Noooo way! I was wondering how you were going to create the buildings! I was thinking, stencil?
My goodness. My cellar walls are turning into an art gallery after watching these videos!

Hi Mrbikedrummer, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment i really appreciate it :) Yes it's a cool way of making building , you could make them with a stencil if you wanted but i find this way better as you can add what ever size building you want and also as many as you like. I would love to see the finish paintings on your cellar walls when you have finished them :)

Hi Eve. I've been watching his videos and trying it at home. The amazing thing is that he creates the "illusion" of detail. One look at the skyscrapers in the thumbnail and we'd think, "Wow, that must take a lot of time to create!". And then he drags a flat edge over the paints and, whala! Instant building!
      Amazing!

I love your work Jon with only one exception. I am often confused as to where your light source is located. I've noticed in several videos that the light source doesn't seem to make sense to me. Example: In the real world, the planets shadows would be approximately the same unless you show a star in the middle of them.
Still this is fantastic work. I enjoy them and I use them to give me ideas for my painting. ☺

Hi CadeXx, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) If you are getting big blobs of paint after you do each building there is too much paint down, which means when you scrape the paint off for the building it will gather up at the end of the building/buildings, to avoid the blobs happening just put less paint down this way when you scrape the paint for the building you will have less paint to move and less chance of it blobing, hope this helps :)

Can you tell me what kind of clear coat i should use ?

Hi Jonathan, Sorry for the late response, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question, I really appreciate it :) if you are using a brand that makes clear coat, then i would use that as it will not react with the paint. some clear coat may react with some brands of paint and will mess up the painting if you are going to use a different brand of clear coat to the brand of paint then i would do a tester to see if its okay to use, hope this makes sense and helps you :)

your art is great for sure. You make beautiful pictures. However, a word of advice: If you're going to name a video tutorial for beginners, you might actually explain a little of each step. What you think of as obvious, does not always come clear through the camera. Remember it's supposed to be for beginners. People just starting out who may not get exactly what you are doing. I've seen some other tutorials you've done and you certainly arent afraid to explain in great detail what it is you're doing and why. And i think that's most helpful to people just starting out.

It really isn't a tutorial if you don't explain what you are doing.
