not really short lived if you count books and comics and audio he lived for 100 years compared to 10 who only lived 6 at most
I'm always surprised just how quickly it comes to an end when rewatching his episodes. And the end is always sad.
I’ve always wondered how much the crew were trying not to laugh when Christopher Eccleston was pretending to be strangled by a plastic arm.
Best Doctor. Without his hard work on that first series we'd never be where we are now. For what he put himself through, we should be eternally greatful.

I love how Ecclestone is jittery and nervous as he picks up a phone that shouldn't be ringing as though it's about to explode, hides how scared he is by cheerfully saying "Hello? This is the Doctor speaking. How may I help you?" and then turns deadly serious when he hears the word "Mummy".

First episode I saw, that was the moment I knew he was such a great character. Sad Eccleston didn’t get but one season, but for the amount of time he played the Doctor… he was fantastic!

I think it's better if the occasional line of dialogue refers to an adventure we never get to see. It's important to maintain the Doctor's sense of mystery.
It's from classic who. I believe it was the first doctor and they lost the footage but you can find the sound file still.

I always liked how Ninth Doctor was not over-dramatic or too quirky. He was humorous, but it came across as natural.
He might not be as popular as David Tennant but we still love him

He's the best of the New Who Doctors. Matt Smith is my favourite but his overall era wasn't as good. Chris Ecclestone's era was as close to perfection as New Who ever got.
He looked at the Eye of London four times before he saw what Rose saw. Fantastic. Then when that Dr. Constantine's face transformed into a gas mask . . . terrifying.

The TARDIS regenerated itself to include actual an actual phone once wireless become a widely-used thing. :)

The Doctor’d had no reason to use the phone up to that point, but the TARDIS, being basically a being of time itself, conformed to the Doctor’s needs either in the moment or by looking to the future upon it’s regeneration.
i really wish he had kept the cat from the start of The Empty Child, it would've been a fantastic companion. It could even have been turned into a gasmask zombie and then the stakes go up exponentially.

Ah yes, who could forget the hilarious moment when that doctor was forcibly deformed against his will, choking and dying as his face turned into a gas mask? And that eviction scene, an absolute riot!
i think for the gas mask one, it was to show the reference when 10 asked the general “are you my mummy?”! and as for the eviction scene i think the funny part was supposed to be *after* when he was being snarky about it and all/g

I used to not like doctor who then one day I watched a Christopher eccleston episode which was the episode rose I watched the episode because I thought what the hell I'll try it just this once and I can proudly say I have never seen anything as good on TV and since then I've never missed a episode of doctor who I just feel so stupid thinking doctor who wasn't worth my time which is completely wrong doctor who in my opinion is the best show ever if Christopher eccleston is seeing this injustice want to say thank you so much for getting me interested in the show because it Christopher eccleston was the first doctor I saw in the show he is my absolute favourite doctor an absolute legend
