    Q just keeps knocking it out of the park. For some reason, I have an odd desire to see a 5.56 version of this for California as an alternative to having to deal with all the bullshit one has to do with one's AR-15. They would just need to give it a short bolt throw and stock. It's sad that this may actually be a viable concept... Anyway, I love your reviews. On a final note, Thunder Chicken is the greatest name for a product.

      I believe I saw a charging handle that converts an AR-15 into a single shot non semi-automatic configuration effectively turning AR-15s into bolt action by making you have to charge the weapon between every trigger pull

    I saw this video about the time it cane out. Now I’ve seen the 6.8 mm 277 fury that sig came out with in there cross. That would be an awsome caliber to have the fix in. 16 inch barrel can get you 3000 FPS. So you can have decent velocity out of super short barrels.

    I definitely would enjoy one of these in 762x39 and a 12" threaded barrel, or maybe a 14.5" that could get a pin n weld QD suppressor mount, it has the full set of features that every manufacturer has missed when trying a 762x39 bolt gun
    1. Monolithic rail will allow iron sites which I think is important for the caliber, amd irons are fun (Ruger, Howa you missed this)
    2. Threaded barrel (CZ you missed this)
    3. Common mag that could be shared with your rifle, every manufacturer has missed this feature so far (Ruger why you use mini 30 mags, mini 30 has never been a good gun, done screwed the pooch there) even if the fix used AR mag well that's still better than any other competitor, but Id prefer VZ 58 mags 😁

    Idk if I would call this revolutionary or ground breaking in terms of design. I mean yes you have a very unique rifle with a lot of cool features to it but nothing I would call new. The action is somewhat similar to the Blazer R8 series of rifle and you do have the lightweight design which is nice but not something that can’t be done. Plenty of companies offer lightweight chassis meant for minimalist style builds along with folding skeleton style stocks. The most unique thing about this rifle would be the design of the receiver and how its AR15 styled but other than that it’s nothing new. And while you might have a rifle that’s more lightweight then what you could do with a custom build, the tradeoff is increased recoil. I would love to buy one but I feel like every time a gun comes out that’s different it’s always a “game changer” when really it’s just the new hotness. I think Q is a great and forward thinking company and if they keep it up they will continue to put out some cool new products.

    The bolt throw is could be due to a tight chamber. If you are using reloads, not trimming your brass short enough also causes a tight throw. The recoil could be mitigated by incorporating a muzzle break into the can. I know Barrett and Silencerco have such systems.

    • @AlabamaArsenal
      @AlabamaArsenal  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The AR mags are nice but with certin bullets can hinder you in OAL where the AICS mags can have a little longer OAL... one for sure in the 308 Win... the Nosler 168gr Accubond LR is one I could see being hard hard to load for in the AR Mag and the 178gr ELDX is another long one for its size...

    • @msquared9605
      @msquared9605 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may know this by now, but magpul makes a separate SR25 mag meant to hold the longer seated bullets. The 7.62x51 mag is the normal ar mag and the one labeled M118 is for longer OAL cartridges. I have no experience with them so take it with a grain of salt

    My only complaint so far with The Fix is the mag well. It needs to be just like an AR-10 magwell as mine the magazines move back and forth to easily.

    The monolithic receiver looks somewhat like a modernized MAS 36 with current materials, a shorter barrel and vastly superior ergonomics. Not revolutionary, but very nicely evolutionary. Sweet!

    Upon further thought the gun might need the length for ease of movement at bipod so instead of shortening guard 2’’ maybe 1’’ or thereabouts again good luck

    Alabama Arsenal still tryin to decide between the Fix in 6.5 or Mini Fix but am leaning towards the fix in 6.5 so I can barrel swap to the 8.6 creedmoor when they come out with the barrels and cans to match.

    • @AlabamaArsenal
      @AlabamaArsenal  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Id need to know more about what you plan to do with the rifle before I could advise you on what caliber you need. Because really with the mini fix your only choices will be 224 Valkyrie or 300 BLK and they all do very different things.

    • @thegolflife7565
      @thegolflife7565 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alabama Arsenal The truth is I’m very impressed with the ballistics and flat trajectory of the 224 cartridge. What I worry is it doesn’t pack the bunch like the 6.5 and to be honest I want to be able to hunt deer and shoot in long distance competitions and just for fun making the 224 attractive but in the other hand the original fix in. 6.5 with the ability to later register as an a SBR and throw the 12.5” barrel and convert it to 8.6 Creedmoor to lack a quiet punch. I usually hunt elk with a bow so I don’t need a large game rifle.

  • @damonr2233
    @damonr2233 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love mine, the “hard bolt lift” I attribute to the short handle in conjunction with 45* action and it cocking in that short throw. On a 700 style action you have a whole lot more momentum working for you.
    As for what to buy…. The mini fix in 300bo would make a great deer gun with proper ammo. Now the mini 300bo with a good can is 🤌

    Calibers I’d be interested in are 6.5 and 6mm Creedmoor with 16 inch barrels. I’d want blue highlights on mine regardless of caliber though.

    • @AlabamaArsenal
      @AlabamaArsenal  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m actually really interested in that 6 Creedmoor. A buddy of mine got one and I’ve shot it a few times seems like a really promising round.

    • @KnifeCursed
      @KnifeCursed 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alabama Arsenal I’m interested since it shoots pretty flat with less recoil. All of my rifles currently are in 5.56 and this would make a fun range and legal hunting caliber in Va since I need larger than .22 cal in my state for deer hunting. The Fix or a lightweight AR-10 build would fit that role perfectly in my opinion.

    I agree with all you say it seems to me you’ve covered all the bases unless the possibility that you and I have perhaps missed something as to your question on caliber and length I would like it in 6.5 and be able to swap out barrel to .308 pretty much covers it with fix in 18’’ I like the look of the barrel sticking out just that little bit more it looks better to my eye other calibers for the mini .224 is good and all but it wouldn’t take much to offer it other calibers like 6 arc similar Q is probably wanting to stay with the theme of the gun being modern well then focus on the modern cartridges being offered I love the accuracy that’s all important to me that’s paramount along with weight and size I think there is something in that look of barrel poking out a little on second thought perhaps shorten the guard 2’’ that will remove a small amount of weight as well as look better good luck I will be purchasing 1 as soon as available in the configuration I aforementioned in aus
