Hi Shibtember, Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback, I really appreciate it :) It may take a bit of practice when trying mountains for the first few times but the more you do them the more use to it you will get :)
I've watched yours and some other channels on spray paint art and even though I don't consider myself very artistic at all, I gave it a go on my own and am liking it a lot so far. It's pretty easy to impress others with planets and I'm now getting inspiration and guidance to step up my game to do some more artistic art like this one. Saved the video for future reference, can't wait to try it out and then see the faces of others if I get it to look even half as well as your painting does. Thanks for the excellent video guides!

I always struggle with mountains. This way looks so much easier. Can’t wait to try this way 👍🏼 Also need to try out fire. I get impatient and don’t let things dry haha
Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment it's much appreciated :) yeh it gives a very effective texture and look :) and very simple to do aswell :) take your time with the fire and hold the flame over the painting not at it :) i use to get impatient but now i always wait for things to dry, safer that way :) Good luck when trying and let me know how you got on :)

Hi Thomas, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :)
Hello want to thank you so much you have inspired me so much and have learned allot from you. You do beautiful work the question I have is after you put the clearcoat what do you gloss it with?
Hi Chris, Sorry for the late response, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question, I really appreciate it :) i use a clear coat which as a gloss finish hope this helps :) It's also nice to hear that i have inspired you and that you have learnt a lot from watching my videos :)
The mountain looked so good with that large piece of white in the middle. Right until you hit it again with the plastic. I was so bummed. Lol Still looks awesome so far. Back to the video!
Hi Get ovr yourslf, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :) Yes it looked well with the white in the middle, but for the video i wanted to show that you could go back over parts to pull paint off in smaller areas :)
Hi Manny, Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to leave this fab comment and feedback i really appreciate it :) Also i'm glad i could help :)
well i have a BA in fine art love your approach i do use a airbrush from time to time but not cans as you do, but congrats to your work ,love it but not my thing that i do well done, wish you all the best keep going with your art
Well Jon many thanks for sharing the art of can spraying...without you....would never have known how to do this work of art.....iv now mastered ( in a fashion) the mountains.and the trees in the back ground..to be truthful I did forget how you did the background trees....and was using a piece of card....but when I went back into your tutorial I remembered you used a brush...derrrrr lol any way all fixed now easy fix just went over it. Jon I’m having problems with the painting use....i don’t know if it’s because I’m not shaking it long enough or it’s cheep paint?at the moment I’m paying £2:50 for a can of 250m has iv only just started...I can buy car paint but that’s more then double the price....what sort of paint should I be using?the cheep paint at £2:50.... or the more expensive car paint? The problem is I put the black down then the white and black again...but it ones out watery? I’m thinking I’m not mixing it long enough ...what you think? Any way Jon your Da Man’ to ask....many thanks for great tutorials...of which....I’m work my was though 👍 Dave .
Hi Dave, Thank you very much for watching, and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment and feedback I really do appreciate it :) In most cases, the cheaper the paint the thinner the paint is I started off with old cans of car spray paint that I had, had for years, and they were thin-ish paints, I have not used a 250ml can before but I suppose they are just the same as the 400ml cans, If the paint seems a bit watery then it most probably thin paint which you are best using thinner coats of it as the more you spray in one spot the thinner/watery the paint will look/go, Do you shake the cans for around 2 mins each? Also, the car spray paint cans are like high-pressure cans which let a lot more paint out than a low pressure can, but once you get used to can control you can spray less paint out of a high pressure can, also the caps that comes with the cans are designed to let more paint out but you can control the amount that comes out by pressing the cap down with different pressures, Hope this all makes sense Dave :) The cans I used are 400ml cans and are around £4.50 a can, I also used 400ml cans which cost around £3.75 can, the cheaper one is a bit thinner than the more expensive one and they also have different pressures ones high and ones low. Is the more expensive paint in a 400ml can Dave? if so I would buy 2 cans off it and see how it is compared to the £2.50 cans, Let me know how it goes, and if you want to ask anything else feel free to do so Dave :) :)
Hi Cambo, Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback, I really appreciate it :) I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video :)
Hi Mark, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and the question I really appreciate it :) I use nail polish remover with acetone in it to clean my brushes, hope this helps :)
I’ve attempted this twice now and I’ve had to scrap because I can’t get the mountain to actually look like a mountain. Just looks like black and white splotches in a triangle shape. Any advice? Would letting the black part of the mountain dry before putting the white on work?
Hi Thomas, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) It might be that you are putting a bit to much paint down before making the texture and its making it splotchy, try putting less paint down then do the texture :) or it might be that you are pressing/rubbing the materiel a bit to heavy which will pull more paint off, try rubbing really light when doing the texture :) Yes maybe letting the black dry first will help with the texture, but not sure as i do it with the black still wet, I hope these answers help you out and let me know how you get on :)
@@JonBarberArt ah okay thanks for the reply I’ll try doing those. I really want to work on my mountains. And noticed you did a long video just based on those which I will take some time watching and trying out myself. Keep up the amazing content as you’re helping me out who is not long started my own work. Even had an offer from someone to buy a piece of mine! I’ll update after I’ve tried out those methods. (Will probs forget) cheers mate!
Hi Marc, Thank you very much for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment, I really appreciate it :) After a few times of doing the mountains you'll get use too it and start seeing better mountains :) :)
Hi, Thank you so much for the feedback and the comment it's much appreciated :) yes i think it is but i need to find some other words to say other then like so :) to mix it up abit :)
@@JonBarberArt Hahaha, I'm just joking man. But I really love the art you make! Hope you keep making more of these tutorials, you're one of the best i've seen so far 👍

