This is defintely my dream cat , but I could live with an ORC 50 too... Fastest cruising boat ? Mmmmm . Maybe a Gunboat 68 could be marginally faster but extremely much more expensive . A Rapido 60 trimaran will be faster I think but a bit pricier , but you pay massively for that in internal volume . No , give me the ORC 57 then . And don't forget these cats are raced too . The Route du Rhum was just won by an ORC 50 . An ORC 42 won the Rolex Fast Net a couple of years ago before a few Dazcat 1495's and the ARC rally has beeen won from 2019 to 2021 on an ORC 50 , setting the multi hull record in 2019 . And in a few hours from now another ORC 50 will win the 2022 editon with about a 3 days lead to the second runner up , an Outremer 55.
Gerrit, you are absolutely right. There are a lot of people that talk the talk, but the results speak for themselves. Offshore racing isn't a sprint with 10 crew. Its short handed endurance racing, which this weapon is ideal for. Perfect if you also felt like cruising too right! There are pin up girls, Lamborghinis and ORC's....
The Route du Rhum was won by an ORC 50 in the Rhum Multi class, true, but only because the trimaran _Jess,_ which was leading for the majority of the race unfortunately capsized. Not to take anything away the performance of the ORC cats, they are indeed fast boats.
I agree. Not the "fastest" by any stretch any gunboat 60+, HH66 and some others are certainly faster and just as cruisy, and there are even faster while still being able to do crossings and having all the amenities you need.
Yes no problem, I will also be posting the REAL polar diagrams in forthcoming episodes. With 20 knot winds at 40 degrees we saw 12+ knots with J2 and 1 reef. We obviously were not racing too. My view is that it would sustain these speeds for transoceanic voyages without issue. What also shocked me is that it was very comfortable and quiet while doing so. Hope this helps.
Why is there and speed number given in this video. It says the fastest catamaran so that was a bit disappointing guys. That's where it's all about this video no? 🤷
In the interview we discuss how it's about high average speeds without breaking the boat and with limited crew. Therefore we will have to do some trans oceanic passages to get the measure of her. Boat poplars available from the yard but that's half the story. Arriving with high average speeds on all points of sail is where it counts for off shore boats.
And what other cruising Cat do you think will be? Only time will tell if this will or will not be the fastest cruising Cat, but given Orc's history with Orc50 and Orc42 already having won several races. It is entirely possible their newest Orc57 just might end up being the fastest one yet. So it really is not a stupid headline at all. It might end up being proven wrong, but it is just as possible it might end up being proven correct.
Price?
This particular boat is 2.1 Million Euros Ex Vat.
@@carryonsailing Like the old adage goes, "speed costs, how fast do you want to go?"
@@carryonsailing thx!
Great video, thanks James and Mausudon, finally a video that shows a great boat working (I am so tired of looking at drawers and stove tops)
Me too, thanks for your support on the channel.
This company or Dazcat are my dream cats.
You are not alone Tom. Hope you are well.
Fantastic!!! Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks Steve
The passion is tangible. Very much looking forward to the next episode
Thanks Mo
Have done some binge watching your videos, very interesting!
Amazed how she stopped dead on the tack then wamo off again . Light ship
Looks like serious fun to sail 👍😎⛵️
Still smiling....
For a sailor it looks like the most fun you can have with your clothes on
The best comment ever, and I have to agree.
Seem extremely well built and I always heard a fast sail boat is a safe boat because if you do not have the skill you can sail her slow.
handy in light winds, don't need a motor.
With a monohull that is true. But with a performance cat like this you better know what you are doing......bad things can happen very fast.
Great channel mate. You inspire me to pick up sailing one day.
Thanks Narek, do it!
In my opinion the best fast cruiser cats and tris are from these guys.

@@jamesaron1967 well , that is true , but also true is that Brieuc Maisonneuve was leading in Multihull before his ORC 50 capsized , so on balance ...

Still a fan!
Thanks Jason!
but who wants to race in his home xD☺? But I assume the insane performance has huge potential for recuperation
Hahaha. Honestly it's like a whole different type of sailing and I wish I'd done it earlier!
reserve me the boat I try to scratch the money together
We are all lusting after it!
Can you comment on the speeds you were reaching?

I'd have to give the fastest cruiser to the Rapido 60..
Based on?
