I just had the pleasure of meeting the Q team in Virginia Beach they even had a 8.6 blk with them 🤯 . They are as awesome and humble as they are online. Products are next lvl and I have no problem giving them all my dollars to show my support! What they do for the gun community is truly priceless.

8.6 Blackout, you mean .300 blackout right?
@@1014p no. 300 blk is a 5.56 case with a 7.62 neck. 8.6 blackout is a 6.5ceedmore case with a .338 neck.
if youre familiar with ssk industries (300 whisper, the OG blackout), they also had a .338whisper that was a similar concept.
@@hunterromano5562 So what the 6.5 necked down to .338 can also be whisper quiet and impact-full at range? Sure starting to sound like rebranding talk of old brass set ups. Not to mention 8.6 if in mm, is larger than 6.5 mm. Unless I am mistaken the brass is to small for that. Better question is why? More powder behind the round and stay sub sonic defeats the purpose on kinetic mass level. Looked up the round, looks stupid almost like hey lets cram big bullet into tiny brass. Apparently wrong on 8.6 mm fitting in 6.5 case.
@@1014p I'd wager getting an 8.6 to go super without swapping powders (pistol to rifle) I suspect would be next to impossible.
As far as practical application? Idk it's cool, hogs maybe. Doubt it'd ever see a military contract.
Ssk's 338 whisper was actually good out to about 1000m. So maybe there is something I'm not seeing.

8.6 in this package w a 12 inch barrel is phenomenal! It’ll harvest large game out to 400 yds. And quieter than the .300 BO!

This is perfect for 300blk. It was literally designed to be shot out of a 9 inch barrel and it works best with the 1.5 twist.

Suppressed subsonic it’s just amazingly quiet. You can hear those 200/220g slugs hitting the backstop. No, it’s not for taking large game at 500+ yds, but within its intended purpose it’s incredibly fun.
Too bad they are like $3500 when you can find one lol. If it were cheaper this would be the gun that motivates me to apply for an SBR stamp

I have a 2 stamp config and I can tell you a few things: Yes, its the most fun you will ever have with a gun. Also, everyone at the range will ask you questions when they see it and want to watch

interesting timing.
currently working up something similar with a Uintah UPR15 with the 10.5. A short 300blk bolt is definitely tempting. Love the idea of a dead silent backpacker.
The 1k price of the upper is kind of shitty, but being able to use an existing stamped lower with a $300 trigger offsets that a bit... Honestly 1k for something that im sure is super low production really isnt bad, just a bummer.
This Q is extremely badass, just more than i want to spend on a total experiment at this point.

I have shot and love the Mini fix 300 blkout but the price for me is out of my reach. So I went with a short Uintah Precision 300 blkout upper receiver and I'm loving it just as much. You should do a video on a Uintah Precision AR-15 or AR-10.
You can gain some volocity with a longer then 9 inch barrel with 300 black out......and in fact with a 16 inch barrel you can get pretty close to akm velocity's

Regarding 1:5 twist
@AlabamaArsenal there is question that bugs me, with this fast twist rate, is it safe to shoot el cheapo ammo through it namely S&B 124gr FMJ training lvl plinker supers in bulk 100 round pack? Does the jacket and core on those non-bonded bullet not come apart?
As for hunting same concern and question for S&B 110gr TXRG expanding copper solids?
Because right on that 2200 fps edge we are going with this fast twist as high as 310,000 RPM. that is speed that even high quality Nosler Varmagedons came apart in some instances ... Shame to loose a silencer in such a way.

The round at that distance is coming in like a mortar. Vertical.
That’s why they are using balloons. Steel targets were deflecting down and couldn’t verify hits.

Would love to own a mini fix but in 13.7 with a pin and welded and a k suppressor…. So I can just put a decent stock….. oh and I wish I wasn’t poor!!!

Is there a reason why other manufacturers don’t use 1:5 twist barrels? It seems like Q and Sig are the only ones using it.
I like the fact it uses AR Mags, AR grips, AR-style designs for familiarity, and disassembles with a single T-25 bit. What is going rate on these?
How’s this compared to the regular fix?
Debating between this and the fix, or waiting for the 8.6 fix…. So many options.

Elf Owl is still a fantastic gun, and about half the price of the mini Fix. I do still want to do the comparison at some point. I do wish that the Elf Owl had the 1:5 twist to make it a more fair comparison, and that is something JTAC is working towards again. Maybe in the not too distant future. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal a non related random question I’ve been holding onto for a while. I know you’re using Calloway ballistics now but at some point I remember you saying y’all used hush ammo by freedom munitions. If my memory isn’t wonky (very possible lol) is the hush stuff really that much quieter than the normal 147 gr FM stuff to justify that 50% price hike? Or is it close enough to stock up on the normal 147? I have a few boxes of hush for when the cgs mod9 finally gets out of jail, but FM is having a sale and trying to make these dollars stretch as much as possible

My ONLY critique of the design is to ask, why does the stock/brace fold to the RIGHT? I can see they even took the time to deliberately include an indention in the arm to make way for the handle, so my only thought is may it folds to the right to 'safe' the firearm/bolt? Seems to me like it would make more sense to fold it to the left, as most people are right-handed and can snap the brace/stock out with their left hand while holding the pistol grip with their right, and also operate the bolt with the brace/stock folded.
I still REALLY really want one (or 2 or 3 tbh) of these, I just wondered if anyone with a little hands-on experience with one would be able to clarify.
You kind of answered your own question - having the stock to block the bolt means you get an added layer of safety.

how does it compare to the BT SPR300??
As cool as the BT SPR300 is, that gun has a 1:8 twist that doesn't fully stabilize the heavy subsonic projectiles that 300BLK uses. This gun has a proper 1:5 twist making it far more accurate with those projectiles. Plus this gun was designed by the same people who designed the 300BLK round. Thanks for watching!