Hi AG360, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and the question, I really appreciate it :) The colours i would use are greens, blues, black, and white hope this helps :)
Hi David, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, question, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :) I find most of my supplies on the internet, and some from art/hobby shops, If i can't find it in a shop i look for it online, hope this helps :)
Great painting. Love color but B/W is so cool. I noticed you use what appears to be the same type of plastic bag or sheet of plastic. Do you purchase them somewhere or is that just what your grocery store uses to put your items into? Thank you
Hi Mike, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question, I really appreciate it :) Yes, I really like painting in Black and White only :) The Plastic sheet I use is part of a large bag that I cut up so it's easier to use, I got them from a place I use to work, they were throwing lots of them in a skip, so I took them, I don't know anything about them or where I would get any more from, all I know is they are a large plastic bag, sorry I couldn't be more helpful Mike
@@JonBarberArt No worries. I like the textures those bags make. Although the plastic grocery bags and magazine pages work well also. Thank you my friend. I enjoy every time you release a video Jon! :)
Hi Jahan, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) Yes i was using the clear coat to do the flame drying process hope this helps :)
Hey man, you inspired me to pick this art up. I'm loving it! Quick question. My fingers feel vvv cold when I spray on them to make the stars (i do wear medical gloves). Is that normal? Cheers.
Great video. Love all your videos. But I do have a quick question, where can I find the kind of paper you use for your paintings. Im currently using painting canvases and would love to try on inkjet paper.
Hi Patrick, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question, I really appreciate it :) It's also nice to hear you love my videos :) It depends what country you live in to be honest, It can be called different things in a different country. It took me while to find some paper in the UK, in the end i looked for paper suppliers on the internet that sold glossy paper, i found one which was not that far from me, but unfortunately they have now stopped trading now which was a disappointment to hear. but in the USA it's called poster board, which is what i was looking for at first in the UK, but couldn't find anything here which was called that, hope this helps :)
gracias chamo explicas mejor que los demas 😊😊😊😊 por que los demas solo pintan sin explicar y yame doy cuenta por que el video es corto de otros porque no explican

Hi Ozwald, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the suggestion I really appreciate it :) It's also nice to hear you love watching me paint :) Yes using a hair dryer/ heat gun will work fine for drying and yes it's also safer then the flame :)
Hi Jonh, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment and feedback, I really appreciate it :) You could also use bin bags, carrier bags, glossy magazine paper etc these will all work but each one will produce a slightly different texture :)
Hi John, no problem, happy to help :) Thank you for the feedback :) yes there's lets of things to use, it's just trail and error some things will work great and others won't :)
Hi Necro, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) I use skinny caps on my cans, It really depends on what the stock cap is that comes with the cans, to weather you use it or not, Just remember it may take a few painting to get use to the caps and the cans and how they spray, hope this helps :)
Hi Jon watching your video for the first time I love painting but I’m a beginner just retired and want to try this is the paint you use is it a flat coat or gloss ? Thanks for your tutorial 👍 watching from Kentucky USA.
Hi Lisa, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question i really appreciate it :) I used a semi-gloss paint for this one, but i also have a beginners series on my channel where i use gloss paint for them all, I like using both types of paint hope this helps :)
Hi Kieran, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question I really appreciate it :) The material im painting on is glossy paper, i also use canvas sometimes to paint on :)
Hi Brian, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment, great feedback and question it's very appreciated :) If the paint is mixing up and turning gray try using less of each color when you are doing the planet then they won't mix as much, and also if you have a lot of paint down the more times you pull some paint of for the texture the more the paint will mix and start turning a gray, hope this helps :)
Hi lbrahim, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) Yes this can be done on a stretched canvas and the size of the paper is A2 hope this helps ;)

