Jeff, I hate to rain on this awesome video’s parade, but your repair has blocked the panel from proper airbag deployment. At 2:20, when you tug on the panel and you see the “perforations”... those are there specifically to tear as the airbag deploys. This allows the top of the panel to hinge/push away from the glass and allow the head curtain airbag to deploy straight upward between the door trim and glass. This warping issue is a very unfortunate design flaw that I’ve seen in both of my parent’s 981 Boxsters, obviously caused by inadequate engineering in this unique airbag design. Quite an uphill battle trying to get Porsche to acknowledge valid warranty claims. Best wishes to all!
Jeff, just discovered your really top-shelf videos. This is great work. Like others, though, I am concerned about proper deployment of the airbag. Definitely a bad design that Porsche should own up to and fix.
Thanks for the detailed look at the inside of the door panels. If I ever get around to it, hopefully I can share some video of what the inside looks like with the delamination in full force.
I have repaired this issue on my 981 2015 Cayman. It was relatively easy. JB WED heat restistant 550 dgree. two wood planks and strong clamps. . It cured by 24 hours for sure , but in as little as 10 hours. I am satisfied. I only repaired mine across the top where the apparent warping appears. ... Not along the side. ( airbag )
Good point to BrandonCP comment. It does make sense that it’s designed to be preforated for air bag deployment. Porsche should cover this as a major flaw in their design, it’s a safety issue especially if it was fixed as a diy. I have nothing against DIYers to save money. I totally understand. But Porsche should cover this fix with an improved replacement and as a safety recall. Jeff, just curious on how your fix held up where the foam was delaminating?
Really good videos, appreciate it! I wanted to ask you if you’ve tried clearing the roof drains? I tried figuring out how to do it but couldn’t. It seems to be a problem on pretty much all boxsters and i feel i should try finding it and making sure there aren’t any potential blockages in making as it can be costly to fix once it floods
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NYTBY8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is what I used and what was suggested from the P9 forums. You stick this down the drains to blow everything out. It can and likely will get messy. Unfortunately for me the water damage was already done and fried my AMP. I still need to replace it.
Do you have an update on this fix. How did it work after some months? Also, can you Amazon link the greeen colored webbing and windscreen calking? Also, any new suggestions based upon this repair? This is an really awesome, and thank you!!
Still nothing wrong with the panels after about 6 months. This was a precautionary fix as they weren't delaminating. I don't have a link. It was just cheap ebay thin nylon webbing.

Nice job. That sounds like it should hold well.
Thanks for sharing. That’s very helpful. I benefit a lot from you videos 😊
Thanks! Keep the updates coming!

I haven't. There is a good write up on Planet 9 forum in the 981 DIY section that explains how.

Did you use 1", 2" strapping? Or other size? thanks
@@stevefior11 It was no more than an inch wide. Maybe a little less
I used a bottle of contact cement from Lowes today. So far it has worked. I haven't had the car in the sun yet.
Hello , can you give an update on the fix; i have the same issue and I want to try your fix thx
Is anyone aware of a glue fix that lasts without all the extra trim adhesives?
