many of us have limited space…but the convenience of fresh squeezed citrus…well I think it is worth the space & the money.
Meeeee Tooooo 👏🏻🥳❤️
Oh my goodness 🤩 This is awesome 👏🏻 Thank you for sharing! NOW I need to get my appliances reorganized 😂😆 I need this!!!! ❤
Can see you have been given many tips on the comments . I save the peels , dehydrate them blitz and use them as orange flavouring in cakes . On its own it’s very bitter but in a cake it’s perfect . 😊
I quickly realized I messed up by composting all of the peels. I am definitely saving next time!! Thank you! :)
Make you some cleaners with those skins
Only pints and half pints are made to freeze
Well, that would probably explain why my quarts and half gallons of raw milk are cracking. Thanks!
Good afternoon enjoy your day
I guessed about 5 oranges too!
Those bottles are a great idea!! Just curious if when the bottles stay frozen for a while....will they expand and burst? Can you give an update on how the bottles are doing in the freezer? I love your videos...thanks for sharing!! Have a blessed day and I hope your family enjoyed your Christmas.
So far, we haven't had any issues with expansion or bursting.
Awesome update!! Thank you so much!❤
HONEY I AM SCREAMING. Do not throw out the rind next time zest the oranges FIRST put zest in ice cube trays with filtered water make ice cubes for flavored water or use in recipes. Also save & freeze the pulp to put in marinade or baking/cooking. Do the same with grapefruits limes & lemons too.
GOD BLESS from Julie West Central Indiana Farmland.
I wish I had heard you! :) Great ideas, and I will do that next time. Thanks!
Did you make citrus vinegars for cleaning with all your peels? I think I might have to get that machine! You made it look so easy!❤
I have just started in venturing into this. Another fantastic idea!! Thank you!
That's so weird.... I freeze Mason jars all the time. I have dozens in the freezer. Do weird.
You might want to cut that juice with water so you’re not drinking the equivalent of five oranges in one dose.
When we were visiting friends in Tenerife ~ an island off the coast of Spain ~ we cut the fresh squeezed Orange Juice with sparkling water! Soooooo refreshing and delicious 😋😋😋🤩 That is a MUST TRY for you 😀🥳💯
NOT TO BE A DOWNER OR ANYTHING, BUT DID YOU DO THE MATH????? I AM NO MATH GENIUS BY ANY MEANS, BUT I AM THINKING THAT THIS ADVENTURE COST YOU A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY FOR ONE PRODUCT. (not yelling, just overly excited) 16 oz bottles x 14 bottles is 224 oz. I looked in my refrig at the carton of minute maid and It is 59 oz. $3.18 at Walmart. x 5 bottles is $15.90 for 295 oz. $.053 per oz. Simply Non GMO No Pulp Calcium Orange Juice, 89 fl oz Bottle is $6.48 $.07 an oz. Now if you had zested them first and saved it and the pulp for baking and saved the rinds for cleaning products, etc.... It might have been worth it. I am happy that you had fun though.
Fresh, real food (that isn't commercially processed/packaged) isn't always less expensive. Next time, I will be saving the zest and the peels!