Trying to do mountains just became more simple 👌 Thanks for the tips
Great work it looks amazing bro

well i have a BA in fine art love your approach i do use a airbrush from time to time but not cans as you do, but congrats to your work ,love it but not my thing that i do well done, wish you all the best keep going with your art
Is that an insult or a compliment mr BA in fineart lol dimeadozen arts degree
Any way Jon your Da Man’ to ask....many thanks for great tutorials...of which....I’m work my was though 👍 Dave
.
Is the more expensive paint in a 400ml can Dave? if so I would buy 2 cans off it and see how it is compared to the £2.50 cans, Let me know how it goes, and if you want to ask anything else feel free to do so Dave :) :)

how do you clean your brushes, Love the painting.
Hi Mark, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and the question I really appreciate it :) I use nail polish remover with acetone in it to clean my brushes, hope this helps :)
Wow , does the same ideas work with air brushing ? Im a noob in all of this , awesome job !!!
👍👍👍 thanks
Hi Joanne, No problem, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, I really appreciate it :)
I’ve attempted this twice now and I’ve had to scrap because I can’t get the mountain to actually look like a mountain. Just looks like black and white splotches in a triangle shape. Any advice? Would letting the black part of the mountain dry before putting the white on work?
Hi Thomas, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) It might be that you are putting a bit to much paint down before making the texture and its making it splotchy, try putting less paint down then do the texture :)
or it might be that you are pressing/rubbing the materiel a bit to heavy which will pull more paint off, try rubbing really light when doing the texture :) Yes maybe letting the black dry first will help with the texture, but not sure as i do it with the black still wet, I hope these answers help you out and let me know how you get on :)
I love your video
Definitely should have watched this before i attempted my first one yesterday. My mountains are a bit odd.

Hi Jayden, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
Hello
That was an amazing work
But I have to ask
If this were to be a colored painting
What kind of colors do you recommend to use
Hi AG360, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and the question, I really appreciate it :) The colours i would use are greens, blues, black, and white hope this helps :)
hi jon question where do you get your supplies from please,?eg poster card paints etc
Did you use the clear cote for the flame?
Hi Jahan, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) Yes i was using the clear coat to do the flame drying process hope this helps :)
Hey man, you inspired me to pick this art up. I'm loving it! Quick question. My fingers feel vvv cold when I spray on them to make the stars (i do wear medical gloves). Is that normal? Cheers.
That white you use is top tier my rustoleom one sux 😅
awesome
Thank you for leaving a comment it's very appreciated :)
Is it possible to use matt paint instead of gloss. Also what would be the difference
gracias chamo explicas mejor que los demas 😊😊😊😊
por que los demas solo pintan sin explicar y yame doy cuenta por que el video es corto de otros porque no explican
Hi Juan, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words, the comment, and the great feedback, I really appreciate it :)
Have u ever checked out Bob Ross's painting tutorials Jon?
Amazing what u can do with a standard fan brush and a two inch painters brush..😊
What type of board you using or is that like a big note book paper just wondering
Hi Richard, Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I appreciate it :) I paint on glossy card hope this helps :)
Is this how you would paint on an rv to replace decals?
Hi Gloria, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and the question, i really appreciate it :) Yes This way could be use to paint on a rv :)
In stead of flame to dry it fast, why not use a hair dryer high heat on low speed. I think it would be safer. Love watching you work.
Hi Ozwald, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the suggestion I really appreciate it :) It's also nice to hear you love watching me paint :) Yes using a hair dryer/ heat gun will work fine for drying and yes it's also safer then the flame :)
the videos rock, thank you,im new to art,you vids rule but we dont have the plastic bag you use over in ireland
Hi Jonh, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave these kind words and this comment and feedback, I really appreciate it :) You could also use bin bags, carrier bags, glossy magazine paper etc these will all work but each one will produce a slightly different texture :)
Thanks mate.like an eejit I didn't think of those options.your a legend.
Your welcome for the comment.
You rock,thanks for the info
Hi John, no problem, happy to help :) Thank you for the feedback :) yes there's lets of things to use, it's just trail and error some things will work great and others won't :)
What kind of tips do you use? Should i be useing the tips that come on rustolium?
Amazing work. What kind of material do you paint on?
Hi Kieran, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback, and the question I really appreciate it :) The material im painting on is glossy paper, i also use canvas sometimes to paint on :)
Your work is amazing, I tried the planet just like you described, the black and white just blended together and made gray, any tips? Thanks.
Hey, just some questions pls reply if u can:
1. Can i do this in a stretched Canvas?
2. What was the paper size in the video- A3, A4?
Reply ASAP Plz
Hi lbrahim, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) Yes this can be done on a stretched canvas and the size of the paper is A2 hope this helps ;)
