It was far more emotional tbh because we spend far more time with the Doctor and unlike with Peter (everyone and their mother knew they going to have to bring him back) the 10TH Doctor is forever gone.

That's why you should never get too attached to the Doctor, it always hurts when he regenerates, you first deny the new regeneration of the Doctor, slowly start loving him and then history repeats when you watch him regenerate again and then slowly start to love him. He always manages to steal everyone's hearts...

I started watching doctor who just because of David Tennant but when I started watching The new Earth episode nothing made sense so I had to watch the previous one but i was too lazy to watch a whole series so i decided i'll watch an explainatio then i saw HIM.....i watched the whole series....Twice just too get him off my mind....I didn't Watched David cause i was too MAD....im watching it now..

@@claudius3359No your right. 3 brought in a new era for classic who just like 9 did for new Who. Bakers 4th is classic who's 10ths. After Baker there were huge shoes to fill so they went in a new direction with the to date youngest actor enter 5. As for new Who well you know the story 11th doctor etc etc. Then classic who got 6 who was underrated IMO and overshadowed by the entirety new "mean" doctor approach. Similar to new who's 12th.

My theory is that it seems like they lost momentum after 4 and 10.1,2,and 3 provides an introduction to his core characters,identity,abilities,and world building (and 3 made it more famous),while the 4th reaps the benefit while expanding the story and completing his character as the goofy alien adventurer he is.Along with 9th we're introduced to a different situation that the Doctor has to go through and how he deals with it,with 10 as a pay-off after Parting of the Ways ended.Maybe we are (and I also mean the creators) too occupied on Tennant & Baker's fame and Doctor persona than what leads to the fame of their characters.
Maybe it's not about the "big shoes to fill",but a good story and characterization that introduces something interesting about the Doctor.I could be wrong,but that's what makes "Trial of the Timelord" interesting to me despite not being interested in 6th's era.

@@claudius3359 I've definitely noticed with new Who (how intentional) who knows, but each regeneration we've had, the next incarnation lines up perfectly. 9 into 10 well that's quite self explanatory. Rose. You get this young, attractive, cool doctor, albeit still with his dark side, ready to sweep in and save her day. By the time 10s regeneration comes around well he's now a bitter and cold man. Hurt by his losses and betrayed by the universe. As we saw, not wanting to give up his regeneration so easily the doctor just had to go completely to basics. Go the youngest they've been in ages and just start completely fresh. But again by the end of that regeneration there back to a similar position. Case in point 11s new outfit and Tardis interior. Yes they may not have physically needed to regenerate yet but emotionally, having lost the ponds and everything. 11 wasn't the same. Now it was only right given how sentimental and loving 11ths personality was that the next one along should start opposite. Enter 12. Now I feel like 12 had the biggest character arc of them all, really developing and changing but I think this was all because the doctor needn't go back to his colder, grumpier ways, similar to say 1. The Doctor can open their hearts. So after going on this character development we get 13. This cool motherly aunt incarceration that's easily the one with the biggest and most open heart. Now obviously 13s run isn't all perfect. Not not at all, and I do see 13 becoming colder towards the end of three incarnation. That's why I think the specials are perfect. Having 10s physical appearance return and the bi-regeneration happen meant that the doctor was finally able to just let go.
He sounded a lot like the tenth Doctor when he said "Well get in then!" To Charles Dickens.

Don't be so cynical. Nostalgia is when you like something just because you grew up with it and not because it's actually any good. Eccleston was genuinely fantastic, and should be recognised as such.

Despite the fact he hated the people running the show, you can tell Eccleston really liked playing the Doctor, makes me want the timeline where he stuck around and was happier with the production as a whole because the dude is very underrated.
Yeah, he's always said he really likes the doctor as a character, i so wish he got a second series and am still holding out hope that he makes an on-screen return at some point, that would be the biggest return ever given the context.
